About this property
Ocean View Condo. Cruz Bay St. John. Ferry Pick Up.
Fall asleep to the sound of waves, wake up to ocean views, and the ferry crossing Turner Bay. We pick you up at the dock when you arrive. Beach chairs, a cooler, and beach towels are ready for your days in the sun. You start and end your trip with a vacation-ready villa.
The screened porch is where you'll spend most of your time; trade winds coming through, dining table for two, a sofa to sink into while watching the ferry cross Turner Bay below. Four large doors connect the living room to a sun room that faces the ocean, so the view follows you inside. Tall ceilings and southern exposure flood the unit with light. Close the folding doors and hardwood shutters when you want privacy. One queen bedroom with a picture window framing a bougainvillea tree, distant hills, and open sky. A living room with a queen sleep sofa. Both sleeping areas have separate private access to the full tiled bath. A fully equipped kitchen with a small bar and stools. Small complex that stays quiet.
Conch Villas was built in 1986 using rare Brazilian hardwoods, IPE and Jatoba sourced from the Para province near the Amazon Delta. The walls, siding, and shutters were prefabricated in Belem with hardware of Brazilian design. Materials so dense they are used as flooring in Brazil. No other property in Cruz Bay has this.
Five units in the complex. You will not share the grounds with a crowd.
An 8-hour battery backup system handles the rolling outages that occasionally rotate across the island. You won't notice them.
Impromptu visits by peacocks and goats can be expected.
Our concierge team, Kelly and Traci, will be your on-site hosts. Kelly and Traci are long-time residents of St. John in the hospitality industry and know the island intimately. Both can help you get the most out of your visit! You will be picked up at the ferry dock and taken to Convivare, and on the day of your journey home, you will receive a drop-off at the ferry as well. Don't feel obligated to the rides if you intend to make other contactless arrangements to the villa.
Walkable to town, no rental car needed. From the condo, turn right out of the complex and follow the gentle slope down to the waterfront path into Cruz Bay; restaurants, bars, the taxi stand, and two grocery stores are all within 10 minutes on foot. A grocery cart is provided for your shopping runs. Prefer to explore the island? Taxis leave from town to the North Shore beaches throughout the day. Rent a car, and there is reserved on-site parking waiting for you.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

The stay was great! Neighborhood was safe and the views were amazing! Our host picked us at the ferry and even bought groceries and stocked the condo for us which was amazing! We didn’t attempt the walk to town but made friends with Chico who was readily available to pick us up whenever we needed. Enjoyed the enclosed front porch every morning- much needed vacation!
This Villa is located close to the ferry. It was a great place to base our adventures from. The check in process was great. It was fully equipped for anything you plan to do.

Thanks for the nice review Matthew and glad you had a good visit. Also glad that the backup power battery worked well when the WAPA power went out, it is a recent addition.
Thanks for the nice review. We do try and provide a good experience for our guests and it certainly makes us feel good when a guest has a great experience. Please come again.
Great place beautifully decorated with nature pictures. Host responds right away and goes above and beyond to help. Has great ideas for things to do. The place was updated, clean, had comfortable furniture, stocked kitchen new appliances. The place even had a great TV. Washer and dryer new worked great as well. Super great place as a home base while enjoying the beauty of Juneau!

I stayed here for several weeks on a work trip. The property was clean, and when there was an issue with the neighbors above the owners were very prompt with responding and fixing the damage. I would recommend staying here!
Great time again in St John. The condo was great and as advertised. We really appreciated Kelly and her communication and dock side greeting and ride to the condo on the first day.
We most enjoyed sitting on the sun porch with our coffee in the mornings and in the evenings after a busy day. The management was very helpful with local information.

