About Marie Yarborough

We have lived in Bar Harbor for over 15 years. Marie began working at the Jordan Pond House during summers, earning money to pay for college. After traveling to France to visit family, a road-trip across the United States, and finishing graduate school she moved to MDI for good. Kyle came to Acadia after graduating from college in the South. He planned to work in different national parks across the country. After working in Glacier National Park in Montana, he headed to Acadia for one season, where Marie and Kyle's paths finally crossed. The rest is history! We now own and operate a small bistro in Bar Harbor and Marie is a Ranger at Acadia. We feel lucky to call this amazing place home, and could not imagine raising our young family anywhere else.

Marie Yarborough purchased this house in 2011

Why Marie Yarborough chose Bar Harbor

This property is close to everything wonderful about in-town Bar Harbor, but still quiet and residential-the best of both worlds. You can sleep with your windows open and smell the ocean when you wake. It is modern, clean, uncluttered, and filled with all the amenities you'll need to make your stay relaxing. We have a personal and professional knowledge of the park and MDI, and would love to share our favorite spots to enjoy the park and island with you.

What makes this house unique

You won't find an easier, more convenient place to stay in Bar Harbor, if you are a family or a couple! You can walk to the Great Meadow Path right from the cottage, or hop in your car to access the Park Loop Road in 5 minutes, at the end of our street.

Spacious cottage & close to all the action!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had a great time visiting Mount Desert Island, and enjoyed our stay at the Chickadee Cottage very much. The location was perfect - near everything we wanted to do on our vacation. About a 10 minute walk to restaurants & shopping in Bar Harbor. Easy access to the Park Loop Road, which was perfect for all the biking & hiking we did! The cottage was clean and spacious, and had everything we needed for the week.

Wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5

The Chickadee cottage was a wonderful fit for the four of us - it had everything we needed, was close to downtown and only a short drive from Acadia National Park. It was the perfect place to come back to after a long day of hiking, sightseeing, or shopping. It is plenty spacious and comfortable for two couples or a family on vacation. Hoping we get the opportunity to stay again in the future, thanks Marie & Kyle!

Nice three bedroom house within walking distance to Bar Harbor restaurants and shops.

  • 4 of 5

Everything my husband and I needed for our week. We rented bikes and were able to store them on the patio beside the house. The neighborhood was safe and quiet. Lots of helpful information on Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park provided by owners in a welcome folder.

Simple home, close to everything great in Bar Harbor and Acadia

  • 4 of 5

Had a great week in Kyle and Marie's comfortable house. Really well located to Acadia and walkable to Bar Harbor and all its attractions, cafes and restaurants. House was a good size for myself, husband and almost 4 year old and had everything we needed. Marie was a good host, very easy to get in touch with and responsive to queries. Would recommend!

EVERYTHING!!! you need under one roof

  • 5 of 5

Walking through the front door you instantly feel at home. Chickadee Cottage was everything we needed for our trip to Maine. A comfortable place to relax after a day of hiking in Acadia National Park(Which is only a mile or two away). Close to everything downtown and owners who made sure to give you your space but still close enough that if you had issues they could respond quickly. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and silverware. The fridge was as nice as you'd find in your own home and a nice dishwasher made cleanup after meals a breeze. We stayed in one of the two upstairs bedrooms and were very pleased with how everything was layed out. Open the windows and let the ocean breeze put you to sleep! Bathroom was nice and the water pressure in the shower was great! Plenty of warm/hot water as well. Didn't watch much TV except in the AM to get the local weather forecast but it was a nice updated flat screen. Off street parking was nice too! A family of five would not feel crowded here. All in all one of the better VRBO places we've stayed. Thank You Marie and Kyle for a great week. Hopefully our travels will bring us back. Jim & Lisa
