This light, airy, kid-friendly, family home with the charm of a New England summer home is an easy, 4-minute walk to Old Silver Beach (rights to public and private sections). With 4 bedrooms, this Cape-Cod-style, beach house sleeps 8 and offers Central A/C, linens & towels, cable HDTV, high-speed Internet, modern kitchen, microwave, Washer&Dryer, dishwasher, disposal, and 2 bathrooms, but most bathe al fresco in the 'hot & cold' outdoor shower. The rear yard has swings for the kids, gas-grill, and a spacious deck for parents to relax nearby. On a quiet street, the house is just a short walk to Old Silver Beach, which is great for children, with soft sand (no rocks), shallow tide pools to explore, toilets, showers, and a snack bar (but you can walk home for lunch). __FROMMERS Review of OSB: 'Beaches most suitable for children include Old Silver Beach in Falmouth.... This is by far the most popular beach on the Upper Cape, which is why it was the first to raise its prices to $20 per day for day-trippers. On sunny summer days, cars start lining up to get into the parking lot by 9am. Why? It is the closest really good beach to the bridges. It has the widest sandy area and softest sand of the Upper Cape Beaches. It is on Buzzards Bay, so it is not too cold. And because there are no large sand bars nearby, you can get into deep water and swim fairly close to shore, instead of having to wade way out.'
__FODOR'S Review of OSB: 'Old Silver Beach is a long, beautiful crescent of soft white sand bordered by the Sea Crest Resort at one end. It's especially good for small children because a sandbar keeps it shallow at the southern end and creates tidal pools full of crabs and minnows. The beach has lifeguards, restrooms, showers, and a snack bar. There's a $20 fee for parking in summer.
__Public & Private Beach Privileges: Our beach rental includes use of both the public and private sections of Old Silver Beach, and both are just a short stroll from this Falmouth home rental. The public beach is nearer to the snack bar and toilets, which is convenient for children and parents (or you can stroll home in 4 minutes). Just to the north, the private beach beckons with a more exclusive setting. For a vacation rental adventure, bring your bicycles (or rent some from Corner Cycle, in Falmouth) and ride the easy-going (mostly flat and level) Shining Sea Bike Trail to Woods Hole for lunch, a visit to the 'Touch Tanks' at Woods Hole Science Aquarium (closed on Sundays, Mondays, and federal holidays), or a swim at Nobska Beach. Other summer rental activities near our vacation home at Old Silver Beach include golf, pilates, yoga, windsurfing, kayaking, sailing, whale-watching, hiking, and fishing. These are just a few of the endless summer possibilities.
