About Jane Hamilton
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; I moved to Breckenridge in 1990 to start 'Jane's Lodges' with my Dad Started annual Family Ski Trips over 35 years ago!. We still do one in Breckenridge every year!
Jane Hamilton purchased this House in 1998
Why Jane Hamilton chose Breckenridge
I used to ride my bike out to this property..... I was always intrigued with this home; A large structure nestled in the pines at the end of a sweeping driveway. If you listen close, you will here the rush or the gurgle of the Blue River which runs just below the home. The privacy of this location is very attractive. Once inside; I was charmed by the decor, layout and design. My Dad always wondered why I just didn't live here.... Pretty awesome.
What makes this House unique
Living in Breckenridge is magical.... if you can spend just a week here; you will definitely experience a little piece of paradise in the Rocky Mountains! We try to create each lodge to exude all of the mountain comforts you would look for while vacationing in our town! The Black Bear Lodge was added to the JanesLodges Portfolio of Homes in 1998. This Property exudes all of the quiet charm you would expect when taking in a Mountain Vacation. Finding nearly 3 private acres of your own so close to the downtown core of Breckenridge is hard to do..... AND walk down to the Blue River from the house???? What more could you ask for? A hidden gem neighborhood.... This is where you will find The Black Bear Lodge. This is our 27th Year operating JanesLodges; and The Black Bear Lodge still takes my breath away.

Black Bear: huge, comfortable, luxurious, convenient
We thoroughly enjoyed out stay at Black Bear Lodge, a spacious, conveniently-located and beautifully-appointed house.
It was made even better by catering from Kelly at Ridge Street Kitchen, who cooked for us on two nights. Kelly's food was as perfect and fantastic as the accommodation.
Support from Jane was terrific, too: we had a problem with the heating and she had it fixed within half an hour of contacting her.
I would recommend this place without hesitation!
Perfect home for all ages and needs!
We were traveling with 11 adults, two one year olds, two four year olds and a theee year old. The house was perfect for sharing time together and provided privacy when needed. It is conveniently located for all the activities one could imagine. The kitchen was great, well equipped and easy to use. We traveled during the "Breckinridge Fires" and Jane was very responsive to our concerns and offered to work with us if we decided not to come. Thankfully all was good. The soup, bread and chips was the perfect welcome. Highly suggest working with Jane and her properties. When the road takes us to Colorado again we will definitely check Jane's properties first.
We had a wonderful experience at the Black Bear Lodge. We were welcomed with a warm crock-pot of apple/sausage soup and a nice note from the owners. The house is spacious with great room set-ups to handle multiple families. Everyone enjoyed the large hot tub on the porch with the beautiful trees around it. The game room was a big hit with the kids.
Sheets smell bad
The towels smell bad
I am so sorry that you had this experience! We have never had that complaint.... and do all of our linens and towels in-house. I have noted your concern and our crews have been notified. Again my apologies...... Shoot, I wish I would have known during your stay; as we would have delivered a new set of linens. -Jane
PS: Sometimes I will spritz a lavender linen spray prior to arrival....... Was that it???? Not everyone likes lavender.... Perhaps I should rethink the spritzer.
Beautiful house for a group of colleagues
The house is beautiful inside and out. The kitchen is large and well setup. The semi-circular great room is unbelievable comfortable.
