Beautiful, clean house

We stay in the Hamlet annually, so not only are we used to rental houses, but specifically houses in this estate. I have to say, this was the cleanest house we have stayed in. The house was nice and very comfortable, and the owner was very accessible. Had fun playing a couple rounds of pool, kids enjoyed taking a stroll on the treadmill and playing with kid sized pool table, and we all enjoyed swimming in the bright sunny pool. Would suggest people definitely consider this house for their holiday/vacation.

Great property, good location and lovely owner.

My family all stayed here, there was a group of 11 of us and the house was plenty big enough to accommodate us comfortably. The host was astounding, we had an issue with the pool heat at the beginning of our stay and she was very quick to help us fix it. We really enjoyed our stay at this house and hope to stay again. It was a wonderful experience, Emma made us feel right at home and anytime we needed to contact her she always answered. Thanks again for the lovely experience and hospitality!

Review of West Haven Property ID 173472

The property was located only a couple of exits away from the Walt Disney parks. Shopping was close which was needed because the rental was in short supply of coffee filters, paper towels and liquid soap for the dishwasher. Before our departure we left some of the coffee filters and liquid soap for the next guests.

The owner had indicated the property was up sale and there were minor inconveniences for example the bottom bathroom exhaust fan did not work and a couple of lights did not work. Also, the existing picture is incorrect due to the recent hurricane IRMA the roof sustained some damage and was covered with blue tarp. This was one of the reasons the owner was selling the house. The thermostat was originally was set at 74 degrees and the first night was very uncomfortable for all of us. We could not adjust the thermostat because it was locked so we contacted the owner and she came and adjusted the thermostat to a cooler temperature while we were at one of the Disney parks.

The pool heater only worked one day during our entire stay and that was on the afternoon of day prior to us leaving in the morning. So we were not able to swim as we had planned especially a disappointment for our grandchildren. The owner of the property promised some type of compensation but we have not heard her from yet.

We washed the bath towels, hand towels most of the bedsheets prior to our leaving, and set out the garbage. We are hoping to get some compensation because we were not able to use the swimming pool or the hot tub as planned.

Owner's Response: I'm really surprised by this review. I do not know of any vacation home rental that provides coffee filters, paper towels or liquid soap for their guests. These items are not included in Homeaway listing and are usually bought by the visitors. The house suffered minor roof damages from Hurricane Irma. There is a back-up of roof repairs/replacement in the area. The guest seemed to be understanding at the time and commented that he also had the same problem. His house experienced roof damages and also had a tarp covering his roof. The house was set at 74 the first night since we're in the winter months and the temperature was very low so I did not want them to be freezing at night. He told me of his discomfort so I lowered the temperature, worried that it would be too cold for them. The pool was very hot when they arrived, it was steaming. Unfortunately, the next day the weather was very cold and the unit was struggling to keep the water warm. This is to be expected in the middle of the winter months. However, when I checked it, the pool heater was working at 79 degrees which was tepid. I checked the unit several times and had the pool guy check it out. After they left, the pool engineer said that the heater was working O.K. The water was warm the day before their departure. I did compensate him 50% of the cost of the pool heat (at least a week before he did the review). As guests, they were pretty good, however, they did cause some damages which I did not charge or complained about. There were at least 15 pink/blue stains in the pool patio area caused by children's slimy sticky "paste" toy, similar to chewing gum, which I warned them about. It took a lot of time to clean and scrub them (some are still present) and I had to paint over a few of them or use Clorox. Also, a door stopper was missing. When I asked him about it, he stated that his grandchild was playing with it and lost it. Meanwhile, I cannot keep that door opened (it’s a busy area between the garage and house entry) and I have to go to the stores to find another one and pay for it. I did not charge anything or complain about these issues because I thought they were very nice and understanding.

