Great family vacation

I would describe this property as a mansion that belongs on a movie set. It features an expansive pool that overlooks the ocean. The house is very spacious and can accommodate a large group of at least 16 guests. Not only did the house exceed our expectations, but the property manager, Alicia, and the housekeeper, Juan, along with his wife, were incredibly helpful and met all our needs. I highly recommend this place for a secluded family vacation.

We stayed here with a 13 family members. There was plenty of space. We had the chefs every day, the marachi band, and drink/bar service one night. It was all fantastic. Every detail was well thought out, including remote speaker, games, extra charging cords. The air conditioning worked well. There are a lot of steps so we had to keep an eye on baby

Family celebrations

The photos online are accurate. We were still surprised when we arrived at how beautiful the home and the property is. We stayed a full week. We wish it was a fullMonth. Every need was catered to. The house was spotless and kept immaculately. The staff was so kind and so helpful. We came to celebrate two birthdays and a very amazing wedding anniversary. It was a trip of a lifetime. Thank you to Juan and Mariela and Roberto and Gerry. Every minute was a memory we will cherish always.

greatest stay villa is as beautiful as it looks….. the only problem we had was electricity went out for almost 2 days no generator but the smaller villa next door had a generator hard with small children in the night but loved the villa

Amazing place to stay in Cozumel

What an awesome property. Far and away the best rental I’ve stayed in through VRBO. The home is absolutely exquisite and a great value. Beautiful location, great amenities and impeccably maintained. Everyday, we had at least a few folks stop on the beach to take selfies in front of the property. I will definitely be looking to rent it again.

Perfect Casa

The pictures of the house are exact. We loved the main room of the house as it was big, yet cozy for our family to gather. Beds were very comfortable, swiiming pool was just the right temperature, and the beach and view were amazing. Juan and Maria, the caretakers were friendly and helpful. Communiciation with the owner, Alicia, was always quick and easy. This was a perfect family vacation in a beautifully clean home. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful accommodations for a large family group

Incredible property, impeccably maintained inside and out with very friendly and helpful staff. We were a large 3 generation family group, ages 11 months to several sets of 60-70 year old grandparents. The chef was great. We couldn’t have managed without their wonderful meals. The concierge Jessica, was very helpful, especially for getting car rentals even at the last minute. She arranged a boat/snorkeling trip that was a highlight of our stay. The location is perfect. You can walk the beach a long ways south (maybe 2 miles?).

Dive trip and family time

Amazing location for dive boat pick up. Beautiful view of the beach too with shade from gorgeous palm trees. Noisy with beach clubs and we had a noisy group staying next to us. Great if you are out on the boat all day. Some beach club guests lingered a bit uncomfortably close at times. As we were all adults we placed security top of mind and looked out for each other. The island is so amazing for diving and this property is excellent for water access and ocean views.

Paradise!

We had a wonderful time! Juan and staff took very good care of us and our surroundings. The beach was terrific and the pool so inviting! We had Jessica over for a scuba refresher class ...she is a gem. We went snorkeling with Chi Chi Charters and it was amazing. Saw many different aquatic life. We also went to Punta Sur. We do love it there. We went out to dinner to Azul Madera (so-so), Pancho's Backyard (delicious and great tequila options), Buccanos (excellent), Kondesa (delish), and for our last night Guido's (also excellent). We had massages on the rooftop of the villa...out of this world! Everything we did was convenient to get to with the rental car. Thank you! We'll be back! Alison

Great time!

The property was fantastic and certainly met all visual expectations. The staff was very accommodating and answered our requests promptly. The only critical feedback I can give is that the pool seemed cold at about 70 degrees especially after swimming in the 81 degree ocean. We were told that there is no heater for the pool. We also ran out of hot water every time we all wanted to shower but certainly can be easily fixed by installing a tankless water heater. Other than that, we all had a great time!

Absolute perfection

This was my 26th visit to Cozumel. I have stayed at hotels, resorts and rented many villas. This villa provides an excellent choice for a family group. There were a total of ten of us, seven adults and three children. The house was staffed by Juan and his wife Mariela who reside on premises in a separate casita. They were always available but never intrusive. The service was excellent. We did not take advantage of the offered chef service as we enjoy the numerous restaurant options available on the island. We loved it so much we rented it for next year while we were staying there. Rent this villa you will not regret it.

Amazing Luxury Private Rental

This is my 3rd stay at Chango Villa. It is surpasses my expectations (and they are high). The home is beachfront with an infinity pool. My guests and I woke up to the smell of delicious breakfast on the terrace every morning. We would unlock the equipment room and use the kayaks, paddle boards, and the snorkel gear. This past time, Brian (owner) arranges a boat trip with JJ to the most beautiful beach. We swam, drank margaritas and snorkeled with the fish and even saw stingrays and eels. JJ was local and better than any tourist firm on the island. The bedrooms are huge and private, and the beds are so comfortable so that just that and the sound of the ocean I was asleep in 5 minutes every night. My guests were thrilled and now can't wait to go back on their own. Thanks once again Brian, I will be booking trip #4 shortly!

Best Week Ever!

THANK YOU!! Colorado group of friends spent the week of Jan 21-28th 2023. Everything advertised about this home is spot on. Our group was 5 couples and 2 single adults. Best vacation everyone having their own space and also the perfect group space. Starting at the top with the covered outdoor space provides beautiful views for miles, sunrise to sunset. Kitchen large enough to gather around the counter to mix drinks, eat snacks etc. The outdoor dinning, perfect for our group to eat like a family and thanks to Luis and Axle we ate wonderful food. I highly recommend the chef services they will NOT disappoint. The Pool was a little cold, but refreshing for a quick dip. Nice private (ish) area of beach and a beautiful view of the ocean. Captured a few great pics of the sunset through the palm trees. (Frame worthy). Thank you Alicia for the great communication throughout the planning process and thank you for the house for the week. We felt spolied that week and look forward to another trip in the future.

