LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! Unlike many rental cabin resort areas that have cabins 'right next door' our cabin is situated on five private acres, on the stunning Cove Mountain. This means you aren't looking out onto the roofs of other cabins, nor looking to the right and left of you only to see other cabin decks/porches. It makes you feel secluded although you are close to all of the attractions and conveniences of the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area. Our cabin is right on the edge of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Situated in Wears Valley, TN, about 9 miles from Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, this cabin is in an ideal location that many cabin and chalet rentals do not offer.
Our log cabin is truly all natural wood (there is NO sheet rock anywhere in this cabin). Our cabin is very spacious (about 2400 sq ft). There are three levels of living space. The main level has two bedrooms, each with a queen bed and private bathroom, the living room has HDTV/LCD satellite TV, stone fireplace and open concept kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is well equipped with new stainless steel appliances. There is a large deck off the main living area, with plenty of rocking chairs and a porch swing to enjoy the breathtaking views. The space boasts floor to ceiling windows, which makes you feel as if you are floating in the clouds. The views from every room in the cabin are absolutely spectacular.
The upper floor is a loft style, with high ceilings and plenty of natural light, which means amazing views from every angle. There are two queen beds on the loft level, and a full bath.
The lower level boasts an entire wall of glass with doors to a beautiful deck. The deck features log chairs for relaxing, and a warm and a brand new jacuzzi that looks out into the valley. On this level there is a full bath, two queen size sleeper sofas, a pool table, and an HDTV/LCD TV with satellite, video games.
Although our cabin is located very high on the mountain, the roads are all well paved thus providing easy access.
Our cabin may be very secluded, but it is very convenient in that it is not too far from everything in town. There is a gas station (with groceries) at the foot of the mountain and a Kroger grocery store that is only about 10 minutes away. Being so close to the national park entrance means you can take the “scenic route” to downtown Gatlinburg, bypassing the Parkway if you so desire. If you want to go to Pigeon Forge, the parkway is a less than 10-minute drive. Shopping malls, premium outlets, restaurants, antique and craft shops, and plenty of attractions are a short drive away. If the crowded areas of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge have zapped your energy, relax on the deck of Next Step Heaven, and listen to nature around you.
Many hiking trails are located near the cabin site, as well as what the National Park has to offer. Trout fishing, horse back riding, mountain biking, and white water rafting are other great adventures to seek while staying at the cabin.
**Pet Policy: The owners are committed to offering our cabin to guests traveling with their dog(s). We are volunteer foster parents for rescue dogs and know that they are a member of the family. However, in order to bring your dog, you MUST provide proof of vaccinations, flea/tick medication, etc. Due to insurance coverage restrictions, ALL dogs must be crate trained, and crated when you are not in the cabin. There are NO exceptions to this rule. For more information on the pet policy, please contact Michelle.

Next Step Heaven is owned by Dennis and Michelle Salyers, of Ironton, Ohio. Dennis owns a large commercial and industrial contracting business in Ohio.
Dennis and Michelle live on a 200+ acre farm, where they raise and breed registered Dexter Cattle (miniature cattle). They also have three horses (two Tennessee Walkers and one Haflinger).
Michelle is a national and regional volunteer for an animal rescue organization, so she and Dennis routinely 'host' foster dogs, and, have a large canine brood of their own.
Dennis and Michelle honeymooned in Gatlinburg, TN in 2007, and fell in love with the amazing mountain views, fresh air, and relaxation of 'cabin life' so they were determined to own a little piece of 'Heaven' one day. That dream came true when they found 'Next Step Heaven' in September of 2012. They took ownership of the Cabin on October 12, 2012.
Since purchasing the cabin, Michelle has updated many features in the cabin, including all new furniture and decor, new stainless steel appliances in the kitchen, and, a brand new hot tub was installed on the lower deck in May 2014. The goal is for our guests to feel comfortable, and to make Next Step Heaven their home away from home.
Michelle Salyers purchased this cabin in 2012
The views are second to none, and the location is superior. It's so close to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, yet far enough away that you feel you have truly escaped the hustle and bustle.

We stayed on the porch all morning enjoying coffee and watching the sky change colors as the sun rose. Evenings were the same with a bottle of good wine and a gorgeous sunset.
The cabin is comfortable, clean and well maintained.
Very nice cabin in a secluded setting with an amazing sunset view! We enjoy all that the Great Smoky Mountains area has to offer. We would enjoy those offerings during the day and make sure we were back at the cabin just before sunset every day. We would hang out on the decks to watch the sun go down and then enjoy the sounds of the crickets and whippoorwills after dark every night. It was SO relaxing! This cabin is dog-friendly and was a great place to vacation with our furbaby.
This lovely and roomy cabin is exquisite. I don't think I will ever forget the view from the two family rooms and both decks. Everything was sparkling clean. The kids loved the hot tub at night with the colored lights as well as our pool tournaments. We enjoyed fantastic hikes nearby in the National Park, saw a mother bear and cubs, and even took in Dollywood. The dogs had ample room to exercise. My husband's first career was as a professional driver, but even he was a little spooked by the drive, especially the last turn to get to the cabin; we were glad there were only 2 other families on the road that week.
We just returned from a 3 day rental. What a beautiful cabin and scenery! The owner was excellent to work with and everything you may need was available. We hope to go back again, I can only imagine how pretty the view would be in the fall! We would definitely go back again.
We had a wonderful time at the house with a gorgeous view every day. However, definitely a major problem with the wood bees and wasps on the front porch. The other downfall was no blinds on the windows (which for obvious view reasons), however, come afternoon the upstairs was really hot and blinding. The place was very clean and when I did have a question about garbage pickup the owner immediately answered my text.
This was our second stay in the Smokey mountains but at a different location. We enjoyed all the close by amenities.
The only other issue was there was no bedding for the sofa couch in the downstairs. The openness of the house was nice, however, people sleeping in loft have no privacy or silence with no door to shut out noise.
We ate in as well as ate out. Elvira's restaurant which is close by has amazing homemade food, however, they are only open limited hours. Gussepies (not sure if spelled correctly) also had very good pizza. White water rafting was amazing and we absolutely love Gatlinburg.
Our cabin is nestled on five acres in Wears Valley, on Cove Mountain. We are close to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg (both a short drive away). If you are looking to escape the hustle and bustle of every day life, THIS is the place for you. Our cabin is secluded enough that you feel as if you are all alone, yet all conveniences are just a short drive away.
