( I don’t expect the studio to be left in such a good condition) , but it really is appreciated . Wendy came on her own , so I checked in on her and she was having a great time and felt relaxed. This was one of my worst bookings My studio is for the everyday traveller, there is nothing of value in there and most people that stay, don't bring valuable items. The studio is where a working couple would live in London if it was rented long term. I thought it was a nightmare when Eli that stayed, informed me that they had been an alleged robbery, on their last night ! I was in total shock, in my eight years of hosting this has never happened. I called the police and they could not understand, that there were no signs of break in, the door was not touched , the windows were intact ,and secure, the master key to the front door, has to be ordered. What I find suspicious, the alleged robbers , did not take the TV, radio or anything else, the place was not ransacked Eli said " nothing had been moved, or touched and there was no sigh of a break in, but someone had gone into a drawer & took something" The keys to the studio are changed regularly as guest have lost them in the past & I am security conscious . We asked the other people who live in the building , who are trustworthy, hard working & have lived there for years, if they had seen anything , also I checked wth the cameras at The queens tennis club (on the corner) and nothing sinister was seen. If a flat was targeted they would target the whole house and make such a mess, I find these accusations hard to believe and questionable I asked the guest if she had insured her belongings and she confirmed her items , were covered. For other people reading this ,I can assure you that, this is not the norm and I have police reports , to back me up . With regards to the guest saying that any successful place becomes a target, I feel I have been targeted. Eli comment about more secure Windows and steel doors, seems somewhat over the top, also seeing none of the doors or windows were forced. The whole thing seems dubious to me. I stayed there for a week after this, to see if anything untoward may occur, nothing did. I asked the neighbours, not one of them noticed anything suspicious . It still baffles me, how the person got it, knew where to look , didn't make any mess at all, didn't break the window or door, and certainly did NOT have keys!!!!! This alleged incident has been most unfortunate, I have communicated with Eli and tried to alleviate any loss she claimed she had. I do hope she had her insurance claim covered I would like to add, I do not have a cleaner, I do all the work myself

Dear Shannon Thank you for the positive feed back, about the area and the studio You mentioned the front door slamming , the studio is in an old Victorian house and the door is very large and heavy, The door is on a spring which helps it close, so it doesn't stay ajar. You did mention in one of your emails to me that you were a light sleeper and your son did not wake at all to the sound of the door. I think if one is a light sleeper, then you will probably wake up or stir to most noises, especially , whilst staying in a new place. The wifi I have is provided by Virgin and they are supposed to be one of the best, when I popped over that day to get the password and ring them, I told you they were having a few problems and improving the service, since you stayed they seem to have improved and the wifi is good . I'm always about to help and fix the small issues, I answer emails and messages as soon as I get them, somethings are out of my control,, one being the wifi 😩�

What’s great about London , it’s very transient, the noisy neighbour and his motorcycle won’t be living there for long . I spoke with him and he’s leaving soon.! What good luck for me! Shame you had to experience the noise. Can I ask my future guest to tell me something , I can actually change or work on . For example , Lots of people live on the flight path in London a part from telling their guest this , they certainly can’t change the flight path , if you get my drift

Alyson's last message to me was 'We've had a great stay & even though hotter than we expected it has been nice to have sunshine so no complaints' Considering she claims to have no complaints then why has she left complaints in her review? She said the area was dodgy and was never mentioned in any previous reviews, the reason being, the area is not dodgy please read reviews saying how pleasant it is (in fact Police rate the crime levels as low). Amber Rudd & Michael Gove both senior MP's who served in Mrs Teresa Mays & Mr Boris Johnsons Cabinets' live very close by (one in the next street) & prestigious members club - Queens Tennis Club is closer than the pub, showing how the area is well heeled & middle class. In fact many guest enjoy visiting the pub saying how welcoming & pleasant it is. Everything was too small, the apartment, the bed, the shower, the bed is 6ft3in long so she must have slept across the bed in the wrong way for her feet to go over the end! everything is written in the description, flat size etc. Everything in the U.S. is bigger compared to the UK. As for the area being busy, its a residential area in London a major city with rush hour. Maybe she should have stayed in sleepy little village outside London. London is a densely populated city with people living very close together, and is a bustling place. The studio has plenty of privacy, frosted glass, blinds (see pics). The claim of paper thin walls and domestic violence is a worrying tone, and one that surely would have been mentioned in previous reviews, if true. I can assure you that the walls are solidly built, the apartment is a conversion from an original Victorian House, so some small noise should be expected, we've never had complaints of regular arguments. Alyson did stay in London whilst Notting Hill Carnival was on, near by, it attracts 2.5 million attendees, 40,000 volunteers and 9,000 police, maybe this had some influence on her “experience”. I was disappointed that even though I was in contact with her, not once did she raise ANY issues with me. Indeed our last messages between us, she clearly says “no complaints” so I don't know why she complains in the review. When compared to the numerous good and positive reviews about the apartment and area I feel that her review does not give a fair and accurate description.