Dirty House and Rude Owner

We took another annual trip to Florida last week. We've been going for 15 years and have loved it but this year was the worst experience we have ever had. Let me start by saying that you shouldn't take this review lightly or view it as a "one off" bad experience. Everyone should know what to actually expect from this property and the owner's behaviour. The house is huge. We had 5 adults and 3 babies and lots of room to play but unfortunately the pros end there. The house was filthy. When we arrived we went out to the store to buy bleach and other cleaning products to clean the house. The layer of grime left on the surfaces including the floors was disgusting. Every other home we have ever rented has always been well cleaned and maintained because a cleaning company is used. The owner cleans it herself and should really use the cleaning fee to pay someone else to do it properly. The pool was green and got more and more green and filthy everyday. All of our bathing suits were stained and ruined. As for the kitchen, there are limited pans to use. There was a thick layer of grime coating the stove surface and bottom drawer, along with dirt on the dishwasher and drying rack. It was filthy. We are being accused of staining some of the towels so be sure to take pictures of each of them before using so you aren't blamed for anything. They are old and worn out to begin with and I am still not sure how she thinks we stained them when they were only used for showering. The owner also remotely controls the A/C. It was so hot in the house even with all of the ceiling fans running. It was cruel and ridiculous for her to expect that we would be comfortable or that it was a safe temperature for babies. The owner came to the house on our last day and accused me of using the pool heat. When I said we didn't touch it, she continued to yell and accuse us. The pool vacuum suction was also left on (a potential drowning hazard for my niece with long hair) and it gave my mom and husband a bruise on their legs. We told her this and that the pool was green the whole week, she still said she was charging us. She is currently withholding our money to pay for the pool heat, towels, and air conditioning and is refusing to communicate to resolve these issues. All of her accusations are false and I have never experienced an owner like this before. You do not get what you pay for with this rental and owner. DO NOT STAY HERE!

Owner's Response: Issues regarding this family's stay:1) Total disregard to the property, abusing the services provided, and lying. She had paid for the pool heat at the time of booking. Before moving in she asked to remove the cost since they did not need the pool heat. I agreed to refund the money. However, when she moved in, I had asked her to give the pool guy the lock to lock the box since I had forgotten to give it to him and he was returning the same day to clean the pool. The pool guy denied receiving the lock. I became suspicious that the pool heat was being used. When I went to check the pool timer, the "off" clip was removed from the timer indicating that the pool heat was running all day and night. No-one else could have tampered with the settings except for this family who obviously benefited from using the pool heat. After she denied having tampered with these setting, I placed my hand into the water and found it to be very hot.They all surrounded me in a threatening manner (3 woman and 2 men) and accused me of not being the owner and to leave the premises. A woman chased me out and followed me to my car.The pool was clean and I took pictures of it. If it was "green", how come they were comfortably enjoying the pool (have pictures)? Also, my pool guy said by using the pool heat 24/7 , it burned off all the chlorine and may have damaged the pump. 2) The house is always cleaned! I'm in the process of selling it and recently had an open house with a realtor who can confirm that the house is very clean and shows well for prospective buyers. Also, I had a wonderful family living there a few days before that left the house in pristine condition. I also have pictures of the house. So their complaint of the house being "dirty" is absurd. Also, the next tenant commented that it was the cleanest house she has ever stayed in without my asking her! Three medium towels were severely stained by an orange substance and ? bleach. I have pictures. 3)Unfortunately, the thermostat lock box was unlocked. However, it can be monitored remotely. It's normally at 74-75.They were tampering with the thermostat after being told not to tamper with the A/C or pool settings.They lowered it to 70o 24/7, even when the outside temp was 49-54o. Have pictures.4)They asked to leave later than check-out but since another family was coming, it was not possible.They stayed after check-out time. I have rented the house for 12 yrs and never had a negative review! First time experienced this behavior

very clean home

The house was awesome. Its very kid friendly and my kids loved it. There was alot of space to accommodate everyone. And the owner was the sweerest person ever whatever we needed she made sure we had. The home was clean it was in a great location and it was gated. I recommend this home if u want a great vacation.
