Elegant/Rustic Space With Room To Escape The Wild World Around Us
About robert perkins
I love nature and solitude, two dwindling qualities in our world today. I am an artist and you can see what I've been up to by visiting robertfperkins and adding dot-com to the end. I attended Harvard University and University College Cork, Cork, Ireland. I have written many books and made television for PBS and Channel 4 in Britain. I am from the East, from Boston where I grew up in a large family of five children. I was the middle child. I just finished two exhibitions in London of collaborations I've created with poets for over forty-five years. I have 2,000 books on Art, Poetry, and Literature for browsing on a rainy day. I am an amateur naturalist and happy to share what I know about the area.

Why robert perkins chose Virgin
I love Nature and first visiting Zion National Park from the East Coast, it's red rock and stunning beauty took my breath away. I was lucky to come across this property in the heart of Cave Valley, a ten-minute walk away from uncrowded Zion Park hiking on one side and BLM land on the other. As a friend said to me, "Rob, you certainly live in the heart of the artichoke." It's quiet. At night the stars are brilliant as there are not city lights to dim them. Lazalu is green and off the grid with its own well and solar panels. It's an unusual way to live and visit.
What makes this Estate unique
The Solitude and Nature that surround Lazalu are stunning. I know everyone says this but even the locals concede I have an unusual place, among unusual places. When you rent Lazalu there are no other guests. as Thomas Gray put it, "you are far from the madding crowd." Yet, you are within reach of Springdale, St. George and Hurricane, all towns that have what civilization offers. On arrival I would be gald to orient you to what you want. ane

We found Robert to be an exceptionally gracious host with whom it soon became clear we had much in common. The setting is exceptionally peaceful and beautiful with clear views on all sides from the bedrooms through large windows. Mountains, red rock cliffs, outcroppings, fields and sky all around. We had a wonderful familyThanksgiving at this beautiful and fun location. Thanks Robert!

Authentic and Beautiful
Lazalu is a uniquely beautiful place to stay away from the crowds, yet centrally located to enjoy all of Zion National Park. Robert is an amazing host who made himself available to advise about local hikes and activities. We especially loved the privacy, the view, and the stars - so many stars!
Thank you, Jennifer, for your kind words. Hosting you and your family was a pleasure. Lazalu is well suited to hosting families, and I hope we see you again!
Spectacular Zion Getaway
We stayed here with our kids and the grandparents over Thanksgiving 2018; the main room has ample sleeping for a couple and up to four kids -- with comfortable amenities and incredible views looking down on the majestic monoliths of Zion. Although November is a little brisk, wood-stoves kept the modern bungalows perfectly cozy. What's better, Lazalu is situated on the upper Kolob with walk-in or quick drive access to off-the-beaten path sites in Zion National Park. I'll be coming back for sure!
It was a pleasure to have you and your family stay with me!!
Lazalu is very remote. Around us are caves with petroglyphs and nearby dinosaur tracks. Lazalu is next to spectacular hiking and climbing and bike riding in Zion National Park. This area is a geological wonder.
Lazalu is private and quiet. At night the stars are brilliant with no city lights to dim them. It is a restful, healing location. The ancient Indian tribes considered Cave Valley a place of transformation. If you didn;t experience a transformation, at least you can unplug for a few days from your busy life.
