Beachfront,Step from Your Porch Onto the Sand

Bedrooms 2
Property type condo
Minimum Stay 1 - 4 nights

About the property

Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

Welcome to Blue S'Kai, our white sand beach getaway condo is new to the rental market in beautiful, upscale Cayman Kai. Built in 2005, the condominium is part of Kaibo Yacht Club, Phase II. The condo is painted and decorated in a tropical style, except for the master bedroom, which has a tranquil spa-feel to it. The king sized bed in the master bedroom gives you a view of the beach, the palm trees and the water. The second bedroom has two twin beds and there is a full size queen sofa/sleeper that allows a total of six guests. We have also added a playpen that doubles as a crib. Both bathrooms are equipped with full bath tub and showers. One full bathroom is attached to master bedroom. We have a water cooler with a fresh five-gallon jug of water on your arrival. This means you're not buying drinking water. The kitchen is well stocked with granite counter tops, blender, ice maker, coffee maker and toaster. We also provide a cell phone with a credit of US $12.50 to use as you need to, local or long distance, the cellphone can also be 'topped off' everywhere around the island.

We have really made this an enjoyable condo for all ages, there is a TV/DVD player with cable in each bedroom and in the living room. There are four bikes to use free of charge, 2 adult, 2 kids bikes. We have many board games, cards, poker chips, DVD's, books, a CD stereo, an ipod ready boom box, beach toys, snorkel gear, kids swim goggles and fins and even an X BOX with games for all ages. A pump is provided to inflate rafts and other water toys you may wish to bring along.

Blue S'Kai fits whatever you are looking for in a Caribbean vacation. Perfect for a couples getaway or for a family vacation. During the day your toughest decision may be whether to sun by the pool or to take a deck chair under your own palm tree (watch for falling coconuts). We frequently are the only people on the beach or pool (private).

This is a first floor condo, you step off your patio onto a pristine beach, the infinity edge pool, with a Jacuzzi, is just 20 steps away. First floor is convenient because you (and your kids) can go straight into the condo for a bathroom run, to get towels or to refill your rum drink. Second story units require you to walk to the parking area for access (less convenient). Also there is no elevator.

Kaibo Bar and Grill is next door, they have a casual daytime menu, and an impressive dining menu. They also have a beach volleyball court and live music on select weekends. Dining can be on the beach if you choose, literally, some tables are on the beach, go barefoot. The full bar offers a beach bar atmosphere during the day and a very romantic setting at night.

Just past the Kaibo Grill next door or at Rum Point, you can rent jet skis and kayaks or book a snorkeling or SCUBA trip. Red Sail Sports even has a catamaran with a trampoline on the front. A MUST see in Cayman is Sting Ray City (10 minutes by boat)where you can swim with and feed the gentle Southern stingray. You can snorkel, SCUBA or go on the glass bottom boat for those who don't want to get wet. This is an amazing trip, truly a highlight. Our favorite is going to Sting Ray City and snorkeling off your jet ski with Peter at Fat Fish Charters.

Rum Point is about 5 minutes by bike about 2 minutes by car, another beautiful beach with a swimming area, gift shop, casual restaurant and bar, they close at 5 pm, generally busy. Snorkeling right off the beach is spectacular and close in in several locations around Cayman including the North End. You WILL see lots of fish and starfish snorkeling in the Cayman Kai area.

On our family vacations we have enjoyed horseback riding on the beach and ocean swimming with the horses(also a unique experience, only one company on Cayman swims with the horses). The Turtle Farm has a breeding pond and touch tanks, (where you can pick up a turtle for a picture). In Georgetown, a 40 min drive, you can enjoy duty free shopping, restaurants, and a 100 foot submarine dive. For the skaters and surfers in your family there is also a great skate park (for skateboarders) along with a wave machine. For the person who likes a more crowded environment you can drive to seven mile beach which also offers shopping, restaurants and public beaches. Our favorite time has been on the beach at the condo with the kids or in the evening by ourselves.

