Highly Recommend!

  • 5 of 5

The pine walls and the decor give this home a cozy cabin feel and the views are spectacular. The house is very clean and comfortable, and the expansive grounds are wonderful. There was quite a bit of snow on the ground when we were there and it was very cold, but the house was warm, especially when we started a fire in the wood stove. Karen was very nice, responsive, flexible and helpful. This place has everything I look for in a get-away rental, including being dog friendly! I highly recommend!

Absolutely Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

We happened to choose a week where the foliage was at it's peak and the beauty was superb. The house and surrounding area were more than we could have hoped for. It is grand, the views at the house are wonderful and all is so peaceful and private. I have never seen a house so well equipped and all was very clean.

I would certainly recommend this rental to anyone who is a lover of nature and quiet. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this piece of heaven and it was hard to leave. We do hope to be back again.

Heaven with view

  • 5 of 5

With small grandchildren living in Vermont and us living in Idaho, this was the perfect location for a month long visit to Vermont. From the first contact with the owners everything was perfect. When we arrived in mid September everything exceeded out expectations. This is a very beautiful property and the views are out of this world. Being able to watch the transition of colors was more that we had ever experienced. The peace and quiet of the area was very relaxing and the small grandsons loved playing in the yard with the tire swing and exploring the trails and roasting marshmallows in the fire pit. We enjoyed our visits with Dan the care taker and going to all the small towns around the area. Our Bichon loved watching all the black cats with white stripes (on leash of course), deer, turkeys, porcupines and many large hawks. The plaque on the front gate says it all. "Once in a Blue Moon". I hope our health holds so that we can return to the property again someday.

A Delightful Find

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed in this lovely home for twelve days this summer. What a delightful find! From the moment we drove up the driveway, we knew we had found the perfect spot for peace and serenity. This home has a stunning setting! Acres of beautiful mountain views. Wildlife literally in the front and backyards!

The house itself easily became our home away from home. It was comfortable and cozy. A splendid place to return to after a day of exploring, or a wonderful place to spend a rainy day curled up with a book.

We found all the amenities we needed at the home. Entertaining was a breeze with the grill and back deck. All our visitors were in awe of the home and it's location.

The caretaker was very respectful of our privacy and had everything ready for our arrival. I cannot understate what a pleasure it was to work with the homeowner in arranging our stay. What a wonderful person.

I would highly recommend this rental as a place to stay and soak in the beauty of the majestic mountains of Vermont. I know I will be returning to this place when I next visit Vermont!

Fantastic winter getaway

  • 5 of 5

3 couples and our dogs stayed here for a 5-day New Year's getaway. The house is clean and in great condition. Both the owner and the caretaker were very responsive and helpful when we had questions before our stay, and Dan (the caretaker) was kind enough to get a fire going in the woodstove before our arrival. Other than that, though, we didn't see him - the house is very secluded and private.

You can snowshoe and cross-country ski right from the door, and there are old logging roads (I think?) and parts of the VAST snowmobile trails accessible right from the property. You'd have to be less of a klutz than I am to ski some of those trails, but they were excellent for snowshoeing. I'd bet those woods would also be fun to explore in hiking weather.

The house is set well back from the road, and that road only has one other house past the rental - so no traffic. We were able to let the dogs out to play in the fields without having to worry about cars, which I think would also be great if you were there with kids.

We saw wild turkeys, a pheasant, and lots and lots of deer tracks. Other than wandering in the woods, we didn't leave the property, so I can't speak to any local attractions or amenities, but I would definitely recommend this place to others, and I would definitely come back.

Note to other dog owners: the property is not fenced and there really is a ton of wildlife, so if your pup is inclined to follow it's nose after game (deer, turkeys) you might want to keep an eye on them.

Gorgeous property & beautiful house!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent 10/16 - 23 at this residence, along with our two border collies. We spent our days hiking Black and Moose (no moose, but saw a big black bear) Mountains, and Mount Cube in New Hampshire and Hunger Mountain (snow-covered and pure ice at the summit!) and Mount Pisgah (fabulous views) in Vermont. We chose this house for its central location with regards to the mountains we wished to hike. Although the house is privately located, it is close to I-91. We also wanted to be able to let our dogs safely out for exercise (yes, even with all the hiking, our dogs would still want to play).

There were a few mornings we had either turkeys or deer in the fields. One night our dogs got to "talk" to the local coyotes. Not fun, as it was 3:30 AM and they all had much to say to one another for about an hour!

The house is well-equipped in every way. The wood stove would warm up the rooms in minutes. My husband enjoyed the large screen TV (baseball playoffs); the satellite reception was excellent. We spent the only rainy day by reading and enjoying the warmth of the wood stove and the views (this was an exceptionally late autumn and many colorful leaves still remained on the trees). The rains cleared in the afternoon and we were able to walk some of the snowmobile trails. They seemed to go on and on.

One note, we were unable to use either of our two cell phones, one with Verizon and one with ATT. We got a calling card to call home.

Since we had been in Vermont to ski many times before, we had already done many of the touristy things years ago. We also cannot comment on local restaurants. Because we knew we would be hiking all day, therefore, tired at night, we brought up our own food (wonderful Indian food and soups) for dinner and just reheated.

As mentioned in other reviews, the owner was quick and responsive to questions and Dan, the caretaker, was extremely friendly, informative and unobtrusive.

All-in-all, we throroughly enjoyed our vacation and will consider returning to hike the many other mountains that remain. We will highly recommend this property to friends and family.
