About this property

Storybook House on Wrights Mountain

Welcome to The Treehouse!

This is the place to come for relaxation and rejuvenation!

The Treehouse is a totally private, beautiful house in a wooded 10 acres. It overlooks a small, spring fed, half acre pond...with mountain views. 7 minutes from RT I-91 and close to everything. No other houses in sight and all 10 acres are available for walking, boating and exploring.

This is a unique home with an open floor plan, cathedral ceiling and lots of windows. Built in 2008, the house is quiet and peaceful.

Furnishings Include some Frank Lloyd Wright designed dining chairs from Copeland furniture in Bradford and a hand waxed Ellis dining table, made from old New England tobacco barn boards.

There is a main floor bedroom with a queen size bed and Copeland dresser, mirror and chair. And the large open loft has a queen and a full size bed, and a sofa.

The large open floor plan living room has 2 sofas. The house is heated with oil and includes reliable internet and smart TV with Netflix. It also boasts 2 decks on the East and West sides of the house and 1 deck by the the pond for stargazing and wildlife viewing. Or for just sitting and reading. There is a fire pit by the pond and canoeing and kayaking are available on the pond with paddles and pfd's in the Pond House. Wood is provided for the fire pit. There are some short hiking trails around the property as well.

Our property manager, Morgan, lives nearby and is a wonderful resource for all things Vermont. He is also a personal chef and is available to cook a dinner or brunch right there at the house for you. Just give him a call to check his availability.

This property is an ideal getaway situated on beautifully kept grounds. There is a real sense of being in the country with some rustic, some kitch and some elegant and artful touches. The bedroom and loft are air conditioned which cools the entire house and the main living room has two overhead Casablanca fans for cooling in the summer...even though it stands at 1,000 feet above sea level!

Below are some excerpts from guests who stayed with us last year and wrote in our "Share your stay with us" book, which we leave out for travellers:

"It's hard to leave this beautiful, restorative place... I will totally be recommending this place to my dearest companions back home. "

"Check-out day...Not wanting to leave...We will miss this place and the wonderful pond and hiking trails."

"Our days were full of the music of birdsong, frog chirps, and wind in the trees. We loved waking up in the trees...such great windows in this house."

"Just the quiet and escape we needed from the world. So nice to sit out on the deck and read a good book."

Wonderful and peaceful time in the forest
The house was everything I had hoped for and more. My husband and I loved walking the trails on the property and around the pond along with exploring the town of Bradford (Fairway is an impressive store, and the deli is very tasty!). My favorite parts were kayaking around the small pond, playing croquet on the lawn, having coffee on the porch and watching the stars from it, too. We did hear a coyote howl and growl several times across the pond when we set up a campfire one night, and we promptly put the fire out with a few buckets of water and went back inside! (I read later that coyotes hardly ever attack, but it was scary at the time in the pitch dark!) The house was overall wonderfully stocked and had lots of towels and blankets, plus having a full kitchen was a delight. My only minor complaint was that there were a few insects and spiders in the house (and a few found their way to my neck when lounging on the couch) but that is totally expected of a house in the woods... So it's pretty minor and didn't bother me too much. Overall I had a wonderful time and would love to visit again!!

About the host

Hi,
My name is Steve and my brother Glenn and I built this house as a vacation home around 2008 with loving care to details. We enjoy being outdoors and have created great outdoor spaces including a good size pond. We have also been able to to bring the outdoors inside via the many windows and two decks.
We have enjoyed many nights sitting around a fire by the pond and singing and playing guitar, and being with family and friends. It is our favorite getaway and when we are not able to get there then we are thinking about the next time we can!
Enjoy!

Why they chose this property

The cathedral ceiling and all the many windows create an open and bright feel. It feels like you are up in the trees. And you look right over the pond which attracts all kinds of wildlife.
We traveled to Vermont as kids and fell in love with this central location to the White and the Green Mountains! And don't forget the incredible Vermont cheddar cheese right from the wheel in the country stores

What makes this property unique

The pond, the views from the living room, and the feeling of being in the trees are all unique features of this home. It is peaceful and private. A chance to get back to a simpler time and renew the spirit.
We always feel that when standing in the loft looking out we are on a ship. The smoke stack, ceiling fans, portal window and view of the pond all support that notion. So last year we added a Ships Wheel to the loft. The kids love it!

We also have a personal chef Morgan, who will come to the house for a unique dining experience. We have enjoyed his delectable offerings many times.
