About Francine BERGER DUQUENE

We are retired managers. We live in the South of France, close to Nice.

We like to travel around the world, opera, classical music, theater, archeology.

If our visitors come in the South of France, we will gladly meet them

Francine BERGER DUQUENE purchased this apartment in 2006

Why Francine BERGER DUQUENE chose Paris Arr. 6 (Latin Quarter, St. Germain)

This is where we lived when we were students and hère se met. St Germain des Prés is the most lively place and the most 'fun' in Paris.

We bought this apartment, not to rent it but to live in when we come to Paris (3 or 4 months per year). It is therefore arranged for us, with all due care.

What makes this apartment unique

5 minutes to go to the theater or one of the 13 cinemas closed to, between 20 and 30 restaurants in less than 150 m and so, even late at night, you can find restaurants open.

15 bus lines no more than 100m from the apartment to go everywhere in Paris (I give you the plans in the 'welcome book' to find how to go where you want)

2 metro lines at 50m, à 3rd one (direct to Roissy AirPort) at 150m

Shopping, shopping, shopping ... and the place is so alive, at any time of day, even at night ... but the apartment is so quiet!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Nous avons passé une très agréable semaine dans votre appartement et c'est sans hésitation que nous y retournerions et que nous vous référerons à nos amis et à nos proches

Spectacular -Location and Comfort!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I are just back from a week's stay at this marvelous apartment. The location is ideal - an easy walk from the Luxembourg RER station which was a quick and easy trip from CDG. The Odeon Metro stop was also extremely convenient. Although the neighborhood is lively, the apartment itself was very quiet. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinners out (Le Comptoir *****) Luzia was there to meet us and was not only welcoming but also helpful in showing us how to operate the TV and get ourselves connected to the Internet. The apartment is very big for Parisian standards and we thoroughly enjoyed having a dining room to enjoy the many French culinary treats that we would pick up during our travels. The boulangerie-patisserie of Gerard Mulot on rue de Seine was excellent! The separate living room provides plenty of space. The washer-dryer is a great addition. The apartment is nicely laid out so that if someone wants to sleep in, the other person would be able to make coffee and have a place to sit without disturbing the other. And there are fluffy white robes! The bathroom was big and the double sinks were appreciated. I am so happy to have found this spacious oasis of calm in my favorite Parisian neighborhood. We are already planning our next trip and look forward to staying here again. The owners, Alain and Francine were great to deal with and promptly responded to any of our emails. Highly recommended!!

Near perfection

  • 5 of 5

Nothing is perfect, but this apartment is very close. It is in great shape, very spacious and exceptionally clean. The bedroom is quite large with shower attached. It has a separate dining room and a very roomy living area with a comfortable pull out sofa/bed. Off of the living room is a small lavatory. TV, stereo and excellent wifi service are all included. A small kitchen has all of the needed amenities.

The location could not be any better. The apartment is very quiet, set back off a side street, but very close to Blvd. St. Germain, the Odeon Metro station, The Odeon Theater, movie theaters and everything the Left Bank has to offer. It is very walkable to many Parisian highlights. Getting anywhere in Paris is quite easy from here.

The owner was extremely responsive to any questions we had. My family & I could not have been more pleased and will definitely stay there again when we next have the opportunity to visit Paris. I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone planning a trip to this wonderful city.

A thoroughly enjoyable week

  • 5 of 5

This is a charming apartment in a great location in the 6th arr. It's probably the largest one bedroom apartment I have ever seen in central Paris.

I found the apartment comfortable and "homey." I especially enjoyed sampling Francine's CD collection since her taste is somewhat different from mine.

While the apartment itself is really quite nice, I think a bigger selling point may be the location -- at least for some renters. It's a short walk to St. Sulpice, Notre Dame, Luxembourg Gardens; other favorite sites are a short subway or bus ride away. However, it's worth noting that even though it's close to everything, the neighborhood and apartment were amazingly quiet.

Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable week.

Enjoying the Paris lifestyle in the 6th Arrondisement

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I enjoyed two weeks in this lovely and well-outfitted Paris flat. Loved the window boxes with geraniums. Confirming logistics and all financial arrangements with the owners was easy and they were extremely nice to deal with. This was my first VRBO rental so I was a bit unsure. The location was excellent for walking to so many of the sites in the 5th and 6th. It was a safe and quiet location with the housekeeper living on the ground floor of the building and able to help with appliances, supplies etc. Kitchen and bath were updated, beds comfortable and the immediate neighborhood near a good bakery and other shops and cafes. Owner -provided informational notebooks were helpful. We loved the Luxembourg Gardens and learned to use the Metro to go to and from CDG Airport, Versailles, le Maree and other sites as well. The Catacombs were amazing and our tour guide who we hired online made the experience especially memorable. Across the way was a glorious looking Sans Gluten Bakery which was closed (on no) on the day we returned for treats. I would recommend this property for a couple or small group of good friends. Very comfortable and terrific location. Enjoyed the Nespresso machine each morning.

Charming, quiet, well-located apartment

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in this lovely apartment in Paris for four weeks in the spring of 2015.

We particularly loved the location of the apartment, on a well-known but short and relatively quiet street, rue de l'Odéon, running between the theatre of l'Odéon and the Metro stop of the same name on the bustling Boulevard St. Germain-des-Prés. Just beyond the theatre is the beautiful Jardin du Luxembourg, the most popular park in Paris, large and varied in its offerings. All around the area are an abundance of excellent restaurants.

The building is of some antiquity while the apartment was completely renovated in recent years. So the bathroom and kitchen facilities of the apartment are quite up-to-date and yet the exposed beams dating back centuries give it charm and character. The building's elevator is also modern and reliable, while an elegant and comfortable staircase spirals up around it.

The beds are comfortable--not only the queen-size in the bedroom, but also the fold-out sofa in the living room, which our daughter used when she stayed with us for several days. As the apartment gives on an inner courtyard rather than directly on the street, both rooms are quiet for sleeping (or study, or whatever else required quiet!).

We have rented many apartments through VRBO in the past six years, and this is one of the few that we would really like to return to in the future.

Great property with a perfect location

  • 5 of 5

I booked this apartment for my mother who stayed for about a month, and I joined her for one week. We were both thrilled with this charming and spacious apartment that is conveniently located just one or two blocks away from subway stations and bus stops. The Notre Dame cathedral, Luxembourg gardens, and the Sorbonne are all within a short walking distance. The apartment is very spacious - it has a living room, a separate dining room and a bedroom - which made it possible to entertain friends. The apartment is well equipped with a kitchen and a newly renovated bathroom with a full bath tub. My mother particularly enjoyed the CD player and the owner's collection of classical music CD's. Given that we were visiting Paris during the heart of the winter, we were also very happy that the apartment was very warm. We cannot wait to go back to Paris and stay in this apartment again!
