About Jean-Marie

My wife and I grew up in Paris. I was born in this District. We have travelled for several years with my job, El Cairo (Egypt), (3 years), then, 3 years, Washington D.C and a few others countries and we are come back to France. Now, my wife lives with my two sons in Spain and me, i work in Paris, every night, i m policeman, and the journey, i can be with my guests. As my wife is spanish, it was an opportunity for the sons to discover a different lifestyle.I built this apartment as i would like to be but with the character of this District, wood-original floor-it was important to restore it in this historical District, Le Marais-

Jean-Marie purchased this studio in 2006

Why Jean-Marie chose Paris

I grew up in this area, i know it perfectly, it changed so quickly, before it was like a village, it s the downtown with these old buildings and the parisians appreciate it so much and each week end, they come to walk on these small streets to feel the past, the authenticity of Paris;

What makes this studio unique

i think my old guests who didn t this area, said to me it was a great place, i think they felt like in their home after their visit, to be quiet,

all their comments prove it, i don t make mistake, it was the truth.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Very good location, small but cozy and quiet, well-equipped apartment and would return to it without hesitation. Owner very nice and available, our stay was perfect.

Reasonable Value for the Money

  • 3 of 5

The owner and manager were both very helpful, and the apartment is truly quiet even though it is in the middle of the Marais. I did not mind its being a very small studio. But it is on the 5th floor (French 4th) of an old building without an elevator, and this is hard on older people. The bathroom is about 1 x 2 metres, and the facilities need updating. If none of this is a problem for you, this is good value.

Lovely appartment in nice neighbourhood

  • 5 of 5

We spent a few days in this cosy studio with kitchen en bathroom. It is in the center of the Marais, a vibrant neighbourhood - with a lot of typical French restaurants and cafés. Because the studio is at the courtside of the typical Parisian hotel it is a very quiet place. I stayed with my 16 year old daughter, we were fine and felt very safe when we came 'home' after dinner.

The family who owns this appartment is very kind and helpful.

I stayed for 3 days in this beautiful studio from the 19th to the 22nd of January. Located in the heart of le Marais, I couldn't have chosen a better location, 2 minutes away from Rue de rosiers.

Landlord was a great man, you could not hope for a more helpful person. Would definitely stay again.

The apartment was extremely clean and has everything you would need for a short stay in Paris even cable TV.

I can't recommend enough and thank you very much Monsieur Jean Marie.

Great Location

  • 3 of 5

This apartment is actually nicer-looking in real life, it's lovely! It was very clean and well-stocked. We loved the staircase up five flights of stairs and the quietness and peacefulness of the courtyard (after the hustle and bustle of Paris outside). The neighborhood is excellent and close to many major attractions and the metro. I would definitely give it a five-star rating except for some bathroom plumbing issues we had from the very start of our stay that were never fixed properly. I would recommend this apartment, but make sure the plumbing issues are fixed before your stay.

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this place! It's in a building that's centuries old, at the top floor. It has so much charm, and is very well appointed. Essentially has the feel of a hotel room: beds, kitchenette, ensuite bathroom. Perfect area of Paris, with easy access to the Metro and walking distance to Rivoli, Notre Dame and the Seine. Quiet too! Only minor drawback was the 98 steps up to get there. Also, don't forget to hit the hall light button frequently on your way down in the evening, Otherwise the lights will shut off on you. DEFINITELY recommend!

Great host, quaint apartment, perfect location, good value

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to the Le Marais district in Paris and our first time renting an apartment. Since I had never used this type of service before, I was initially a bit hesitant with it all. However, Mr. B and his wife were so incredibly kind and accommodating in our contact before arrival that my worries quickly subsided. We were able to drop of our luggage early so that we could explore the city without dragging around our baggages. Mr. B met us and showed us the studio and said we shouldn't hesitate to contact them if we had any issues (luckily we didn't have any!)

Despite the cold December weather and the old age of the building, the apartment was comfortable. It is small, but has everything you would need for a vacation. The kitchen is well stocked with the essentials and we took advantage of that, especially for breakfast.

This didn't bother us at all (it was a good workout!), but there are 95 winding steps up the apartment as you can see in the picture and no lift. We actually liked being on the top floor, though-it was quiet with a nice views of other rooftops and a bell tower. Carrying luggage up and down was a bit strenuous but doable for us with a bit of patience. I mention this because I know this may be a physical limitation for others.

Overall, we would stay here again and hope to in the future. We are budget-concious travelers, and so do not look for luxury and brand new renovations. We look for something that's clean, safe, in a good location, a good value, and run by nice trust-worthy people. This property checked off all those items for us.

Thank you, Mr. B and Sylvie for everything!
