Great Cabin Retreat
My family just had a much needed escape into the calming landscape of the Green Mountains. The cabin was the perfect place to unwind, disconnect and recharge the soul in mountainside privacy. We loved the open floor plan, having coffee on the porch with the hummingbird, and the stocked kitchen. The kids loved the swing, the bedroom loft and let their imagination run with the "takeout" window. When we needed peace and quiet fireside the home theater provided even more entertainment for the kids.
The cabin is located an hour, give or take, from Killington, Stowe, Montpelier, or Burlington making it a convenient starting point to explore those areas. Smaller towns are 15 minutes away and the binder the owners put together will help find anything you may need. The mud room has maps of trails and terrain in the area marked with local attractions and the ever helpful "you are here". The main highway has many access points to swim holes. Each unique and rewarding in its own right, all were clean and refreshing. Hiking and swimming all day was followed up by soaking the kinks out in the hot tub.
We booked before Covid was a thing and Jeff has been there through all of the uncertainty and confusion to address any questions or concerns we had. His response time was fast and he was a pleasure to work with. Jeff has built the perfect cabin getaway. We are all looking forward to returning for more adventures.
Had a wonderful time with my mother and sister beautiful area very relaxing. The cabin was beautiful and clean.
Thanks Sarah, I am so glad you had a nice stay with your mother and sister. It is a great place to unplug and connect with family. Please come again as we love return guests.
Beautiful Cabin in the Vermont wilderness
My husband and I had an amazing stay at this property. We were looking to get out of the city for a week and escape to a place where we could have some peace and quiet. This cabin was the perfect fit. It's located a good way off of the main road and it made for some great hiking, both in the nearby national forest and on the property! There is also a beautiful river in the valley that is fun to drive along. Though we did not make a stop there on this visit, we are hoping to return someday soon and that will be our first stop. We also took a drive out to the Ben & Jerry Ice Cream factory for some curbside pickup. It took about an hour, and it was so fantastically beautiful. In our opinion, it was definitely worth the trip.
The cabin was the perfect size for us and our cats. The spiral staircase provided much entertainment for our younger cat, while our older lady fell in love with the large window and hardly moved our entire trip, in short, we were all in heaven.
The kitchen was well stocked with tools and appliances, and the grill was a nice option for cooking dinner. We made a wide variety of meals with ease and enjoyed them on the lovely kitchen table, the porch, and the picnic table!
All in all, this was a spectacular and memorable trip. Just what we were looking for.
Thank you for your kind words Erica and Nick. I'm so glad you had a great stay and that it was what you were hoping for. It's a simple place, but in such a serene setting with so many beautiful views/walks nearby. I hope you can come back and stay again!
My wife and I along with our three young children were simply looking for a safe and socially distant place to escape to. Man did this place deliver that for us. The nearby towns are so nice and picturesque. We tried lots of great local food and beer which was awesome. We explored some beautiful swimming holes and did some awesome hikes...the kids absolutely loved it all!! And then at the end of an adventurous day, going home to the lovely cabin to wind down in the hot tub and swing...what more could we ask for. My girls were crying that they didn't want to leave so I'd say that sums up how much fun we had. The house was beautiful and tucked away atop a nice dirt road. So much wildlife and greenery to take in at the property itself and on all your drives. Jeff was quick to respond with any questions and my family had a truly great experience. Would 100% recommend this place.
Thank you so much... we are so glad to hear this. It sounds like you and your family really got the most out of your stay. It's always nice to know that others feel the same about this part of Vermont the same way we do. It is indeed very special and offers so much. Not to mention, it is very peaceful and a great place to recharge and relax. We'd love to have you come back as we have several repeat renters, including one guest over a dozen times!
Absolutely perfect cabin
Jeff has built and maintains the most magical cabin in Vermont. My husband and I enjoyed a few days retreat here, enjoying the hot tub, the grill, taking walks in the snow and watching movies on the big screen with surround sounds. Have never seen a host so organized - they have thought of and provided everything for a perfect few days in the winter.
Thanks so much, Ashley. We try very hard to provide some good information and to make our guests stay be as easy as possible. We love hearing how it really does help!
Jeff is a Boston area architect/contractor from Concord, MA. He designed and restored the cabin on his own, working weekends for three years. Initially, his wife was reluctant to tackle such a project, but now done, she is the cabin's biggest fan. Designed and built for his family, Jeff has left no detail undone and enjoys sharing their home here with others.

Why Jeff chose Granville
This part of Vermont is close to Boston (less than 3 hours), yet far enough to be in the heart of pristine Vermont. Jeff has been coming to this area since the mid 1970's and dreamed of having a retreat here for 35 years. Skiing is only 15-30 minutes away, and several romantic villages are nearby, giving endless options to explore and enjoy. Being on 10 acres and in Granville, it is also very private and peaceful. Often we just spend the weekend there, relaxing and basking in the cabin's great light and warmth.
What makes this Cabin unique
Although the existing cabin was in sad repair, Jeff saw the potential, and had the vision, tools and skills to make it happen. It is now our favorite place to be and we have established many great relationships there. It is a very active and engaging community, which we love being a part of and welcome others to share in, too!
