Bienvenido a la casa del oso en Broadway. La renovación está en progreso y las reservas comienzan en abril. ¡Das Bärenhaus es la casa más antigua sin cambios en Jim Thorpe! Mantenemos la elegancia del viejo mundo pero agregamos muchos elementos modernos para mantener actualizado el espacio. Ubicada a solo minutos del museo de la mansión Asa Packer, a una cuadra de la ópera, y a 3 millas de las cataratas Glen Onoko, esta casa está idealmente ubicada y se puede caminar a la totalidad de Jim Thorpe.

Very historic house that is perfect for a large group and just close enough to be walkable to everything in this charming town but a block or two away from from the traffic in the heart of town! Our host was extremely responsive the couple of times that contacted her over our stay, and having 4 parking spaces was hugely helpful.

The house was beautiful, a great location and good for a large group. Once you park your car you can walk everywhere in town. The front porch on the second floor was a lovely place to sit and enjoy your morning coffee or your evening cocktail. My family enjoyed the house very much!

The property was large enough to accommodate a large family vacation and was located in a nice area with walking distance to a quaint downtown within an hour or two to various activities.

The house is huge and easily accommodated our family of runners for the annual running festival. Parking was ample with 4 off street and easy to find and access parking spots. The house was huge and beautifully decorated. Everything in town was easily a few minutes walk. We would rent here again if we return to Jim Thorpe.

Great home in great location.

Owner was so easy to deal with and offered many ideas for things to do in the area. The property was very clean and had all the amenities we needed. Fun place for a family or friends getaway any time of the year. Highly recommend.

Home was just as expected, homey, spacy, enough room for 4 couples. We had a wonderful time in Jim Thorpe and the location was perfect to all stores and restaurants in the area. Highly recommend.

Location, Location, Location! If you are planning on staying overnight in Jim Thorpe, this is the place to stay. Not only do you get the location but you get parking for four cars parking is impossible and Jim Thorpe the house was built in 1855 so it’s old but comfy. Would recommend.

Great long weekend with family

The house was perfect for our stay. It's perfect location on Broadway is walking distance to everything in Jim Thorpe. The house was large enough for my wife and I, 2 teenage kids, inlaws, and parents to hang out together but also to have our own private spaces. Highly recommend especially for larger groups. Dedicated off street parking spots were also key. Just note... No microwave for heating up leftovers :)

Great Location and Lots of Room

Each year, ten sorority sisters from LVC gather for the annual get together. We are currently in our 50’s and have been meeting each year for years. This year, we chose Jim Thorpe. The owner was wonderful to work with. She answered questions quickly and thoroughly. The house itself was in a great location. It was within walking distance of restaurants, museums, shops and the train. There are four floors to the house. We had plenty of space to sleep, gather and talk, cook and simply enjoy our time together. The house has much history and many beautiful antiques.

Beautiful Victorian house with modern amenities

The house is stunning, with actual antiques. Very accurate decor, but with modern amenities where needed, such as in the bathroom and kitchen (no microwave). Plenty of room, with multiple trundle beds.Parking is limited, so carpool if able. There is paid parking in the municipal lot. Lots of steps, so great leg workout. There is a stunning suite with bathroom on the bottom floor, but if someone is mobility disabled, it will be difficult for them to access the main and upper floors.We absolutely loved the house and it has immediate access to downtown Jim Thorpe.There is a perfect top floor room for children.

Thank you for the lovely review Andrew. You are welcome back anytime. We do have parking for 5 cars included with the stay, however if you need more then 5 car parking you would then need to go to the municipal lot.

Perfect for a family gathering

We were there with family members for a wedding close by. The house was perfect for a large gathering we had different numbers staying each of the 3 nights and the house accommodated all of us well. We were in Margaret’s Suite and it was very private from the rest of the house. All our gatherings were in the kitchen and music room where we all fit. Being right in the heart of Jim Thorpe family members could walk down at their leisure anytime. For a large gathering this is the perfect house,it has all the amenities you need in a historical setting. We really enjoyed our stay and getting together with family.

Great spot to explore Jim Thorpe with a big group

We enjoyed our stay! There were 14 adults which was just about the right amount to sleep comfortably. We used the kitchen to cook breakfast and dinner. The outdoor gazebo was fun to hang out in. The location can’t be beat if you want to explore Jim Thorpe. If you have trouble with stairs, this might not be the place for you since all but one bedroom is up 2 flights.
