This private room is available for your work or play! There's a double bed, pull-out futon chair that turns into a twin bed, a desk and ample closet space. You'll have a private bathroom just outside your room. It's a 1930s home located in a growing part of East Austin. I'd love to have you!
Note that my home is not suitable for children under the age of 12. Please do not send me requests if you have children under the age limit.
The Sanchez House was built in 1937 and is about 1,000 square feet. The house is cute and packs a lot of character. I've been living and working in the house for about three years.
A lot has changed about the original structure since the 1930s, but it still retains its charm. I manage the property myself and am quite handy with fixing the small things.
If there is any way I can make your stay more comfortable, please let me know.
Your room locks with a key from the outside and on the knob from the inside so you can keep the space private for your stay. The bathroom has a hairdryer and I have provided soap, shampoo, towels and lotion. There is also an iron and ironing board in your bedroom.
Although you're renting a private room and a bathroom, you'll also have access to the full shared kitchen, living room, and a washer and dryer.
Your room has a small TV with Amazon fire streaming, Netflix, Hulu and a bunch of other entertainment options. There is also a TV in the living room. I also have very reliable wireless internet throughout the house and parts of the yard.
There's coffee and a coffee maker on the kitchen counter for your use. There's also a designated shelf for you in the fridge and on the steel pantry shelves. You're welcome to use any kitchen utensil you need, as long as you clean up after yourself. I don't have a dishwasher, so everything is hand-wash only. Please keep the kitchen clean.
There's a view of part of downtown from the front porch. I also have a backyard picnic table, which is a pleasant reading spot in the fall and winter.
I will be available most weekday afternoons and some weekends to help you find the best places to explore Austin. If you're more the quiet type, I'm also great at staying out of the way.
I'm a working professional and work part-time from home and am in the office part-time. I'll be around the house mostly in the afternoons during the weekdays, but I'm usually spending time in my home office. Feel free to knock on either my bedroom door or the office door if I'm home if you need anything to make your stay more comfortable.
My partner, Ben, doesn't live with me but will be in and out of the house from time to time.
During your stay, be mindful when locking the doors in the back or front from the inside. Make sure to leave the top lock (out of three) unlocked when you're inside or you'll lock me out of the house.
The real hostess is an indoor/outdoor Tortoiseshell cat named Libby. She's a sassy lady and loves getting pets. She is allowed almost everywhere in the house, except for the guest room. If you'd like to let her in to cuddle or hang out, that's your preference, but don't feel obligated to let her in the room. If you have allergies or do not like cats, this is not the right space for you.

About Beth Cortez-Neavel
I'm studying to become a mental health counselor and sexual assault advocate in Austin, Texas. I love to travel for work and play. I'm a great, non-intrusive house guest and I like meeting new people and seeing new places. Everything is an adventure! I also have my own listing on Air Bnb! I have a cute shabby chic room for rent (see my calendar) and live with a cat. We're both pretty chill housemates if you're looking for a one-night stay or something a little bit longer. I work part time at a statewide news radio show and part-time from home so will be around in the afternoons if you need any recommendations for things to do or good eats around town. Mostly, I'll stay out of your way. If you want to know more about me, send me a direct message.
Why Beth Cortez-Neavel chose East Austin
This is a homey place to relax after a hard day of working or playing. I love the neighborhood and the closeness to downtown and all the local bars, coffee shops and eateries.

Comfortable and Quaint Room in Vibrant East Austin
I really enjoyed my time here, Beth is an amazing host who provides everything you need to have a comfortable stay! The place itself is located in a very unique part of Austin; the coolest coffee shops, restaurants, and bars surround this area, but tucked away enough that you never hear any of the commotion going on at night. The whole experience felt like I had my own place in Austin, which was exactly what I was looking for! Definitely a great option for anyone looking to have the same experience.
I'm located in East Austin, in a neighborhood that is slowly updating while also attempting to keep its historical roots. The immediate neighborhood is quiet and very family-friendly. But there's lots to do just within walking distance. My house is only a street away (about a 10 to 15-minute walk) from Manor Road, where there are a lot of eateries, bars, local shopping opportunities and even a small organic and locally-sourced grocery. One of my favorite taco spots, El Chilito, is on Manor. Whether you're looking for a good day adventure or for some good nightlife, Manor road is a mellow place to hang out. Many of East Austin's finest eateries are just a quick drive or bike ride away: There's Franklin's BBQ on 11th street. There's the infamous East 6th Street bars and eateries like Via 313 pizzaria outside of the Violet Crown Social Club bar. On Cesar Chavez Street there are some great brunch spots and even a good 24-hour Tex-Mex place. I'll have a more extensive list of recommendations for your stay when you get in. I'm very close to the University of Texas campus and a quick drive from the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. There are free parking spots in front of my house if you brought your own car. I also have a storage shed where you can lock up your bike if need be. If you didn't bring your own transportation, you're in luck! The city just put in new sidewalks across the street. There is a bus and metrorail depot just a few walking blocks away. Austin has a great local taxi service, but needs about 30 minutes notice for scheduled rides. Our city also allows Lyft and Uber to operate and I've had a good experience using them for transportation as well. I can also provide more information about these transportation services if you're interested.
