The property was exactly what we were looking for. It was right on the lake but also nestled in the woods. It was so quiet and private. We loved it and definitely want to go back already!
This was our second time staying at the same house and this time was even better than the first time. House was clean, the check process was easy, and host was excellent .
This was a last minute booking. Relaxing, fun, great views. Perfect weekend. Owner was very responsive if any communication was needed. Will book again! Thank you
Entire family enjoyed our stay! Grandkids enjoyed swimming in Lake Michigan and then to get out of the sun a little bit, they played Pac-Man and Digdug in the game room. We loved both falling asleep and waking up listening to waves crash!
I would re-book in a heart beat!!! This place was AMAZING!! It was absolutely beautiful, had everything we needed, and the host did a great job with answering right away. LOVED IT!!!
Very private lake house. Right on the lake with amazing private beach. House sits in thick woods. Basement is a bit basementy, but not sure how you get around that. Overall, great experience.
Despite no air conditioning, the basement had a bad musty smell and we were unable to use the downstairs bathroom and had to share the one in the master, we did enjoy our stay at this property. The main floor was clean and provided a good space for us all to hang out. The house had recently been updated with new very slippery wood floors and cool modern chairs, including an awesome massage chair that we all took turns using. The king size bed in the master bedroom was extremely comfortable.
The beach access was wonderful and the views were spectacular. All of the children and the dog loved it.
Overall if the basement were to be updated and the leaks in the laundry room were fixed that are causing the musty mildew smell in the basement, causing it to seem wet and air conditioning were to be installed, we would definitely consider going back.

Once a gem but needs a deep clean
We loved the beach, hot tub and the upper floor of this mid century modern home. Beautiful setting and views! The upper level with the master, kitchen, living room and bath were clean. There is not a gym or laundry as listed. Most of the pull down screens are unusable or damaged allowing misquotes in. The lower level smelled of mildew and improved a bit as we stayed. Air conditioning is sketchy and the bedroom areas in lower level had visible cobwebs and spiders but we delt with it. I did mention issues to the maintenance man and he said he would address it with the owner. There were other issues they did addressed that I won’t go into but we felt the cost was high for what we experienced in the lower level and the lack of laundry and gym as listed. I have pictures.

You can please some people some of the time but can’t please everyone.
We sent the maintenance person over because she said that the grass off near the woods was too high. Then she complained that the grill was the worse she’d seen in 15 years; it was purchased from Home Depot for $600 in May 2025. The house does not have a gym. It has a recumbent bike and some other exercise equipment. The temperature was over 100° and the commercial dehumidifier and the air conditioning units were taxed, especially because she kept the windows open.
It doesn’t seem like this was a good fit for the guest and I’m sorry about that but you’re on a private beach surrounded by multimillion dollar properties an hour away from Milwaukee two hours away from Chicago. The home is not brand new but it’s well-maintained and cleaned.
We had a wonderful stay at Ernest's house last week! The location is fantastic - steps from a sandy beach, surrounded by tall evergreens. Short drive to the town grocery store, and just a little further away is a Target, Walmart, and other stores for essentials. Centrally located if you wanted to take daytrips to Milwaukee, Port Washington, Sheboygan (great farmer's market!), or Cedarburg, though really, you won't want to leave the property.
The beachfront patio was amazing for stargazing, Monarch-watching. and enjoying watching the waves crash during the day and a distant lightning storm at night.
Don't let negative reviews deter you. We did not experience any issues. Sure, the bathrooms are outdated, but they are very clean. Yes, there's a smell to the water, but sulfurous water is incredibly common in homes along the lake, so it's not unexpected. Whether or not the owner stayed in the guest house, I couldn't tell you. If he did, we never saw him nor heard from him at all unless we emailed with a question, to which he responded nearly immediately.
The home is tastefully decorated. We made great use of the sunroom, the hot tub, the fully stocked kitchen supplies. Linens, essentials, and even some fun treats were supplied.
We will absolutely consider Ernest's property for future vacations, and you should, too.
My family and I did a quick stay for thanksgiving. The property is actually even nicer than the photos! The hot tub was amazing. The dining room and view were amazing. The host was very responsive to questions. My only suggestion is the property could have been a touch cleaner —especially the showers. But it did not detract from our great trip, and we would definitely go back again.
We had a wonderful time. The property is beautiful. The private beach is amazing. Our 4 German shepherd dogs had a great time running the beach and property. This is the perfect place to relax, unplug, and unwind.
This home was perfect for our extended family of 10. On the main level were several rooms, including a large living area, one bedroom and a separate full bath. 3 bedrooms with one full bath and a separate family room with microwave and drink refrigerator on the lower level. Nice old piano in the main living area was a hit with everyone. Lovely beach area. Beautiful sun/dining room. We hope to be back.
We loved our weekend at this house. Came with extended family for the annual Holland Festival in nearby Cedar Grove. We especially enjoyed the quirky library and decor (mid-century furniture, Sonos sound systems, interesting artwork)The beach in the backyard is gorgeous. Walked the dog along the charming country road. Watched the orange full moon rise while roasting marshmallows at the fire pit. Got to meet the friendly owner when he came to collect the trash. Carpe diem!

I meet them and helped them with their bags into the house and then told them that I hoped it wouldn’t rain all week as it was expected to do. They suddenly didn’t want me to help them with their bags. Soon afterwards, vrbo said that they had left and wanted a refund. I said no. After they realized that they would not be given a refund they returned back to the beach home, invited guests, used the gift baskets, and stayed the week. I have other properties which I rent, some are connected by shared driveways. I had traveled to NYC on business and when I returned the place was left dirty and a mess with a broken deck chair, lamp, there was sand in my $3.000 new washing machine which I had to have a plumber come and clean our and they left their garbage out. They would not be welcomed back.

Amazing location and amazing house
My stay here with a group of friends was amazing! Wish I could have stayed longer. The house is beautiful and has a lot of character. It feels secluded and tucked away from other houses. We loved the hot tub and the beautifully groomed beach that’s about 50 feet away from the back door. The house has many internet connected appliances like Sonos speakers, Alexas, and connected kitchen for people who like that sort of thing. We enjoyed the baby grand piano. It even has a pinball room! I was really pleased with the stay, and I definitely hope to go back.

Gorgeous home! Very nicely furnished and had everything we needed. Quite comfortable! Surprising how secluded the home is, given it's right on the lake. Felt like we were out in the country, with woods on 3 sides and the lake immediately behind us. Love the 3 season room with the view of the lake. In fact, lake view from every room facing that way! Plenty of space if you have several people with you, but wonderful retreat for just the 2 of us. Town very close for restaurants and food. Was fun to walk through the home and just imagine what life might have looked like back when the home was first built.
Would like to come back in the summer.
