Wonderful location to Arcadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Had all the cooking tools we needed for a family of 7. Beds were comfortable. Melanie was a great host and we strongly encourage people who want to visit Bar Harbor and Arcadia National Park to stay at this location as it’s easy in and out. Picture included is from our star glazing night off the back deck.
This location was amazing! Super close to everything, but you felt like you were in the middle of the woods.A ton of space for everyone in our family, including the pup. We would love to stay again!
Perfect for our visit to Bar Harbor & Acadia National Park
This home was perfect for our stay in Bar Harbor. So close to the Acadia National Park entrance and visitors center and to the downtown Bar Harbor area. The hike had everything we needed to make the most of our stay.
Convenient and quiet location. Very comfortable home. Bedrooms clean and inviting as well as bathrooms. Well stocked kitchen re appliances and necessary ware.
Our family of four and dog had a wonderful week here! It was perfectly located to get around the island by car and had everything we needed at the house. The yard was huge for the kids and dog to run around. Thanks for having us!
Bar Harbor traffic is crazy! Was so nice to be just outside in a call, serene setting. House worked great for us. Loved all the toys (inside and outside) and children’s books for my kids. House has tons of character! Would recommend anyone stay here.
As soon as we entered the home we knew we were in for a fantastic stay! We had so much room to spread out, the kitchen and the deck is where we spent most of our time though. Sitting on the deck, looking out into the meadow was amazing. The home had all the things we needed, we even cooked dinner there one night. Loved our stay and when we hopefully return to Bar Harbor, we will want to stay here again!
The home was very comfortable for our group and Melanie was great at communicating with us. My only suggestion to Melanie would be to have a nicer kitchen setup with enough matching plates and accessories. Maybe some nicer bath towels would be great too. Thanks for the stay!
We traveled with our adult children and the house was perfect. It is very close to Acadia and also to the shops and restaurants in Bar Harbor. It has an open floor plan, a big kitchen, and a welcoming back deck and yard, which were all perfect for relaxing between activities and cooking at the house. The owner was a good communicator. Overall, it was a great rental!
This home was a perfect private place for a small family gathering. We had ample space for game/movie night on the rainy days with room tor cooking and meals for eight. The location was wonderful for short drives to Jordan pond, Cadillac mountain and walking the Shore path for beginner hikers. The Bee Hive was for the more ambitious of group. The Bar Harbor Inn was especially nice to have lunch and cocktails while viewing the harbor and enjoying the warmth from the fire pit. Overall our family had a wonderful time in Bar Harbor and the surrounding area.
We stayed here with our extended family including a toddler and infant. The house has a long driveway so it sits away from the road and the outdoor space is wonderful. We loved sitting on the deck after hikes. There were lots of toys and a play set out back for the kids to enjoy. The kitchen was well-stocked. The only complaint is the carpet in two of the upstairs bedrooms was stained and worn, but they had replaced the carpet in the hallway and master so I assume the bedrooms are next. There is also plenty of parking - we had three cars and could have easily fit two more. It’s a perfect location for exploring Acadia. I was worried about staying outside of Bar Harbor but am happy we did - the yard was so pleasant to relax in after a day in the park.
Our stay at the "Post and Beam Home on Meadow" was wonderful! We had seven adults and a small dog all comfortably accommodated at this beautiful home.
Mornings were spent on the deck, watching deer wander by in the large open meadow beyond the yard, and listening to singing birds.
The meals we had in home were prepared in the beautiful and well appointed kitchen which had all we needed (including a propane grill on the covered entry way.
The dining room for eating and games, and the living room for lounging was perfect for us.
All of the bedrooms were comfortable (the master bedroom and bath were extremely spacious).
The house could not have been closer to everything we wanted to visit, but was set back from the road so we felt perfectly isolated and could her no passing cars.
At night, the view of the stars (and satellites) was awesome.
We definitely would recommend this home for anyone needing the space and who enjoy relaxing in the outdoors.
Thank you Melanie for your help.
So, we came with 2 adults and 3 teen boys PLUS our sweet dog. Sometimes we feel like a circus rolling into town! This house was the perfect location for us. We drove up from VA so we have our own car - commuting to town or into Acadia was a breeze. Having the NP nearby was what lured my husband out every morning for a long hike or walk with the dog. As a family accessing the park in such a short time gave us opportunities to go to more than one “destination” in the park in one day. Parking in town - as busy as it seems! - was easy as well. Use the Parking app and it was just EASY. We never used the Island Explorer but could definitely see how that would be useful and accessible as well. Back to the house …. The bedrooms are all upstairs- except for one that is on the main floor. The master upstairs has a king bed that is SUPER comfortable. The room itself is HUGE. Bathroom is big and en suite to the master. Other two bedrooms have a Queen and twin, respectively. Guest bath is really good sized. Laundry room upstairs is a huge selling point for us! We are fam of five and doing laundry while there for two weeks is a must. Master bedroom has a skylight - which is a lovely feature for natural light, BUT!, if you’re like me and like to sleep past sunrise it can’t be a little bright. Melanie has a wall A/C unit (the nice kind with remote control, different speeds, temps, etc.). We found if we set it at the right temp, kept the door open and had one of the box fans pointed towards the other two bedrooms, it cooled off nicely. There were a lot of fans(I only mention this because the first week we were there it was unseasonably HOT - 2nd week was cooler.) Main floor bedroom AND the living room had portable A/C units which cool everything perfectly. Again, it was HOT the first week so cooling down at home was necessary. The main floor was great! Big ole table as well as seating at the bar. We didn’t do a lot of cooking other than breakfasts but there was a TON of pans and cooking utensils. The coffee maker was SO nice. Keurig unit that you could use for ground coffee for a lot of coffee OR K-cups. Fridge was modern and empty for our groceries (for 5 of us). French doors led to deck and the nice private backyard area. Living room furniture was super cozy (we’ve been places where it’s super uncomfortable or in crappy condition). ***Only complaints: could use more towels & newer ones. Pantry space for food. WE LOVED IT!! We hope to go back again!! Thank you!
