About The Owner

A lover of all things beautiful especially homes and furnishings I have owned and operated Random Harvest, a high end home furnishings business in the NYC and Dc area for over 30 years.

The Owner purchased this house in 2001

Why The Owner chose Brightwood

We searched for years to find the right combination of easy to get to and that peaceful feeling of knowing you are truly away from it all. This property had unsurpassed views in literally every direction with total privacy. Alas the house was a mess but with such great bones we could not help to want to bring it beyond what it had become.

Fantastic week at an amazing property

  • 5 of 5

Wow. Our large family gathered for a milestone anniversary, and this property made the perfect place for four generations to gather, catch up, celebrate, and RELAX. Totally luxurious yet exceedingly comfortable. The glorious pool frankly made it feel like a resort. The kitchen is well-appointed and has wonderful flow for preparing and serving large meals to a group (and our group enjoys preparing meals together, the kitchen was awesome!). The house offered more than enough space for our 28 family members to gather and have large group conversations or just sit and relax and take it all in. 13 people slept at the house comfortably (the rest of the family stayed nearby) and the house was able to accommodate comings and goings of all the folks very well (if the owners ever added a small toilet & sink/powder room off the laundry room it wouldn't hurt, but otherwise the 3 full bathrooms were able to accommodate our large group fine). The owners have thought of everything--plenty of plush pool towels for guests, comfortable pool furniture, excellent taste in furnishings throughout the entire home. Just marvelous. Love the screen porch with fans--could have spent all day out there, but the pool beckoned! This property offers everything for groups: luxury, peaceful surroundings, comfort, space for collective gathering, balanced with areas that people can break out and have some quieter time alone or in smaller groups. Immaculate when we arrived, and getting the place ready as we departed was very easy (not an arduous situation, compared to some vacation rentals--just strip the beds and load the dishwasher, start a load of towels, and you're done). Beth was very easy to communicate with when I had a question about something small. We went to Charlottesville for a day and also to Shenandoah National Park, but really everyone just wanted to stay at the house because it was so incredible!

We enjoyed it all--the ares of property to walk around, farm animals, fresh eggs, gorgeous sunsets from the front porch. We were talking about coming back before our week was even half up. Can't wait to return, thanks Beth!

Beautiful and relaxing house

  • 5 of 5

Seven of us went for the weekend for our second stay at the house! The property feels secluded and private, but is close to a variety of activities. At one point one person in our group went to the movies, another went to the local aquatic center, three went on a hike, and two stayed to relax at the house. Everyone could to do their own thing and there's plenty of room for everyone to spread out, while still coming together over a meal at the large dining room table at the end of the day. The house is beautiful, the donkeys adorable, the fresh eggs delicious, the kitchen spacious, and the hot tub luxurious!

We will definitely be going back.

Perfect property for family weekend!

  • 5 of 5

This house was the perfect setting for a wonderful family weekend! Grandparents, parents, and kids ages 14-1 really enjoyed all the fun and relaxation that the setting has to offer. We made great meals, incorporating the farm fresh eggs; relaxed on the porch and in the hot tub; roasted s'mores in the outdoor fire pit; visited the farm animals; and took a trip to Monticello. The house felt cozy but also spacious enough for our whole group. Owners were really helpful. We loved it!

Love this house!

  • 5 of 5

This house was simply wonderful! A group of us stayed here for a girls weekend and before the weekend was over we were already discussing when we could come back for another visit! The photos don't do the house justice, it was beautiful, cozy, and well-decorated. It was a real treat to collect the chicken eggs in the mornings and have them for breakfast. The kitchen was well-stocked and we were able to cook lots of large meals and had all of the various pots, pans, and serving dishes needed. I can't say enough good things about this property.

Bachelorette Weekend!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this lovely farmhouse for my daughter's bachelorette weekend. It was perfect! We enjoyed Friday around the pool as bridesmaids trickled in. The hot tub was great for the ladies while I cooked steaks on the large grill and others visited the animals on the farm. The décor is perfect for the setting this lovely home sit on. Everything you need is provided! I was worried that 3 baths would be a problem with 13 women getting ready for the winery tour on Saturday but we didn't run out of hot water! I would highly recommend this home and Beth was fabulous to work with!! We will be back!!!! The front porch is hard to leave behind!
