About Thomas Byrne
I purchased the Thomas Harrison house in 1991 and restored it over the next few years. The process of research and restoration of this house, built when George Washington was President, greatly increased my interest in historic architecture and the history of St. Michaels. This interest lead to the purchase and restoration of the nearby Washington Melson, Thomas Blades and John Bruff houses (click on link for info on these two bedroom properties).

Why Thomas Byrne chose Saint Michaels
The combination of the waterfront location (with spectacular views of harbor and Miles River), architecture and the historic character of house and the surrounding area, walking distance to shops, restaurants, museums, etc., size of the living space, patio and porch, as well as the people of St. Michaels, make this a very special place.
What makes this House unique
The Harrison house sits prominently on the harbor in St. Michaels with wonderful water views. It is the ONLY large vacation rental house in Town. Walking distance to everything... shops, restaurants, coffee shops, museums, parks, Town pool, tennis courts, library, farmer's market and other attractions. Adjacent cottages can be rented if size of party exceeds 9.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
We rented 2 houses from Tom so far and always had a great experience!
T. Harrison House
Great place to stay. A short walk to town and all the St. Michaels amenities!
Location is unbeatable
House was cleaned and ready and everything was in order as described. We parked and walked to everything. It was quite interesting to stay in such an old house.
Cool old house
Great location, plenty of space for a big group and we loved the back patio with the rocking chairs. It’s a unique house and very tidy, we spent the first 20 mins just exploring.
I agree with some other reviewers that it’s not the most comfortable house to hang out inside because of the antique furniture but we spent most of our time outside/in town so it didn’t matter and I think furniture adds to the houses charm. Could use an upgrade on the mattresses. They aren’t completely terrrible and if I was in my 20s I probably wouldn’t even notice.
Great property and I would recommend it to friends. We didn’t have to contact the owner about anything. Everything you need is provided. It’s a cool old house!
Lovely Home and Location
The house is absolutely beautiful. The location could not be better, a few blocks walk to everything downtown St Michaels has to offer.
The view is to die for, amazing sunrises.
NYE in St. Michaels
We travelled to St. Michaels for NYE 2019. Stayed in the above property. Awesome location and within walking distance to all sights in St. Michaels. House is extremely old with lots of character and a very homey feel. It is also quite large and it just seems like there is room after room after room. Would rent out this home again!
