Why Owner chose Kerhonkson
This property has been in our family since 1969. When our family bought the Barn it was literally a barn. All the renovations were done by our parents in the 1970s; our father is a carpenter and did all the work himself. We spent summers and weekends at the Barn growing up, and now bring our own children there! Antique stained glass windows have been installed in the lofted second floor, and were all salvaged from brownstones in Harlem and Park Slope in the 1970s and the huge fireplace was hand built by a local artist.
What makes this Cabin unique
We have been renting Blackberry Barn to guests on a short term basis for 3 years now and many people have made the Barn a part of their own traditions. We welcome you to come spend some time at the barn! Its a special spot and we are sure you'll leave relaxed and rejuvenated!

Serene Location Tasteful Barn Retreat
Very Disappointing
We regret to learn that the barn was not a good fit for you. We want our guests to enjoy their time and try to be as explicit as possible about the rustic nature of the barn, both in our advertising and in the rental agreement that all guests sign. We unfortunately did not receive any phone calls or emails during (or after) your stay. We have a property manager who lives minutes away from the Barn and who is available around the clock to help guests with anything they may need. If we had been able to speak with you during your stay, we could guided you to where additional chairs are located (we have ample seating for 6+ people both inside and out) and/or physically come on site to help you find the seating you needed. We also could have patched the minor leak in the canoe, which we were unfortunately unaware of. For that we apologize.
We regret that asthma/allergies were a problem for you during your stay. We find that folks with asthma or allergies usually ask us about the presence of their particular triggers at the Barn so that they can decide whether the space is appropriate for them. We always answer people's questions honestly and fully. There is no mildew at the Barn.
The space is advertised on VRBO as 2 bedrooms and a 3rd floor hay loft with futon. This is a family property and we use the barn frequently. We have always found the futon comfortable and have never had other guests complain. We apologize if you found it uncomfortable. As for bugs in the kitchen, upon your checkout, we had our property manager thoroughly inspect the house for bugs. He found none. Perhaps a screen door was left cracked and some bugs flew in. The barn sits on 7 acres in the middle of a country field. There are definitely critters and bugs about. We have screens in all the windows and doors but we cannot guarantee that a couple won't sneak in. Our prices are very reasonable for the size, space, and amenities, and reflect the rustic nature of the space. Again, we apologize that the barn was not a good fit for you. If we had gotten a call from you we certainly would have addressed as many of your concerns as we could have immediately. Unfortunately we weren't able to do so.
Our aim is to provide comfortable and relaxing accomodations, and we hope this review and comment help future guests decide whether the barn is a good fit for them.
Location
The Barn is a 10 minute drive from Minnewaska State Park and Mohonk Preserve, which have some of the best rock climbing available nationally. This area also features excellent hiking and mountain biking opportunities.
