Idyllic winter getaway near Leavenworth

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I booked a few days (with another couple joining us for two nights) at the Bluff cabin in January. We were hoping for a wintry getaway, and we totally lucked out with the weather. The area had just received an extra foot of snow by the time we arrived, so we celebrated our first morning by sledding down the hill by our doorstep!

The cabin itself is incredibly charming with a wood-burning stove, a view of the river below, and that great A-frame aesthetic. The location is about a 10-15 minute drive from Leavenworth, and there's a great coffee shop across the street from the entrance to the cabin's neighborhood.

Pros:

- Comfy, cozy interior (heating works well, and the stove can make things downright toasty).

- Great views from the cabin (misty mountains, forest, and a small river nearby).

- Full kitchen amenities (including full-sized refrigerator), shower, and laundry in-cabin.

- Very close to Leavenworth, hiking/snowshoeing. Sledding right outside the cabin.

- Sherry, the owner, is very sweet and personable.

- Loft space for the second bed helps create a feeling of separate spaces.

- Small TV with DVD/VCR/Cable as a relaxing way to unwind after a day of snowshoeing.

Cons:

- While there is wi-fi, it's incredibly spotty. However, given that we were looking for a getaway, having poor cell phone and wi-fi reception actually might be a "pro" to some.

- During the snow season you'll need traction tires/chains for safe entry/exit from the neighborhood (but if you're heading toward Leavenworth in the winter, you probably have that covered).

- The cabin's interior walls don't really block any sound, so if you're staying with others you'll want to keep that in mind.

- The spiral staircase leading to the loft area is a bit treacherous to ascend/descend. I would recommend those with mobility issues to use the ground floor bedroom.

Overall we had a wonderful time and would absolutely recommend the cabin to others. My wife is excited to book a stay sometime during the spring or summer to see how things are then.

Cozy Relaxing and Wonderful - Snow was a bonus!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at the Bluff House A-Frame cabin and my husband and I had another wonderfully relaxing weekend here! Owner is friendly and the cabin is always clean, decorated with charm and very comfortable for the 2 of us and our dog Kobe. This time we had the bonus of 7 inches of snow and it couldn't have been more peaceful and beautiful watching the snowflakes fall while enjoying our cozy cabin with warm, crackling wood stove. We will be back again for sure! Thank you for sharing your little piece of winter paradise with us!

Home away...for 9 nites.

  • 5 of 5

Great location! Traveled conveniently between Leavenworth and Wenatchee throughout my time there. The cabin was cozy, wifi worked well enough, beds comfortable, shower hot. Plenty of kitchenware. Quick hikes to Engles Creek when guests arrived. So beautiful this time of year! Would stay again and again.

Wonderful little cabin, amazing host

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is small and cozy. It features a main level bedroom that has a smaller bed, and dresser with the bathroom attached. It also features a loft with a second bed and dresser setup. The kitchen comes fully equipped with all the utensils, pots, pans and dishes you could need. There's a fridge, coffee pot and microwave too.

The river is a short walk down a path, and is beautiful. Its cold, so i wouldn't plan to swim, but the dog loved it.

The only downside is the highway is very close, and if you have the door open, or are sitting out on the porch the traffic is a nuisance. All in all its a very minor problem with an overall outstanding setup.
