Perfect location beautiful historic home with modern conveniences

  • 4 of 5

I was very hesitant to rent this house because of several bad reviews I read about various things not working in the house. Myself, my husband and 2 other couples rented this house for week in November to attend the power boat races. None of us had ever been to Key West. I was the point of contact for choosing this house for my friends and if anyone has ever planned a vacation for friends you know the issues with making everyone happy and making sure the house fits all of our needs. Our first issue was how we paid for the house we could only make one payment so that meant I had to put all of the money on my credit card that was a hassle. It would be nice for groups if there were other methods of payments so each couple could pay on the trip we booked this house 7 months in advance and it would have been nice to pay on our own and not jack one person's credit card up. Now today I get message that our $1500.00 security deposit has been refunded but it was not explained how it was refunded. My only guess is that it was put back on my credit card - now I have the issue of how do I return my friends' portion of the deposit to them? Now for the house. It exceeded all my expectations but what really made our trip was Jim the caretaker of the house that works for the owner. Jim was outstanding with the little issues we had. We had a toilet problem due to the maid or previous guest flushing a clear top to laundry detergent in the big bathroom and my husband being the unfortunate person to use that toilet the moment we checked in. Jim immediately got on this and worked very hard to figure out the problem. Also the ice maker did not work but Jim had someone out there asap and it was fixed. There are 5 toliets in this house and 2 beautiful modern showers - I missed the shower even now in that home and looking at the palm tree out of the window the only problem was no bench for the ladies to shave their legs but the rain shower faucet was heaven. We cooked dinner at home a couple of nights and enjoyed the beautiful kitchen with huge stove - all burners worked and loved the beautiful formal dinning room. The price to rent this house could not be beat I spent months searching Key West is very expensive. The beds were very comfortable and the pillows and all of the sheets and towels very high quality and plenty of them. The house was immaculate. The outside deck was very nice to hang out on and pool beautiful if you like OLD houses you will love this house!!

Perfect Vacation Home-Property Manager Jim is Awesome

  • 4 of 5

This place is perfect. We were there for the Boat Races and had an amazing time. The place is absolutely beautiful and centrally located to everything. If you are sensitive to noise, be warned that the Roosters start very early in the morning. The beds were very comfortable and each room had their own 1/2 bath which was very nice. Everything in the kitchen was working except for one of the dishwashers which was no big deal. We had a few minor issues but with the help and attention of the Property Manager Jim all was fixed within hours. Jim is the absolute BEST Property Manager that I have ever dealt with nothing compares to his attention and dedication to this home. He was there whenever we needed him and answered texts right away if we had any questions. As noted in other reviews the ice maker wasn't working when we arrived but was fixed while we were there on Thursday. Also the one fan on the porch still isn't working.

Need our deposit back

  • 1 of 5

My family and I really enjoyed the location and house. HOWEVER, I am trying to get in touch with the owner to get my deposit back. I am hoping through this review we will be able to get the owner to contact us so we can get our deposit back. I have called and emailed the owner. I have tried other points of contact and still have not heard anything. There was no damage or problems so I'm not sure why we continue to have trouble getting in touch with the owner of this rental. PLEASE RETURN OUR DAMAGE DEPOSIT.

Perfection! Best Vacation home ever!

  • 5 of 5

A group of friends and myself rented this property for Memorial Weekend. We were all couples, and the layout for this house was perfect! With two queen beds on the second floor and a king bed on the third floor. All the beds were super comfortable, even the pillows! Every bedroom had it's own toilet and sink, which was beyond what we could have expected and super ideal when you have a group! This made getting ready for the girls really easy because we all had our own space to get primped! The only thing was only two of those bathrooms had showers, so we did have to plan our showers, but that was not a big deal at all!! And totally worth the sacrifice for the rest of the house.

The outside covered porch off the kitchen is amazing, and where we spent most of our time when we were at the house or in the pool. I could have spent my entire vacation on that porch lounging and listening to all the birds. The house is only a few blocks from the madness of Duval, close enough to walk or stumble home, but far enough to keep any noise or riff raff away! We are in our mid to late thirties, so we like to have fun but we also like our quiet space! The Kitchen is exactly how they describe, literally a chef's kitchen. We cooked a lot while we where there, and it was super convenient with all the utensils and cooking supplies. It is also a communal room, where we all hung out if we weren't on that back porch! The house is just gorgeous and has a ton of history. Lots of original wood, flooring, windows, which gives it such a warm cozy feeling. You can also see the original deed to this historical house in the hallway on the 2nd floor! We were all impressed!

The property management team was awesome too! They were super accommodating with our schedule for check-in and check-out. They met us there, showed us around the house, and were available when we needed them for check-out. All in all, I don't know why anyone would be unhappy staying here! It was such a gem, and it truly was hard for us to leave. I wish we had more time. If we go back, we all want to stay at this property again!

The property is perfectly located within a beautiful pool that we used a lot!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great weekend here. There are a few appliances that don't work (part of the stove top, the ice machine and the washer) we were just fine with this as it was a short stay but if we were staying for a long period the washer would be an issue. The pool is beautiful- we enjoyed hanging out in it. The outdoor deck is a wonderful place to relax as well. Close neighbors require some attention to noise but we didn't find too much trouble with it. We are so happy we were able to enjoy this house in Key West- we hope we get the opportunity again!

Where do you live?

Love it!

  • 4 of 5

Loved the house! Loved the location! Property manager was great to us. Only negative was that a few things need some attention. Stove top partially worked, porch fans worked occasionally, broken deck chair and pool wasn't maintained until we were leaving. That may sound like a lot however everything else about the rental was so wonderful, I can't wait to rent it again!
