About Joan Morykin

I am an avid runner and cyclist and the mother of two young children. My husband is an artist who also has his studio in the building where we also run an art gallery and event venue space.

Joan Morykin purchased this mill in 2004

Why Joan Morykin chose Poconos

I first visited Jim Thorpe on a weekend get away from New York City in 1998 and immediately fell in love with the town - its proximity to New York and Philadelphia was perfect for a weekend retreat and I bought a small weekend house. A number of years later, my artist husband was looking for studio space and we purchased a 15,000 sq. ft. former wireworks factory and spent six years fixing up the building. As an avid runner, the beautiful mountain trails still hold a fascination for me every time I go out. This town is perfect to raise a family - there is an old fashioned candy store, a classic 5&10 and easy access to the Lehigh River and a recreational lake park, skiing and cycling.

What a wonderful surprise!

  • 5 of 5

My brother, myself and our families (total 8) stayed at this wonderful getaway in Jim Thorpe for a weekend in June. This very unique, spacious, and eclectic loft apartment was a perfect set up for our weekend stay. The apartment is over a working artist's studio and you can see his work and inspiration at every turn. There was plenty of room for the 8 of us and it was an easy walk into downtown Jim Thorpe. The driving distances to hiking, whitewater rafting, etc. were within 10-15 min. Joan and Victor were wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome. I expect we will be returning to this great place!

Perfect unique loft ..great location

  • 5 of 5

We love staying at the loft in Jim thorp. It truly is a one of kind gem. We just love looking at Victors art work through out the building. Victor is truly a brilliant artist. Joan is gracious and very accomadating to any needs of her guest . Although not needed Because the mountain views are fabulous , we noticed all the new window treatments this year . So thank you for the option. The loft is just a perfect and unique getaway for couples or groups . It is clean spacious great location and certainly a fun conversation piece I love to share with others . Looking forward to coming back again next year. Thanks Joan and victor for sharing your little treasure with us and all the other guest lucky enough to have had the opportunity to stay there as well. Donna and Dominic Ranieri New Jersey 10/16
