About this property

Artistic Haven in Hollywood with Pool, Hot Tub, Cabana, and Garden

Exclusive, quiet, and private. As featured in Jones Around the World (Best Airbnbs in Los Angeles)

Get ready to be charmed when you stay in our beautifully appointed and exceptional artistic hideaway, just a 10-minute walk from Grauman's Chinese Theatre in the heart of Hollywood. Enjoy sleeping in a custom-made queen-size bed by French-American owner and sculptor/photographer/filmmaker Pascal Giacomini, who hand-built many of the space's delightful and unique metal and wood furnishings. Completely renovated spacious studio apartment with separate sleeping area and private entrance. Gorgeous new bathroom with marble walls and stone tile floor. Grounds and apartment filled with sculptures and art from Haiti, Papua New Guinea, Brazil, Bali, and Thailand. Our main house has been operating as a private (by appointment) art gallery for over 30 years. (The only reason we don't call this a small one bedroom is because we chose to separate the bedroom from living area with curtains instead of a door cause we like the flow better!)

This is not a shared space, it is your own private apartment that is the downstairs unit of the main house. You are welcome to use the backyard, pool, hot tub, and cabana. Pool can be heated (March- October) for a fee of $100 per night. Please request the pool heater prior to your stay. It'll take about 24 hours to heat. Pool can be used without a heater at your convenience.

Centrally located with many restaurants and the best margaritas in town, all within walking distance. 10-minute walk to Runyon Canyon for spectacular hiking. 5-10 min drive to groceries, shopping, restaurants. 35-40 min drive to the beach. So much to do here.

Parking permit provided free.

Wonderful oasis in a convenient location! This place is even better than pictured and is very comfortable, making a great place to relax after the intensity of LA. Quiet walkable neighborhood with easy access to a wide variety of restaurants, supermarkets, street parking (with provided pass), and several bus lines (with great senior discounts). If you are feeling energetic, you are within a couple of miles walk of some of the most iconic sights. The hosts had great suggestions and even kindly provided some welcome treats after our long flight. Other thoughtful touches are everywhere you turn with something for everyone's preference: extra bath towels, beach/pool towels, extra blankets, your own air conditioner unit, a fan, tea and coffee, kitchen basics, shampoo AND conditioner, etc. You'll wish you had booked a longer stay.

Quiet and comfortable

We very much enjoyed our stay. The neighborhood is very quiet and we never had a problem finding parking on the street (parking pass provided). The apartment is exactly as pictured: compact, efficient, clean, comfortable. Access to the outdoor area is a real benefit. The owners, Carine and Pascal, are hosts who are kind, caring, and have provided everything needed. We loved the location, too. The area of Sunset Blvd the house is nearest isn't the nicest, but it does have an excellent Mexican restaurant. It seemed a bit rundown but not dangerous in any way. The house itself it about a block away and in a lovely quiet residential area.

Great Stay

We had a wonderful stay at this lovely studio. The art work was an added bonus. Parking on the street worked out just fine with the parking permit. Hosts responded very quickly and with graciousness when we had questions. We would love to stay again.

Perfect Spring Break

My daughter and I were planning a trip from Michigan to LA for spring break. We found this amazing apartment on VRBO and immediately thought "that's the place for us!" It's super cute and located centrally to everything we wanted to do. We took a 32-mile bike tour featuring the homes of the rich and famous, plus Santa Monica and Venice Beach; visited Little Tokyo where we enjoyed the Six Taste Food tour and stamped the Ireicho at the Japanes American Museum; went to Disneyland; strolled the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and dined at In & Out burger (both of those walking distance from the apartment). We wrapped up with a taping of the Jennifer Hudson Show. The owners provided excellent instruction for check-in and check-out, even when we arrived at 4:00 a.m. due to travel delays, we were welcomed with a bottle of wine and fresh coffee. We highly recommend! Thanks again.

