Hosting wonderful guests like you, your family, and friends is exactly why I love sharing my home away from home with others. I also sincerely appreciate your understanding and honest feedback regarding the sargassum during your stay. Unfortunately, sargassum has become a significant environmental issue affecting many parts of the Caribbean, especially during certain times of the year. The excessive seaweed blooms are influenced by warmer ocean temperatures, changing currents, and nutrient runoff entering the Atlantic Ocean, which then carries large amounts of sargassum throughout the Caribbean Sea and surrounding coastlines. Some weeks are completely clear and beautiful, while other weeks — like during your visit — we unfortunately get hit heavily with it. It really can be very unpredictable and hit or miss this time of year. I’m also very grateful for your recommendations regarding the kitchen. I’m happy to report that after our conversation, I already met with my contractor and we will absolutely be updating the kitchen to include both a range cooktop with oven and a dishwasher. I’ve been renting the home for many years, and lately I’ve noticed exactly what you mentioned — more guests are enjoying the home itself, cooking meals together, grilling, and spending quality time in the house rather than dining out every evening. Because of that, I completely agree these upgrades are important, and arrangements have already been made. Hopefully everything will be completed within the next month.