This place is a gem. Located centrally, about 10 mins walking to grocery store, 10 -15 mins walking to downtown restaurants area. We rented a car. The parking is right onsite and convenient . Room is very clean and spacious. Love sitting on the porch to watch beautiful bay.
The place looks better in person than in the pics. We didn't hang around much, mostly morning coffee and evening relaxing after a busy day. It was a cute place. There were a few maintenance issues, but they did not impact our stay too much. I walked to town one day, and it was not too difficult. Parking in town is difficult, so the walk was nice.
The island and the place were very intriguing. The level of relaxation were amazing. The people on the island , and especially the people that handled the care of the house were amazingly kind . Any problems we had were handled immediately. I forgot a computer case and they made an extra effort to get it on the ferry. We would definitely come back to the island and this place!

Thanks William for your nice review. Hope you do have the opportunity to come back!
Calming interior and lovely vista! Nice having the option of fast but steep route or the longer but moderate hill back into town. Very nice having fans and AC option. Everything very clean. Fun books and maps on shelves. Great layout, and plenty of towels and cooking implements. Would highly recommend!

theresa glad you had a great visit. A pleasure hosting you. come back soon.
We were met at the ferry by a really nice person from the villa making check in seamless.
Our questions were answered promptly before and during our trip.
The villa itself is very homey and affordable. We enjoyed having beach chairs and snorkel equipment right there.
Proximity to Cruz Bay was nice. Walking to dinner is possible, however, be sure to note that St John is very hilly, so you might want to use the car if you're not up to some serious inclines. Another plus for this rental is dedicated parking.
Meet up with the contract went smoothly. Picked us up from the ferry. Explained the best way to get to town.
It is not a long walk into town and we felt safe walking.
Enjoyed the stay at the house and our trip to st.john would definitely recommend.
My one negative is the lack of TV options, so I would recommend to bring a fire stick, or Roku stick. Also the TV volume seemed low if the ac was going on.
Not that we watched a lot of TV as we spent all day at the beaches.
My wife and I spent one week in St John and stayed at the Conch Villas. We had an outstanding time. The choice of the Conch Villas was excellent. The location featured Brazilian Rosewood, inside and out. If you are a guitar player or Luthier, you really need to see this place... Martin and Taylor eat your hearts out... the site was conveniently located and was walkable to Cruz Bay. It was clean, well setup, and pretty much had all of the items needed for a fun filled vacation, including beach chairs and a cooler. We mixed eating in and eating out to stretch our bucks, and the kitchen was well furnished meeting all of our needs, The site manager, Kelly, was awesome; communications were easy and frequent and assistance was always quick and friendly. Loved St John and the Conch Villas. Look forward to returning in the future. Highly recommended!

