Bedrooms: 3, King, Queen, Two Twins and Full Futon, plus Trundle and Queen Futon in Loft
Your own sandy shore on the most pleasant bay in Door County! This gorgeous two-story 2,800 square-foot reclaimed log cabin home on Sand Bay features 165 feet of waterfront tucked between the trees. A footbridge extending from the spacious water-facing deck leads you to the bay through rustling cedar trees. The shallowness of Sand Bay is ideal for the whole family; safe for kids and gentle waves. Lots of birdlife, watch for the bald eagles! Beach toys and towels, rafts, three kayaks, a stand-up paddle board and a beachside picnic table are all provided.
For easy excursions walk, bike, kayak or wade less than a third of a mile to Sand Bay Town Park for a larger public beach with grills, picnic tables and a kayak launch. You can also hike or bike to Wagon Trail Campground and Rowley’s Bay Resort & Restaurant with access to the Mink River and its estuary… great fishing! Rowley’s Bay Resort does a famous Door County fish boil dinner and serves coffee and sweet rolls at Grandma’s Swedish Bakery. Beautiful Newport State Park is nearby also.
Back at the house wash off in the outdoor shower and get the grill fired up. Have cocktails and marshmallows around the beachside fire-pit and play family games like the outdoor Jenga or cornhole sets. The rising night sky to the east is entertainment for a highly-recommended “moon-rising party” with telescope. Indoors, a variety of card and board games are provided as well as a ping-pong table in the garage and DirectTV with video streaming options on the three TVs. Prefer dinner and an evening out? Both Sister Bay and Ellison Bay centers are just 10 minute drives across the peninsula.
Inside the house there is comfortable but stylish furniture, new for the 2018 season. Enjoy the floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace, firewood provided. Accommodations include a large master bedroom with king-sized bed, sitting area, and en suite bathroom with dual sinks and a soaking tub. Upstairs there is a guest bedroom with queen bed and a “kid’s room” with two twin beds and couch that folds into a twin/full. Then there is a an upstairs landing which also sleeps up to five more adults or kids on a large futon, a two-twin trundle bed and a single daybed. Overall, the property was the perfect place to spend a weekend away. The only thing that would have made the experience slightly better is if the beach of property would have been a little nicer, but it no means ruined the trip.

Lovely retreat.
A beautiful home! Our only complaint was that there were not screens on the windows.