Grocery shopping is available on your way to Kaibo from the airport or in advance of your arrival, for an extra $25 plus grocery costs (grocery stores are closed on Sundays).

Relax, escape, enjoy, this is a great vacation that you will want to do every year. Don't forget to bring your camera, you'll want to remember this one.

Great Cayman escape......

  • 5 of 5

As usual Cayman is great and this unit at Kaibo was well appointed, nicely decorated and comfortable!!!

We actually return next week to continue the experience with our grown children and are excited to share the place and time again at Kaibo with them.

Beautiful and Peaceful Oasis

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful location in a quiet cove. Step outside of the condo onto sand less than 60 steps from the water. Lovely pool also. The condo is in a quiet area, which we loved. We rented a car and found it easy enough to get around the island to more populated parts, but really enjoyed having a peaceful spot to start and end the day in.

The condo was very clean when we arrived and well appointed. We brought some food and bought some more locally and made most breakfasts and dinners at the condo. There is a coffee shop, beach grill, and nicer dinner restaurant next door at Kaibo Yacht Club though (we did not go, but they are steps away). And we loved Rum Point Beach "club," about a mile down the road. It has nice snorkeling close to shore, plenty of chairs, and a beach grill with good food and fun drinks. RP also has a nice dinner restaurant apparently, but we did not go there either. Both Kaibo Yacht Club and RP have places to book various kinds of tours for kayaking, bike riding, or snorkeling, etc., so you could get away with not having to travel far at all if you wanted.

Tammey, the condo owner was fantastic! She sent much helpful information in advance about things to do, groceries, rental cars, and more. She really went above and beyond and our experience was all the better for it. You might need to find updated links and the most current information on the tour co's websites since options can vary depending on when you travel, but we booked some activities in advance and Tammey's info was quite useful. (Stingray City is a must do (we used Red Sail Sports--there's a location in Rum Point, but the tour we wanted during our stay was only offered from the 7 Mile Beach area -- still, so great); Dolphin Discovery was also an incredible experience.)

It was windy during our stay, so we didn't get to snorkel as much as we had hoped, but there is plenty of snorkeling gear at the condo. There are a couple of shore accessible snorkeling spots close to the condo and many others all over the island if you have a car (which you'll likely need to get to the condo anyway). Starfish Point is also an easy walk from the condo.

The condo has bikes but several need some TLC. We didn't use the kids', but found two adult bikes with tires that would hold air. One was a cruiser in good shape; the other more of a beater -- both got us to Rum Point and back no problem!

We had a wonderful time and would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Incredible location with everything you need!

  • 5 of 5

Wow! This property is wonderful and has everything you need! However with the increasible location you don’t need much of anything but your bathing suit! We came with two kids (4 and 6) and it was so nice to have the beach in our backyard. The two beds in the 2nd bedroom was also great and made bedtime a breeze! We enjoyed the puzzles and coloring books/crayons. Lots of little things around the house that made it so kid friendly! Kids loved the pool floats (pool was just steps away and we were able to run back and forth to refill our drinks, bathroom breaks or just a nap). We walked to Starfish point (amazing to not have to get in the car). Kaibo Yacht club Tuesday night BBQ actually had delicious food and fun music. (You could hear the music from the condo poarch but if you shut the doors or went inside you could not hear it at all if you choose to go to sleep.) Rum point was a very short drive and had a beautiful calm beach. There was some kids story telling right at the local public beach next door. So lots of activities nearby! We also did the stingray tour which the best part was it left from the dock right outside the condo!! (WhiteSand Tour). I didn’t think we’d use the cell phone provided but we did to book the tour! Overall i can’t say enough great things about the condo and it made for an incredible vacation for our family!! I highly recommend (also I’m a neat freak and this place was wonderful!!) Great local food to if you don’t want to cook (Kurt’s Corner was delicious and well priced if you want some local fare). But don’t hunk twice about booking this will not regret it!! We are sad to leave but look forward to returning!

