About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 4 Baths (Sleeps 8-10).

Get away to our custom home overlooking the pristine beauty of Glacier National Park and the Great Plains. Step right into Nature's playground. Take summer hikes along the Continental Divide in America's premier national park or fish for trout in our rivers, streams, and lakes. In winter, your snowshoes, cross-country or telemark skis can take you to sublime trails or a mother lode of steep-and-deep drops all within minutes from the house.

Sheltered in a sloping grove of aspens, our home is finished with hardwood floors and alder trim and has windows in every room that bring nature to you and truly make this house a part of its environment. Whether you come to hike or fish, snowshoe or ski, the indulgence of an evening relaxing in luxury is only minutes away.

The open floor plan of the main level contains living room, dining room, and kitchen and is surrounded by windows. A well-stocked gourmet kitchen has everything you need to whip up a nice meal after a hard day roughing it. There is plenty of seating around the island for cooking and conversation. There is also a full-size dining table and cozy seating . The wood burning stove gives just the right warmth for an intimate evening in the mountains.

After a day on the trails, the mud room provides a place to remove soiled gear, with a full size washer and dryer, as well as a utility sink for cleaning the mountains out of your clothing and equipment. It adjoins the guest bath and also has a heated floor.

Additional space, by way of the recently finished walk-out basement, is now open for the use of our guests. It features a large media and game room and a fourth standard bathroom with a large walk-in shower.

For those with large parties, we can now offer more sleeping space in the new guest room. It contains plenty of room, and houses a queen size bed, a large comfortable chair, as well as a crib and changing table for guests with little explorers.

About Kurt Wahl

Kurt Wahl and Sandra Bailey were drawn to East Glacier and the east slope of Glacier National Park, like many others, by the rugged natural beauty of its landscapes. Originally from Washington and Colorado, we relocated from the East and took jobs in education and health care in Browning.

Kurt Wahl purchased this house in 2004

Why Kurt Wahl chose Glacier Country

With the goal of spending the rest of our days here, we purchased the property in 2004 and began building. We designed it specifically to create a mingling of indoor and outdoor spaces and by 2006 were able to move in. Work soon took us away, but not so far that we couldn't return often. Offering it to vacationers beginning in 2008 has allowed us to hold on to the house and and our love of this place.

What makes this house unique

Whether we are returning from a long, leg-burning hike or simps gazing out at the aspens turning gold beneath the peaks thrust up along the front, we are always at peace here in Glacier.

East the best

  • 5 of 5

Our family planned the trip in 2016 but unfortunately due some family emergency we couldn't able to make it. Kurt was kind enough to reach out to us and considered the advance amount for 2017 trip. We visited the month of August and weather was perfect. Our family loved this home and kids has the blast in this beautiful home. Kitchen is well equipped and the whole house is clean and well equipped. We stayed for 6 nights exploring the glacier. We simply has a blast and we loved it so much coming back to home each day to relax, cook and enjoy the meal with beautiful views from home and play some card games and foozball. It's an hour drive to all major and popular kids friendly hikes. Twin medicine lake is super close to this home. You would simply love the home, Kurt's response and his personal touch in sending in the information or detailed notes to get ready for the stay. Thanks Kurt for sharing your home.

Beautiful home and great location

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 8 seniors stayed in this lovely home in East Glacier for 3 nights. The rooms sizes were great and we really appreciated the updated bathrooms and kitchen. The bathrooms were well stocked with towels and the sheets and mattresses were all good quality. We were in the area to tour Glacier National Park and the location of the house could not be any more convenient. The Glacier Park Lodge is only a few minutes drive from this location and we even traveled as far as Many Glacier as a day trip. We would not hesitate to book Kurt's home for a future trip to the area. We even enjoyed our welcome committee of cows! Thanks Kurt for sharing your beautiful home.

Amazing stay!

  • 5 of 5

I can not say enough good things about our stay at this fabulous home in East Glacier! Everything was perfect! Spacious bedrooms, gorgeous bathroom, amazing kitchen/living area and lovely deck! Upscale amenities and everything you need for a great vacation! Our two families loved coming home after hiking/playing in Glacier NP and relaxing in such a peaceful place. And East Glacier was a great town as a home base - loved Serrano's for dinner, and adored Luna's Huckleberry Pie! Highly recommend and would love to stay here next time we're in the area!

Exceptional Home and Wonderful Owner

  • 5 of 5

Our group stayed in this beautiful and spacious home in July of 2016. This exceptional home is big and easily accommodated our party of ten. The owner, Kurt went well beyond anything we could of hoped for, picked up some supplies for our group, because some stores were closed for the Indian Pow Wow in Browning, and met us at the airport. He had no reason to go out of his way to help us. But he most certainly did and we are thankful for his kind gesture. The house is close to the Two Medicine entrance to the park and an easy drive to all of the other east side entrances. The view from the house and the area it is located are just wonderful and quiet. We would stay here again and hope to again sometime soon. I can't say enough about the house and owner, everything about our stay was wonderful and much thanks to Kurt for helping us enjoy our limited time at Glacier. This home is easily the best place to stay in the area.

Return Visit

  • 5 of 5

Returned to Glacier National Park and stayed for a second year in this excellent house. This year the basement was finished and included another bathroom and pull out sleeper couch. Can't say enough good things about this home with the location so close to the park, in a quiet area with beautiful views, well maintained and an owner who cares about making your stay enjoyable.

The house and location just outside Glacier Nat'l Park are ideal. Perfectly located for scenic drives of the area and hiking in the park. Kurt Wahl was very friendly and helpful in every way. Views of the surrounding country from the house are beautiful. Large house with comfortable bedrooms and well equipped kitchen. Very clean and well maintained house. Very quiet residential area. Highly recommended.
