About Kathryn Bennett
I am an artist /entrepreneur. I grew up in New Mexico and developed a deep love for the lore and the people of the Southwest. When I discovered this ancient village, my life changed forever. I knew that I would spend the rest of my life preserving and protecting it. Come visit, see the properties I am working on. My artwork is incorporated into each dwelling, following the traditions here in this historic place. I hand carved the front door using an ancient Spanish pomegranate motif.
Kathryn Bennett purchased this Guest house/pension in 1999
Why Kathryn Bennett chose Santa Cruz
These homes are over one hundred years old, I can't imagine living in a new dwelling. I love adobe, old wood, natural finishes, and the mountain and mesa views.
What makes this Guest house/pension unique
The hot tubs here, a private one for each casita, are cleaned with enzymes not harsh chemicals. You will notice the difference the soothing effects the well water and enzymes have on your skin. The adobe walls are painted or plastered all natural pigments. You will be staying adjacent to the Holy Cross Church, one of the oldest, if not the oldest in the United States. Come visit it's fabulous folk art from the 1700's and hand carvings. Back in the day the huge hand hewn beams were floated floated down the river from Truchas. The other heavy corbels and other architectural necessities arrived by oxen. Sit on the front porch swing and watch the world go by, the mesas in the distance and the humming birds up close. You will enjoy many local hand carved pieces of furniture which adorn the casitas.
