This vacation rental provides genuine western hospitality while ensuring that you have all of the comforts of home in our rustic, yet refined, accommodations. Ideally situated at the base of the breathtaking Bridger Mountains, just outside of Bozeman, Montana, you will find a relaxing vacation get-a-way... The Barn.
We are equipped to provide the true Montana experience, helping you find the best places to experience the area's recreational opportunities. We arrange horseback rides, pack trips, hunting and fishing trips. We can even board your horses while you stay.
As a result of my three children’s involvement in 4-H, you may hear the bellar of a hungry steer or the neigh of a saddle horse. My family has enjoyed the serenity of this country life and look forward to sharing it with you.
The four surrounding mountain ranges of the Gallatin Valley provide a paradise for the outdoor enthusiast. The nearby rivers and streams offer blue-ribbon fly fishing, while the mountains allow for world-class skiing. Bridger Bowl Ski Area is less than 30 minutes away, while Big Sky Ski Resort and Moonlight Basin Ski Resort are about an hour away. Hunting, hiking, biking, golfing, rafting, floating and snowmobiling are also popular activities for locals and tourists alike. And the nation's first national park, Yellowstone, is so close that you can make a day trip out of seeing the hydrothermal features and wildlife.
The Barn features an open floor plan with hardwood floors, custom tile, barn wood cabinets and all new appliances. Two private decks with mountain views allow for excellent star gazing beneath the big Montana sky. Completed in 2006, The Barn is fully furnished and has been tastefully decorated with custom touches that create a home away from home.

The pictures do not do justice to this beautiful space. It is gorgeous and decorated with every detail in mind. The owner, Vel, has thought of everything and provides a cozy, well equipped home for her guests. We spent Thanksgiving at The Barn and I left wishing I could move in permanently. The three of us, and our two dogs, were very comfortable. Having access to an outdoor lighted kennel was a great extra for our four legged family members.
We rented this as our getaway during our wedding week, what a perfect spot to unwind and get some peace and quiet!! Great views of Bozeman and the Bridgers. Val was a great host and the details and finishes inside the barn are top of the line. Highly recommend!!
Val's barn apartment is a beautiful space, way better than the pictures indicate. We were blown away at how nice it was when we arrived and the level of detail Val put into the apartment. Everything from the construction to the decoration. Val was super friendly and easy to coordinate with. We stayed for about a week while visiting Bozeman, MT and her home was situated in a great spot to explore a variety of areas. Also, we brought our dog, Belka, and she loved meeting Val's dogs and playing with them. As well as saying hi to the horses and cows. Lastly, Val gifted us some breakfast Elk sausage that was delicious! We'd definitely stay here again when visiting Bozeman.
We had a lovely stay in our own private upstairs barn apartment. The furnishings were very homey and comfortable, and the kitchen had all we needed. Master bedroom was very spacious with a comfy bed, 2 large closets, and a nice balcony. Extra bed for our daughter was a hide-a-bed in an attractive, but windowless room - a tad uncomfortable and quite dark (she never knew what time it was). Perhaps a mattress topper for the bed might make it more comfortable?
Our 2 dogs had a great time - lots of room to run, horses & cows to watch, and friendly resident dogs to meet! Only drawback was our older dog had some trouble getting up the steep stairs - might be good to mention this in the description. All in all an enjoyable stay and Val and her kids were terrific - made us feel very welcome - even left us eggs, butter, and some delicious elk in the freezer. Thanks for sharing your home with us and we hope to see you in the future.
Our recent trip to Montana was beautiful. We live in San Diego, and due to time restraints decided to fly into BZN. From there we rented an SUV, not sure what day trips we may decide to do. A quick stop in town at the great Co-Op, then onto a short 20 min drive to Val's place.
I had contacted Val beforehand to ask some final questions before we left SD- she was great with contact/communication. I was able to text her that we had landed and were on our way to her place.
Amazing views and property that she has. It was easy to find. Val met us outside and showed us around. "The Barn" is so beautiful inside/out. Rustic, yet tastefully appointed, and wonderfully clean. She even shared some farm fresh eggs from her neighbors. You can't get fresher! And what a nice touch!
Outside, she introduced us to her horses and cattle, dogs and kitties- (all of which have names). Our son (almost 4), as well as myself and husband were delighted to meet all. After all introductions were made, Val let us explore and get settled in.
Val is such an amazing person and host. She let us all just enjoy all that her property had to offer- from feeding the horses hay in the morning and evening, to playing with the dogs and taking quiet walks down the drive. Almost every meal we sat at the outdoor table to enjoy the beauty all around (I cooked for all- but SO enjoyed it!) We were always surrounded by nature and fresh, clean air.
I thoroughly enjoyed the modern conveniences of a BBQ, gas stove, Keurig machine, dishwasher, and washer/dryer. ALL were used!
After our 8 day stay, it was REALLY hard to leave. I mean REALLY. Thank goodness for iPhones for pictures, because we took thousands. But beyond that, we all have so many wonderful memories to cherish forever. I'm counting down until I can talk my husband into coming back...a year would be too long!
I can't say enough wonderful things about our trip.
I don't have enough characters remaining to explain how AMAZING "The Barn" and Val are :)
P.S.- Check out Bozeman- such a cute town! Everyone is super friendly :)
My husband and I stayed at Val's barn for a full month in July 2016. He had a work engagement in Bozeman, while I got to explore and play. And, my, what a place to do just that!
Val's barn apartment was the perfect place to call home. Ditch whatever ideas you might have about staying in a barn - this is much nicer than what you're imagining. It was thoughtfully decorated, clean, comfortable, and very well appointed - even for an extended stay such as ours. The kitchen had everything we needed to saute, bake, barbecue, and store leftovers on a regular basis. The large bedroom was comfortable and included two huge closets, providing ample space for my husband and I. The bathroom was updated and fully stocked with plenty of towels and washcloths, as well as basic toiletries to get you started. We used the second bedroom (which includes a fold-out couch as well as a desk) as an office/study, which fit our needs perfectly.
Val and her kids were perfectly welcoming and hospitable and provided us some great tips for things to do and see in the area. We also had our elderly dog with us and he clearly felt at home in the barn apartment too. Val's dogs and cats were all incredibly gentle and sweet to our newcomer.
The property is about 15-20 minutes from Bozeman (depending on where you're going in town). It's far enough away to be peaceful and quiet at the barn, but close enough that my husband's daily commute to Bozeman wasn't a bother.
I cannot say enough about the natural beauty of the ranch and its surroundings. The sunsets off the bedroom balcony were spectacular. We would frequently settle out there to see summer storms roll in or just to watch the rhythms of the ranch unfold. Deer, hawks, eagles, and pheasants made daily appearances. And the stars just shine brighter here.
Thank you, Val, for your hospitality and a wonderful stay! We hope we're lucky enough to return again soon!
