  • The Perfect Vacation Home

"We've traveled to many locations and rented many homes. This was easily our favorite. The house is well appointed with everything you need from towels & beach chairs to pots, pans, and pool toys. The beds are comfortable, the appliances are new, and our party of 7 was very comfortable in the house. The location is what really sets this property apart. You're a 2 minute walk to a beautiful, almost private, beach with fabulous snorkeling. We went on a snorkeling charter and it wasn't as good as the snorkeling off the beach. (The snorkeling gear at the house is top notch as well!) The pool is protected from the wind and in the shade in the afternoon and a perfect afternoon after a morning at the beach. Within a short walk is a great diner for breakfast and The Heritage Kitchen (a must try for lunch!) Kathy was a gracious & wonderful host. We had a hell travel day getting to Cayman with a 4 hour flight delay and Kathy had the fridge full, the beer on ice, and even ran out to pick us up dinner so we could unwind and start our vacation. She had great suggestions about places to go and things to see and generally just made our vacation that much better. I think the best endorsement I can give is that we'll definitely be back next year. Thanks for an awesome vacation and see you next year!"

"We have just returned from this beautiful property with nothing but regrets that our stay couldn't have been longer. We had the most amazing time and the amenities at this quiet beautiful home were amazing. We had many firsts from riding the bikes to Star Fish Point to experience our early morning private (natural) viewing of star fish and sting rays to kayaking out into the bay; which were both generously offered free by the owner. Kaibo and Rum Point are "a must see" especially during sunset and within walking/biking distance. The north side of the island is very quiet and not at all crowded. We use VRBO often and this home owner couldn't have been easier/nicer to deal with. We are already planing a return to this once in a lifetime paradise."

  • Perfection in paradise!!

"Our stay at Cayman Sands was everything I could dream of in a vacation and more! They have thought of (almost, see below) everything right down to the tiniest detail! The house is gorgeous! I had my doubts about the screened-in atrium but when the sun starts to set, the bugs come out (bring bug spray) we were so happy to be able to still enjoy the sunset and sound of the waves while not getting eaten alive! We kept looking for the hammock(s) outside the house, we finally found them in the storage closet but they were super-easy to set-up in the gazebo and let me tell you, several naps were taken there! Throughout planning this trip all the way through to our stay, the management company (Grand Cayman Rentals), the owner, and the local property representative have been so incredibly helpful! On our first day there was a lot of seaweed and trash on the direct beach front (not the private part of the beach directly behind the house which we loved and played a lot of bocce ball on!) I sent an email to Jim at Grand Cayman Villas and copied the local rep and owner just to be on the safe side and they sent someone out to rake it, now THAT is service! I loved that someone went to the effort of using a label-maker to mark what each light switch does, there are a lot of them and, while it's a small detail, it just shows the thought they've put in to aleaving every ounce of stress. My only recommendations (not to be confused with complaints) would be: - put some caution tape on the front-entry stairs because the first step leading to the drive is very hard to see (the ceramic tile is white, the gravel is white, and it's right as you walk out) sadly I fell and sprained my ankle on our 2nd day, it slowed me down quite a bit but I didn't let it stop me entirely! See comments about insurance. - the curtain rods and sconces should be anchored to the wall. As you gradually move the drapes open and close over time, the rods slide back and forth and unfortunately you don't realize it until one slips and hits you smack-dab on the bridge of the nose. Local recommendation: - The White House was one of the best meals of my life! This is where we are on my 40th birthday (the reason for our trip) and the service, the food, the staff, the atmosphere; everything about it was like something out of a dream!"
