Set on a private road in the hills just north of Pittsfield, our house welcomes you - in all seasons. Right in the heart of the Northeast’s best winter-sports, it is about 10 miles to the Killington and Pico ski resorts. Sugarbush, Okemo, and the famous Mad River Glen are all within easy reach for day trips. For golfers, Vermont’s #1 public golf course, Green Mountain National, is only ten minutes away, and in addition to Killington's own course, there are a surprising number of other courses within an hour’s drive.

The house is a comfortable and spacious (2,000+ sq.ft) three-bedroom contemporary split into four levels. It’s a perfect place to relax and have fun whether you’re on your own or with a group. With the large living area, the dining room and the den on different levels, the house caters to large numbers of people yet still affords privacy. While you soak up the heat of the big fieldstone fireplace upstairs, the gang could be watching TV or playing games downstairs.

The kitchen is big enough for family eat-in, and the dining room seats 10-12 comfortably. The two upper levels are especially bright and airy with high cathedral ceilings and numerous skylights. The two bedrooms on the lower middle level sleep 3 & 4 respectively and share a full bath. The master bedroom on the lower ground level sleeps 5 and has its own bathroom.

Though the ski areas and golf courses are probably the main attractions, there are a number of activities available right from the doorstep. Picturesque hiking/snowshoeing trails lead straight from the house into the vast forests of the Green Mountains. There are other trails nearby (no need to drive) that are suitable for cross country skiing or mountain biking. And if you’re into something even more vigorous, the Vermont snowmobile trail network (VAST) is accessible from less than a half mile away.

In addition to the above, there are facilities for tennis, racquetball, bungee jumping (yikes!), alpine slide, swimming, fishing streams, tubing, music, theater, shopping, and any number of other activities nearby.

About David Easum

I'm probably not your average Vermont vacation home landlord. I consider myself to be from New York City, but I have lived and worked all over the world - primarily with a focus on telecommunications in Africa. Though I may have only played a small part, I can lay claim to having contributed over my 15 years in the mobile industry to providing mobile telephone services to more than 300 million people on the continent. Today that number has swelled to about 700 million! When I first started, there were fewer telephones in the whole of Africa than in Manhattan - mobile or otherwise!

Still on the same crusade, but I'm now focused on developing telecom businesses in the fiber optic transmission sector. I am now based in Nigeria (of all places!) after having lived the previous twelve years in Holland, Spain, Egypt and Burundi.

Why David Easum chose Vermont

I have always been a skier. I started going up to Killington from New York in the early eighties, renting and organizing share houses to be able to afford the season's ski pass and the gas in my old Pontiac. On occasion I would bring my parents along and they decided they liked the area - especially in the fall and summer. Hence the decision to buy a house there - on condition that I help defray the costs by running it as a share house in the winter.

It was great fun for many years but when I moved overseas again it was impractical to run as before. So I started renting it by the season, and now for short-termers as well. I now own the house and this website has been a real benefit to keeping the place going. Though the rent never really manages to pay all the bills, I get good reviews and they encourage me to invest in making the house more and more comfortable every year.

When I'm lucky, I can occasionally squeeze in between the bookings and enjoy the place myself for a few days!

Thank you for letting us rent your home, we had an awesome time! It was my first time skiing in 60+ degree weather! The snow actually held up better than I thought, although all trails were makeshift moguls by 2pm which became pretty tiring, but we still had a blast. It was a beautiful weekend altogether and we really enjoyed the calmness, especially the sound of the nearby brook/stream.

Killington Area Ski House in Pittsfield Vermont

This house was just as described and better...very very clean and well maintained. Everything you need (from dishes to pots to hand towels and washer /dryer were available)...there were even a few snow sleds!!!

Very private location but close to the action too. Just outside a quaint town with a general store/gasoline and a quick ride to the base of the mountain and the "action" if you like.

Also, within walking distance of the national forest/trails...such a beautiful sight.

Owner is great to do business with...such a pleasure (he was always available via phone/email). Would recomend to anyone (from young to old).

Stayed over for two nights and had an excellent time. The house is in very well condition and it is in a phenomenal location. David was very helpful throughout the process of booking and getting settled in, made it very easy for us!

Excellent property, great Renter Experience

Recently stayed at David's place in Pittsfield new Killington for the Memorial Day weekend. Was up there with a large group of 13 people and It was very spacious and well maintained. It felt private which is important to me, out of cell network which was a blessing in disguise. (But plan accordingly) Overall very happy with the trip, and David's attentiveness and instruction made the whole process very easy. 5 Stars. I would recommend for your future trips.

(If I was going to suggest anything to improve for its own sake. The grill in the back was a little dinky)

Everything you need!

The house was very clean and spacious. Although a little dated (carpeted kitchen and bathroom off kitchen), I actually liked the vintage feel and, again, everything was very clean. The kitchen had every cooking utensil and supply you would need and the fireplace was by far the best part, made it very cozy. It was close to a little convenience store to pick up the necessities (food and booze), a gas station and a couple breakfast places. We were attending the Spartan race at Killington and it wasn't too far of a ride to the mountain, very conveniently located for skiers in the winter. David (the owner) was excellent to deal with and very responsive and helpful. My only suggestion would be to invest in a couple new mattresses at some point, a couple of them sank very low and you could feel the springs so they weren't comfortable, but since there were only 4 of us we had plenty of beds to choose from and were able to find a comfy place to sleep. I would definitely recommend this rental!

Owner's Response: Hi Jill, Thanks for the great review. You are the second person to make mention of a couple of the beds not being up to par - so I guess I need to do something about that! But as I mentioned in my response to the other reviewer in question, I got a review a while back talking about how comfy they were! Go figure. :) My sister was just up at the house and I asked her to look into it. It would seem that the problem is not so much the mattresses (of which most are quite recent) but a couple of the box springs that don't give good support, coupled with bed-frames that are just rickety. Time for some replacements! As for the carpeted kitchen and 1/2 bath, I agree - it's not ideal. I have a plan to modernize that going forward. I've just gotta get the finances figured out since I hope to do more than just the floor coverings. I should have all of this taken care of next spring, so I hope you have a chance to come back and check it out! Best regards, David

Great property with amazing living space and located in a beautiful setting

One of the best vacation rentals I have stayed at.

The location was perfect for exploring Vermont. Most places we wanted to explore were an hour away or less. Also, the setting/views were beautiful.

Living space was great. We made use of the fireplace, pool table, and large dining table.

Only negative was that the beds were not very comfortable. I wouldn't expect super comfy beds at a vacation rental like this...however, I think the owner should strive for incremental improvement here. Notice that the positives greatly outweighed this and I still thought the property deserved 5 stars and I would definitely consider staying again next time I visit Vermont.

Owner's Response: Hi Mark, Thanks for the great review - and thanks for being frank about the beds. I agree with you that they could be due for an upgrade. On the other hand, I got a review a while back talking about how comfy they were! Go figure. :) The last time I was there I replaced a couple of the mattresses, and I think that over the last 6-8 years, I have progressively replaced most of them (including the sofabeds). Some of them are the fancy "memoryfoam" type, but I guess that for the next round of replacements, I'll have to go a good notch higher on the quality scale - and probably ditch the somewhat rickety bed-frame for one of the singles. Thanks again for pointing this out. Since I am not often there, a bit of constructive criticism really helps me to stay on top of things! David

Wonderful Stay

I stayed at Eagle Rock, VT with 14 other people and we had a fabulous stay... The house had everything we needed, incl. enough space for everyone to be. We had two kids with us, and they had plenty of entertainment with the pool table, table tennis, games and books. I would definitely go back.