Thanks for the nice review. We strive to provide a good experience for our guests. Glad you had a good visit and enjoyed Convivare
This property is exactly as depicted and described. No surprises other than how equipped it was with everything and anything we needed! Hosts were excellent communicators and met us at the ferry upon arrival. Conch Villa was a 0.2 mile walk over to town so no need drive in at all, and the neighborhood felt safe enough to do so. Parking on-site was perfect. Our beach days were without flaw as the host had everything from beach chairs to snorkels to beach towels and a cooler. Kitchen was fully stocked with any needed tool or appliance right down to the ziplock bags. There was even an umbrella ready to use for those quick 15 minute rainfalls. Most of all, we loved the cozy feel of the villa; full of warmth and character, not a cookie cutter hotel room. The open air porch was peaceful to sit on with coffee or a drink in the evening. AC and WiFi all worked seamlessly and the washer and dryer, while shared outside of the unit, were convenient to have on-site.
This condo is the perfect location if you want to walk to Cruz Bay or the grocery store. Both less than 1/2 mile. Of course, there are a couple VERY steep hills so if you have mobility issues, this may not be the place for you. Entrance to condo also has steep stairs. We welcomed the exercise though and walked to town everyday. We appreciated the pantry items left which included coffee. The kitchen had everything we needed when we did decide to cook. There were plenty of bath and beach towels, chairs, snorkeling gear, even sunblock. Each morning we watched the sunrise while sitting on the porch. We loved visiting with all the neighborhood cats, roosters, and hens too. We enjoyed the location of this condo and would definitely stay again.
This property is old, grubby and dark. Please ask the owner to replace the bed pillows- housekeeping came as we were checking out and removed the pillow cases in prep for laundry, and I was appalled at how yellow and stained they were. I was afraid to check out the mattress. The extra amenities, such as beach chairs, cooler, flippers etc. were broken or falling apart. The place felt dark and depressing and everything seemed old and shabby. The shower door was water and soap stained and did not appear to have been cleaned in a while. Looking through bath cabinets to find hair dryer meant sorting through all sorts of old lotion bottles and other detritus. The place needs a thorough dejunking and cleaning and upgrading. Condiments in fridge are of indeterminable age.
This property was wonderful and convenient. Very well maintained, loved the beautiful hard wood, and the stone wall in one area that added character to the interior. It is in a quiet area and within walking distance to the grocery store and down town. We felt safe walking around. It is fully equipped with everything you should need. They made sure that we would have our morning coffee without rushing out to the grocery store on arrival. Plenty of coffee & creamers. Check the fridge and food cupboards before you go to the grocery store, you will be surprised by everything they contain. Plenty of lovely soft towels, including those for the beach. Having breakfast in the SCREENED porch looking out over the ocean was very special, we spent alot of time relaxing there. Rained one day but the sunroom was nice to sit in and watch the rain while we relaxed.
Kelley & George thought of everything that made our stay unforgettable, including having someone pick us up at the ferry. Questions were responded to quickly. Thank you for making us feel welcome.
PS: There is a free parking space for your car next to the steps to your vacation home.

We had a wonderful stay at this sweet condo.
It was perfect for two people.
When we arrived we were picked up at the ferry, and dropped off again when we left for home.
So we had no need for a car at all.
There is a screened in porch and we spent a lot of time there having coffee, reading, and watching the car ferries go back and forth.
The apartment has many windows and we kept them open and had the fans running, so no need for air conditioning.
Only problem is that sometimes the ferries make noise early in the morning and wake you up if the windows are open. There are also roosters running wild and they wake you up but we didn't mind that. It was actually really nice.
The walk to town, where all the restaurants, shops and bus taxis are, is about 15 minutes. We didn't mind the walk because it gave us some exercise. There is one steep hill to walk up, but it is short. It can be too much for older people but then you can take a little bit longer route which is easier. Be aware also that there are some difficult steps up to the apartment, which could be a problem for people who have trouble walking. The apartment had everything we could possibly need. Would not mind going back.
Met lots of interesting nice people and made lovely memories:) Most of all we felt safe at all times. Stunning island.
Our villa had everything we needed - towels, beach chairs, tv, comfortable bed. The hills of St. John are a real exercise promoter. The convenience to Cruz Bay and Starfish Market is great. Management communicated well and we enjoyed our visit in this quaint villa.

About the host
Hosted by George
we are a married couple who have loved and visited st john since 1995.
the photo shows us at maho bay beach. the donkeys know we have apples and want to get acquainted.
Why they chose this property
We purchased this unit to own a piece of paradise, which st john definitely is even after tough Hurricane Irma. So much to do here. The large national park ensures that there will never be helter skelter development like st thomas (and we love st thomas). Numerous beaches to explore, many interesting trails to hike. Spend the day in the park, Coral Bay, Salt Pond or east end, then relax in Cruz Bay. Or get out on the water in a kayak, yacht, speed boat, snorkeling adventure, or trip to the BVI. We originally stayed at Maho Bay Camps, a fine well developed eco-campground which was lost a few years back to an individual buyer who closed the camps.
Our goal with Convivare was to provide an excellent short term rental property in a place, Conch Villas, that has incredible old era Danish charm and easy walking access to the ferry landing and restaurants.
What makes this property unique
easy walk to town, classic architecture, comfortable quarters, all amenities, ocean views, parking. if you want to visit st john and be close to town, this is in town but in a quiet residential section.
