About this property
Marfa Hill House: Adobe, Gardens & Sunset Views
Watch the sun set beyond downtown Marfa from a historic adobe home on the hill. Art-filled rooms, a private porch and landscaped grounds make this a distinctive place to slow down between gallery visits. Sleeps up to six, with two main-level bedrooms and a separate downstairs cave room reached from outside.
THE HOUSE Hill House brings together historic adobe architecture, Robert's art and landscape design, and views across downtown Marfa toward the mountains and sunset. Enjoy the view from the private porch and from inside the house.
Cook in the full kitchen, gather around the kiva fireplace, or enjoy the landscaped grounds. Heating, air conditioning, reliable Wi-Fi, a washer and a dryer are available.
SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS Main-level bedroom: one queen bed. Second main-level bedroom: two twin beds. Downstairs cave room: bunk beds with two sleeping places. This room has a separate entrance reached by going outside; there is no interior connection to the main-level bedrooms.
The cave room often works well for older children or teenagers, but may not suit adults seeking a conventional bedroom or families who want younger children close by.
The full bathroom is upstairs in the main house, and the half bath is downstairs in the cave room. Cave-room guests go outside to reach the main house and its full bathroom. Hill House also has an outdoor shower.
PRIVATE AND SHARED SPACES You have exclusive use of Hill House, its bedrooms and private porch. The Canteen is a separate rental on the property and may host other guests during your stay. Only the large yard and its seating and grilling area are shared.
Both rentals can be booked together, subject to availability, for exclusive use of the property. Please inquire about availability for both spaces before booking.
Please treat the house, artwork, furnishings and grounds with care. Damage to the property, fixtures, furnishings, artwork, decor or linens may result in additional charges.

Phenomenal property with 13yr history of being enjoyed by many. Absolutely unique one-of-a-kind gem. As long as you don't mind stairs, this place should be the first one you look for when booking in Marfa.
This house is the best property you can stay at in Marfa. The design of the house, the art, and the location/views are incredible. If I come back to Marfa I will only stay here.
We loved our stay here- it’s close to town and has a great vibe. Loved the finish out and artwork. The owner has a cool aesthetic and it was a perfect spot for our family for two nights close to everything in Marfa.
Hill House was amazing! The historic Adobe is charming. The garden was magical with everything in bloom and butterflies everywhere (in August!). The views were awesome - both at sunrise and sunset. We'll definitely be back to stay again.

Thank you Nathan! So glad you enjoyed your stay -- come back anytime!
Gorgeous, clean house with Marfa-appropriate quirkiness. Loved the sunset views, high quality furnishings and landscape architecture.
Only note is that downstairs "cave" room bunk beds are short mattresses that would be best for kids or people under 6'.
Perfect location and the house was tastefully decorated with plenty of “extras” like coffee, soap, etc. The owner communicated quickly and was very helpful. We were able to walk to several restaurants and it was a great base for visiting different sites in the area. The house is ideal for a couple or small family with older children. I would not recommend it for anyone who has trouble with steps. Younger kids would probably not be able to stay in the downstairs as bedroom as it can only be accessed by going outside. None of these were an issue for us but something to note for older visitors or anyone with young children.
My husband and I stayed here for four nights. What a great house! We would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Marfa. It's so unique and the art throughout is wonderful. The beds were comfy. The towels are better than the ones I have at home.We spent a lot of time in the morning and evening sitting on the balcony. It was truly a highlight of the trip for us. The sunsets are spectacular and the breeze in the morning, along with all of the bird activity, was just lovely.
It's a good place to stay for a few nights. Private parking is nice. The location is easy to get in and out of. The kitchen is well-stocked and the view is beautiful. The AC was a little hard to find because it was hidden behind two doors. The beds were comfortable. The only drawback is sharing a long bathroom with 2 boys - would have been nice to have the toilet a little more secluded but it was only a couple of nights. The property is really nice.
This was our second time at the Hill House. We stayed ten years ago when our daughter was a teen. Now she works in Big Bend and we knew when we were planning to visit that we had to stay in Hill House again. What a magical and unique place. The house is perfectly situated to visit Big Bend, Davis Mountains, galleries in Marfa - whatever you fancy. And it is a perfect place to relax in the evening with wine, family and friends. The host was responsive and helpful, the house was clean and comfortable, and the decor is stunning. This is the perfect home base for your west Texas visit. Thank you for a perfect reunion!
The stargazing at night is truly the highlight of this property. It will take your breath away! The house is well appointed with unique art and decor which truly gives you the Marfa experience. sipping coffee on the balcony and watching the butterflies dance in the garden was a delight every morning. Be prepared for the stairs, but once you are in the house, you will have everything at your fingertips. We also were able to walk to most places in town, which was quite convenient. We will book this property again!
We three adult women loved our stay. The house is cozy and comfortable with lovely views, and the art is great. We walked all over town from this location, although some might choose to drive. Please note that there are a number of steps -- no problem for us, but could be for some. Also, the 3rd bedroom is downstairs through a separate entrance. This can be a good thing if you want privacy, but we chose to double up in the upstairs room with twin beds so no one had to be lonely downstairs. Highly recommend staying here!
This property represents the ultimate vibe you want and expect while visiting Marfa! This home has great art and a porch that allows you to enjoy a great view of the town as the sun sets. The evening lights showcase this property in a magical way!
The home sits right on the edge of town yet is still within walking distance to all the wonderful galleries Marfa offers. There is a handy general store right across the street.
This “House On The Hill” offered every feature we were looking for and reflects the pride the owners have taken to ensure we enjoyed our stay.
Our daughter was getting married in Marfa and this home was used as a backdrop for a great photo shoot!
Loved it!!!
Terrific house. Better than the photo's. Great value. Great views. Elegant, wonderful vibe. Can see sunsets over the whole town. Private. Clean. Easy in and out. Owner is laid back and communicative. We had 3 adults and there was plenty of room. 4 adults plus a couple of kids would be easy. Plenty of parking. No TV but you don't need it: you're in Marfa, turn off the TV!! Internet is strong enough to stream all you need off a computer if you need video entertainment. I travel a lot and use VRBO a lot and this may have been the best place I've stayed in for the price. Will definitely try to rent it again.

This is our second time in Marfa and the first time we stay at this rental. We plan on staying here again. The interior and exterior are both charming and relaxing and provide the ambiance of a true getaway. My teenage boys had the space they needed. Upon entering the rental the radio was tuned to Marfa's local station that we now listen to back home. The art and layout of the rental are one of a kind. Great big shower with good shower spray pressure. My husband and son both used the outdoor shower. Comfy beds and all the amenities you need. Lush garden with an abundant amount of butterflies. Our gracious host answered my questions in a timely manner.

About the host
Hosted by Robert Bellamy
I own a landscape design company in Dallas, TX where I have lived my entire life. As an artist, I was drawn to Marfa because there is always something interesting and educational or musical going on in town. Being in the high desert it's warm and dry during the day...crisp and cool at night. I try to get to Marfa at least once a month.
What makes this property unique
