This house is in an extremely good location. Just walk outside and you are right in town with shopping and dining just around the corner. A short walk to the Shore Path was really nice for a morning walk. One word of warning...the Chocolate Moose is just about 50 feet away! Pretty dangerous passing that every day! Fabulous goodies in there. Also, highly recommend McKays for dinner. We ate there twice, delish! And great service.
The house itself could use some updating, but we were relatively comfortable. The downstairs shower stall literally measures 3 square feet. It took some maneuvering to make that work, and I am a very small person. Better off to use the upstairs tub/shower combo. I am really surprised no one mentioned this in any of the reviews I read. The furniture needs an overhaul, too. I know renters can be tough on things, but the couches really should be replaced.
Kitchen was well equipped but has the typical cookware...rather beat up. I know most people eat out, but I cook most of my meals, so I was sorry I hadn't brought some of my own things, as I usually do. There was a blender in the photos so I counted on using that when I got there. It was not there, so I had to buy one.
All that being said, I would still rent here again. There was a problem with the water heater, but the owners had it up and running again in just a couple of hours. We sure appreciated the quick response.
We stayed here in late April. A lot of shops were still closed for the season. Looks like things don't get going until around Memorial Day and early June here. However, there were still plenty of places to browse and some really good eats in town. And this time of year can't be beat for zero crowds. We went to Acadia almost every day and practically had the place to ourselves. Be aware, though, that the restrooms in Acadia were still closed for the season.
I recommend this rental property to anyone who prefers to walk to most everything and would rather leave their car behind for a good part of their vacation.
