The beauty of this house is its location in front of the dunes and the ocean in one of the quietest villages in the Outer Banks, which is perfect for families with young children or people who are not interested in night life or a lot of entertainment. The second floor open layout with the kitchen, living, dining room and a loft area allows the guests to enjoy beautiful vistas all day long. The house is inundated by light and you can hear the crushing waves. Overall the house was clean, but we found the bathtub/shower not draining due to a huge clump of hair which we had to fish out. Also, the bathroom and kitchen cabinetry (circa 1980s) is in urgent need of replacing with falling doors, delaminated wood and rusty hardware. Finally, the window curtains work for privacy but don't darken the room, so bring a sleep mask if you wish to sleep after sunrise. Communication with the 1 800 number for surf and sound and by email was not good (messages and emails not returned or returned late), but this could be a temporary situation due to understaffing related to the pandemic. In summary, we would return.