January vacay

We, 4 couples, rented Chango Villa for the 2nd week of January to escape some winter blues. Communication was easy with the owners from early on and during our stay, answering all my random questions. It was perfect for us as the 3rd floor has 4 equal king suites. The villa had us in awe from the moment we arrived, throughout our stay, and when we said good bye to our new friends (the staff). I’m so glad I did my research and we requested the chef services during our stay, including lobster upgrade one night. (Name spellings?). Chef Luis was great and so friendly along with his assistant Axle. Can’t recommend this enough. On Sunday we took a taxi just a short ride to Alberto’s for dinner and a great sunset view; (Chef’s day off.). Villa Manager, Juan, was kind and helped with anything we needed, including setting up taxi rides with Javier, and on site massages. Juan’s wife Marilla arrived every morning to tidy up around the villa for us. They were all great. We always felt safe as there is a gate at the driveway and locking gates at all beach access points. We used the shopping services as well, and it was nice to arrive to a fully stocked refrigerator, cupboards and bar. We took daily morning walks, usually up (North) along the beach past Residencias Reef condos and then on the concrete boardwalk through Secrets. Cozumel is a major cruise port, so the Beach Clubs (to the South) fill up with “cruisers” from about 9:30 - 4:30. There’s enough distance from the villa that they never really bothered us. Definitely bring water shoes for the ocean as there are some rocks and coral as you enter. I didn’t think the snorkeling was great, but some others in our group had better luck, and one saw a seahorse! Gracias Alicia. Hope we can return some day.

If you've done your homework prior to reading this review you would have discovered many 5-star reviews by a variety of Chango guests. Believe them - they are all 100% accurate! The accommodations are ideal for family vacations or a multiple friends/couples get-away, offering every possible amenity as well as ideal privacy. Enjoy the delectable meal service for a true destination vacation experience that offers native cuisine, prepared and served onsite. Bask in the sunshine of the spacious back courtyard; play in the infinity pool; and relish the sensation of sand between your toes on the private beach. The colors of Chango Villa are nothing less than awe-inspiring! From the lovely décor of the villa itself to the incredible scenic views, the vibrant colors, along with gentle breezes whispering through the fronds of the surrounding palm trees will soothe, relax and rejuvenate. From sunrise, to sunset, to moon glow - you will revel in all that is Chango Villa. Your comfort and pleasure is their goal - and they do it well. The daily caretakers of the villa are phenomenal - truly the nicest, most courteous people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. They are so non-intrusive you'll barely realize they're there, yet they will make you feel very well cared for during your stay. This specific vacation was for the purpose of bringing all of my children & grandchildren together for a destination family vacation. My kids/grandkids ranged in ages from 5 years to 40+ (a group of 11 total) and each one of us had an absolute blast in a truly lovely, very secure setting! The villa is absolutely ideal for a group of this size. In summary, I am an average middle class person who has experienced travel to various destinations around the world and have enjoyed numerous 5-star hotels, or exotic resorts. No one does it better Chango Villa -- no one!! And no one is more pleasurable to work with, or more service oriented than Brian, the owner! Don't miss this experience, people!! It is everything I have described and more. A part of my heart will always remain at Chango Villa! It would be my extreme pleasure to one day return. Loved Everything About Chango Villa

I stayed at Chango Villa with a group of 4 families, so we had both adults and teenagers in the house. The teens stayed on the ground floor, where they essentially had their own bedrooms, bathrooms and a kitchen, while the parents stayed on the second floor. The first floor had one bedroom, the master kitchen and a living room. We ate all of our meals outside on the covered patio in front of the pool. The experience was, in a word, exceptional. We opted for the meal plan, and Teresa, our cook, did an outstanding job at accommodating the various special dietary needs of our group, including the need for some to eat gluten-free, others who could not eat onions, and some who were vegetarian. She navigated that challenge effortlessly, and the meals were all delicious. Everything was spotless, inside and out. The mattress on the beds were firm (perfect for me, but some might not like a firm mattress), and the sheets were soft. I loved having the options of simply keeping the sliding doors of the bedroom open to let the sea breezes in, using a ceiling fan, or having the air conditioning on. Security is excellent. There is room for four cars to park next to the house. We used the flat roof for a birthday party, which was great. There is a house next door to Chango Villa that is very close to the property, but because of the foliage and clever tilework, you can barely see each other. Chango feels very private, even though you are aware of others being around you. The infinity pool was also excellent. In the afternoon it is half shaded, which made a big difference for those of us who didn't want to bake in the sun too much. The pool water for our visit in mid-March was the perfect temperature- not too warm, not too cold. There are plenty of lounge chairs on the deck and on the beach in front of the house. The beach is fine-grained sand, but as soon as you go into the ocean, the bottom is pretty rough rocks, so water shoes are a must if you plan on snorkeling there. The concierge, Jessica, was very helpful in helping us make arrangements for excursions, restaurants, etc., and Brian, the owner, came by to introduce himself at one point to see if everything was okay. It's clear that he really loves the property and tries to do right by everyone who rents it. The only weak link for us was the fact that the WiFi system worked well everywhere except in the ground floor bedrooms, where the signal was not so good. Would we stay at Chango Villa again? Yes, absolutely!

Why they chose this property

The property was purchased in 2003 by our family to be a unique vacation destination. Cozumel was chosen because of the spectacular Caribbean water, amazing scuba diving, and the islands rich culture and casual life style. The villa was custom designed, constructed, and completed in early 2006. Our first guests began renting the villa in the middle of 2006.