Good location if you don’t plan to ‘stay in’

I met my husband in LA for a long weekend to visit friends and celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary after spending a few days at a conference on the West coast. Booking our non-refundable stay was easy and a welcome email with instructions gave us everything we needed to check-in and what to expect. My plan was to have a day of relaxation and recovery before hitting the town but on the day we arrived I received an email from the VRBO owner that there “might be some digging in the backyard” which would make the backyard unusable. When we arrived we found the entire backyard (located just outside of the door to the VRBO) completely unusable due to the owners having a pool installed. While not the end of the world, it was disappointing and soured our experience. Also, there were so many flies inside! Not sure if this was because of the digging but regardless it was annoying. Overall, we made the best of it but had I known the cozy backyard was unavailable I would not have booked it as there were plenty of other similar options available. This VRBO is in a good location with easy parking however and would be a good “landing spot” for those not planning on spending much time at the home.

Great Stay in Historic Hollywood Neighborhood!

The apartment was perfect for our stay. It was super clean, well stocked and quiet. The location was ideal for us since we wanted to see all of the Hollywood sights including Mulholland Drive, Beverly Hills, motion picture studio tours, etc. Our hosts were great! Carine gave great instructions and communicated promptly, making it easy for us. Included on-street parking was a plus. Would highly recommend this apartment!

Grounded Peaceful Space.

Just as advertised—a solid, peaceful spot where you can truly relax. The sculpture garden feels like a hidden gem in the middle of West Hollywood’s energy. The 1920s neighborhood still carries its old-school charm, giving the whole place a sense of history and character that’s hard to find.

Great Place to Stay in Hollywood

Carine and Pascal were wonderful hosts! When I had trouble getting the directions to the location, they emailed me the directions. The directions to check-in were perfect and had pictures with wording to direct us as needed. Other items in the apartment were also labeled making it easy to know what to do. Carine also emailed me a list of suggestions to do and restaurants to visit, which was very helpful. We ate out 3 nights and every restaurant was great (Electric Owl, Bossa Nova, and Aroma). The location is great as it's easy to get around using the buses or the metro, such as right up to the door of the Griffith Observatory! Other sites are in walking distance, the Walk of Fame and Grauman's (now TCL) Chinese Theater. The place is colorfully decorated, and the bathroom is very nicely done. The bed was comfortable, and every appliance worked perfectly. The hot tub was a definite plus! Thank you Carine and Pascal for a wonderful stay!

Very nice place

We spent 9 nights and would not hesitate to stay here again. The location worked very well for us. The space was clean and comfortable. Thanks to the clear directions and good communication of the hosts the self check in process was very easy. Parking on their street was no problem. Carine and Pascal were friendly, helpful and very responsive. Just a heads up that there are a few steps down to the unit which may be tricky if you have mobility issues but for most people it’s no problem.

Cute West Hollywood nook

My husband and I were in town for a wedding, and we really enjoyed staying here. The space was clean, inviting, and unique -- we really enjoyed living amidst art (even using one piece as a hanger for my jacket!). The exterior space was also lovely. We would definitely stay here again.

About the host

Hosted by Carine Giacomini

Host profile image
Carine Fabius is a Haitian-American author, museum curator and art dealer. Pascal Giacomini is a French-American sculptor, photographer & filmmaker. We are a married couple who met in Los Angeles, started a Haitian art gallery in our home (Galerie Lakaye was written up in Vanity Fair Magazine!). We love to cook, entertain, hang out with our friends and we love the arts! In a former lifetime, Pascal used to be a tour guide, so he knows L.A. like the back of his hand, and can recommend the best places and sites for you to visit, if you want to see the REAL L.A.

Why they chose this property

We looked for a long time before finding this house, which is a traditional Craftsman house built in 1913. Its charm captured our hearts the first time we saw the "for rent" sign and looked in through the living-room window! We lived in it for 10 years before buying it in 1999. We would never go anywhere else. We love this neighborhood and we have the best neighbors.

What makes this property unique

When you are on our property, you have the best that L.A. has to offer. You are right in the center of Hollywood, but you feel like you are in the countryside because of all the lush landscaping. It's beautiful and quiet here. And people always tell us that they feel a sense of peace when they enter the premises.
