Our family used Mitch's place for a hunting weekend. The men came back with this to say:
Water was hot and plentiful, kitchen was stocked well, beds were comfortable, property was easy to find, the house was clean....
It was perfect! Thank you!

It's a quaint little cabin.
Serenity at its finest! We enjoyed having the nature at our doorstep. We spent most of our time out on the deck relaxing. We did some fishing and caught some nice sized bass which was a pleasant surprise. Having access to the boat was a plus! Loved overlooking the lake each morning and evening. Wish there would have been a dock as that would have been useful. There were some wood ducks in the lake each day, cute little squirrels running back and fourth and deer right up in the yard.
We here at the "Little Lodge" Want thank all of our guests for a great summer season. Continuous improvement is our main focus, Brand new dock and other upgrades coming spring 2019.
The property was amazing beautiful view of the lake it was quiet and relaxing loved the property came with a boat and trolling motor good fishing We were surprised how many supplies were provided We'll definitely be back

Great cozy cabin with great location
The cabin was kept very clean, beds were very comfortable. Internet allowed me to work when something came up, and Smart Tv allowed us to watch netflix when it rained. Great location for North shore adventuring. Make sure to check out the Soudan mine if you have a chance!. Boat is a great little touch we caught some massive crappies just trolling. Would stay again. Thanks Mitch!
The "Little Lodge" offers the pay less get more every time you stay, with state of the art "Fiber Optic" cable and internet, even rainy days get crystal clear reception. Many new improvements are continuously being made to keep you're vacation experience a great one. Special thanks to our great guests.
Peaceful and quiet! Great stargazing, too!
Mitch’s Little Lodge feels like home — there’s nothing fancy or pretentious about this humble, cozy little place, but its stunning spot on a private lake is worth its weight in gold. We enjoyed coffee on the deck in the chilly autumnal morning, wispy mist rolling off the water... whatever stress we brought with us just melted away. And then on a clear night, the view of the night sky is simply stunning. Close to everything we wanted to do, like visiting the Bear and Wolf Centers in Ely, having a great dinner on the quarry in Biwabik, and an unforgettable underground tour of the Soudan Mine (if you go, try to get James as your tour guide)!
Other cabins and resorts we looked at would have had us too close to other people, on lakes that would have been bustling with activity — and they all seemed to cost at least 3 times as much as Mitch’s place. The Little Lodge was a sort of Introvert’s Paradise! It was just what we needed to recharge our batteries and we’re excited to visit again soon!
Mitch was super responsive whenever we had questions, but everything was explained so well that we didn’t have to reach out too much!
The central launching point for this property is the key, Any direction you go you will find the things people like to do close by. Great guests make Great reviewers ! Thank you everyone.
Love it for what it is
Mitch already has many positive responses and they are well deserved. He is attentive via text during your stay for any issues you might have. Example, I did not know the oven would require a couple of minutes before it would start. I received an answer to my text in 10 minutes. The cabin reminds me of grandma's cabin when I was a kid. It has some flaws, but it offers everything you need to have a great time. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking. The queen bed is comfortable. The water is hot. The internet is fast and the cable is clear for the rainy day. The lake is smallish so the electric motor is all you need. You will not catch trophies, but it is fun busy fishing with snakes, smallies and crappies. Fire pit with firewood is a good touch. Washer and drier are available and work well. Being the only house on the lake is nice. There is one other house across a road that overlooks the lake, but nobody else was ever on the lake during our stay. What would i change? The road to the south is a little noisy when you are on the lake. 30% of the cars sound like they need a muffler. The dock is small. If there was a slight L at the end so two people could sit on it at sundown with a bobber in the water. You are limited to this lake unless you have your own boat... ie there is no other connected lake. This would be an excellent place to stay as a main base if you are fishing other lakes. Why stay at a hotel for $100 and have to eat out all the time? So appreciate what it is and do not disparage it for what it is not.
Absolutely accurate, the "Little Lodge" is exactly as described, A new dock, and other improvements coming next season will simply ad to the already obvious first choice for many people staying in the area. Continuous improvement is what we are all about. Another great review from a great guest. Please come and see us everyone. And thanks again to all our guests. Mitch Venne.

Take a right out of the driveway and 4 miles later you're in historic "Embarrass MN" post office (spring 2018) Trap-line convenience and liquor store, Fairgrounds, Sissu Finnish Heritage village, 10 more miles and you've arrived at the "Giants Ridge Recreation area" world famous skiing, golf, ATV, snowmobiling, this place is a true natural wonder... Virginia MN. just up the road, and Lake vermilion not far either, location again so critical to making you're stay so much more fun and enjoyable for the entire family....