Relaxing Stay

  • 4 of 5

We spent two weeks at Kaibo and this is our 3rd year of winter vacationing here. The unit was clean and decorated with a beach theme. The unit had ample swimming gear for both adults and children. The owners were very helpful in providing directions, grocery shopping places and rental cars places. They had mentioned a water taxi that ran daily and we took it one day-- it goes from Kaibo to Camana Bay, which is a commercial area near 7 mile beach. Lots of places to eat and browse various shops.

We did have some difficulty with the TV, but there was a resident caretaker that took care of the issue and walked us through the setup.

We enjoy this part of Cayman very much and hope to return next year. For anyone considering a stay, renting a car is essential,(for most of the shopping is 45 minutes away).

Perfect for a quiet, restful getaway - so glad we found it!

  • 5 of 5

This property is exactly as advertised: a charmingly furnished, well-equipped condo right on the beach, in a quiet, peaceful setting. It has practically everything you could want, including books, games, a cellphone, a 5-gallon jug of water, ceiling fans in every room AND the porch, and a TV with plenty of channels. Tammey sent us multiple e-mails with all kinds of information on what to see and do. It was incredibly quiet during our stay--at most we heard a few voices at the pool and just a bit of music from the Tuesday night barbecue next door. That barbecue is at Kaibo, a really good beach restaurant serving lunch, dinner, and a few light breakfast items that's literally right next door--couldn't be more convenient or fun!

We thought the highlight of the unit is the screened porch right on the beach. We spent hours out there enjoying the lovely view, especially at sunset. We also liked being able to walk to Starfish Point (tip: we saw more starfish along the beach near our condo than at Starfish Point--just keep walking past Kaibo and you'll see them). Rum Point is a 3-minute drive away, or you could easily bike there.

While we had a wonderful time and are already planning our next visit, this condo isn't for everyone. You're a 45-60 minute drive from the shopping, nightlife, and tourist attractions of George Town, Seven Mile Beach, and West End. If you're from the U.S. or Canada, driving a car with controls on the right side down the left side of the road requires extra vigilance. And if your idea of a vacation is not cooking, there are just four restaurants and one convenience store within a 15-minute drive. Tammey suggests stopping at a supermarket on your drive from the airport (or, for a fee, having Barbara do the shopping for you) and packing what food you can in your luggage (everything is pricier in the Caymans). We strongly agree.

While this is beachfront property, it's not oceanfront. The unit is on a cove within Little Sound, which is off North Sound. So, while the water is clear, it's as still as a lagoon, there's a lot of seaweed, and the sand is sometimes coarse. Lovely to look at, but not the best for wading or swimming. This didn't bother us at all--there's a pool and whirlpool just steps away, and Starfish Point and Rum Point both have some seaweed-free spots.

We're so glad we found this place, and we can't wait to go back!

Great relaxing vacation

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here the first week in January. The unit was very clean and convenient. You were on the beach right outside your door. There is a nice little bar right next store with a very good restaurant upstairs. I would recommend renting a car. It is far from the grocery stores ( which are very nice and have everything) stock up on the way from the airport. You are on the bay not the ocean. It reminded me of being at at a lake house only in the Carribean. We rented paddle boards and enjoyed the tranquility. There is a marina right next store with excursions everyday. I think this is great and safe place for a family with young children who want to explore nature. There is a little dock you where you can fish. There are plenty of starfish and fish to see as well. Very quiet and reasonable. We did visit the seven mile beach area and were happy to be staying on the quiet side of the island. If you are looking for a lot of action and nightlife this would not be the place to stay. Everyone we encountered was so nice and friendly. Tammey was so helpful providing all of the information you need. The unit was stocked with everything you need. Plenty of beach towels etc.. We would certainly return. Great value!
