Overview

About the property

Nonsmoking, Immaculate 2 bedroom , 1 queen, 1 twin-trundle, and sleeper sofa

This charming, immaculate, and nonsmoking older home's interior was newly renovated in 2014. Located on a quiet side street in a family neighborhood in downtown Bar Harbor. It has an open floor plan & hard wood floors throughout. All new appliances. There are 2 bedrooms - 1 with a queen, - 1 with a twin-trundle, plus a queen sleeper sofa in living room. A port-a-crib is available.

The walls are hung with original paintings of Mount Desert Island, and Acadia National Park. Full laundry, wi-fi, cable tv, and a pleasant yard with picnic table and grill to share complete the package. While the apartment comfortably holds 6, ideally this home is best suited for a family - 2 parents and kids, or 3 or 4 adults. The trundle bed is not to be used by anyone weighing more than 100 lbs.

We are situated in the southeastern end of town, and are a few blocks to The Village Green, and the Island Explorer bus hub (runs from Jun-Oct) , Mount Desert Island Hospital, The Abbe Museum, Jesup Memorial Library, St. Saviour's Church and its' Tiffany stained glass windows, Reel Pizza, and all the shops and restaurants. Town Pier, Agamont Park, Albert Meadow, the YMCA, Compass Harbor, the Jackson Lab, and the majestic views of the Porcupine Islands are all within a 5-10 minute walk.

We are also within walking distance to the Village Connector trails into Acadia. Compass Harbor and the ruins of George Dorr's family home are just a few blocks south. The Schooner Head Path is accessed off the Compass Harbor Trail. The Great Meadow Loop is accessed off Cromwell Harbor Road, just north of the ball fields. It connects to Jesup Path, Dorr Mountain, Homans Path, Kebo Connector Trails, and much more.

For winter visitors - Acadia National Park is a winter wonder-land! Hiking (crampons a must), Nordic Skiing on groomed trails in the park, snow-shoeing, skating, ice-fishing, & sledding are all in the mix. Winter night skies are hypnotizing. We have the darkest skies east of the Mississippi. If you are interested in astronomy and star-gazing - ANP is your place!. MDI & ANP are under appreciated in winter! Do yourself a favor and come to this magical frozen place!

Wonderful visit!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay in this clean and comfortable home! It was so close to town that we could walk everywhere, but it was still very quiet and peaceful. The house had everything we needed and even had toys and books for our kids to enjoy. Susan was kind, quick to respond and gave us many helpful suggestions for fun things to do with our two young children. We had an amazing week and will definitely plan to come back and stay here again! Thank you again Susan!! :)

Ideal location to explore Bar Harbor and Acadia

  • 5 of 5

This is our second summer in a row at Susan’s place. We love it.

Perfect location. Walk anywhere in town. Walk or a short drive/bus trip to be in Acadia National Park.

Family friendly (we were 2 adults plus an 18 month old). Short walk/stroller to playground, to indoor pool (YMCA), to outdoor wading pool, and to library. House layout is great for a family.

Susan is wonderful host. We had a great stay at her place (again) and I’m sure we will be back.

Great Acadia/Bar Harbor Location

  • 5 of 5

A great place to hang the hat after hiking in Acadia or strolling through the town. We ended up on the Shore Path every morning before heading into Acadia (10 min drive) or the town (2 min walk).

Perfect As Always

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing time!!! The house was great as always!! This was our 4th year staying there. Susan is so great!!! My daughter remembered a toy she had played with a few years ago and Susan knew just what it was and brought it down to play with. Susan is always updating and making the space feel more like home. We look forward to next summer!!!

Wonderful home, excellent location!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Susan's home. It had all of the comforts we needed, and was perfect for a young family. Our kids enjoyed the toys, games and books as well! House was very clean (always a relief with a toddler in tow) and walking distance to everything we desired in Bar Harbor. Susan was so responsive, and provided us with excellent recommendations for restaurants and activities. We will definitely be back!

Walk to everything in town, plus easy access to Acadia

  • 5 of 5

We had a great week in Bar Harbor. Susan's property is right in town so we could just leave our car in the driveway and not have to find parking when we wanted to explore the local restaurants and attractions. It is a piece of cake to drive into Acadia from this location on the south side of town, with multiple routes to the park that avoided the busy downtown streets. We also took advantage of our close proximity to the Island Explorer shuttle stop at the Village Green - just a couple of blocks away - when we were visiting parts of Acadia where parking is a challenge.

The apartment itself is quite pleasant, with a very nice kitchen and plenty of eating space for our family of four, plus a comfortable living room where we could relax during our downtime. The bedrooms are small but adequate; I agree with a previous reviewer's suggestion that blackout curtains would be a nice touch. It was also great to have laundry available; we spent a lot of time playing outdoors at ANP and being able to pack clean clothes at the end of the trip saved us a lot of stinkiness. We did not make much use of the outdoor space; the appeal here is more the proximity to town and the apartment's amenities than having great views (Acadia and Bar Harbor have plenty of those!).

Susan was very accommodating and responsive. She arranged to provide us with better lamps for our nightstands and fixed the WiFi within minutes when we experienced a glitch.

Owner's Response: HI Chris - thank you so much for your suggestion of the black out curtain. I did get them. I'm so glad that you enjoyed your time here. Your daughters are adorable and I appreciated their note and drawing! Take care - you are always welcome! Susan
