The property was gorgeous and perfect for our group of 10 (6 adults, 4 children). The kids loved the pool and it was an amazing place to relax after our adventurous days! Wonderful bird watching , squirrel and capuchin monkeys came to visit, lots of iguana spotting! Hazel and Andrey, our concierges, were very helpful. Housekeeping services were great. We loved all our excursions too!

Thank you so much for this lovely review! 🌴✨ We’re thrilled that Estrella de Mar was a great fit for your group and that both the adults and kids enjoyed the pool and downtime after your adventures. It’s always a treat when our local wildlife puts on a show—capuchins, iguanas, and all!
We’re especially happy to hear Hazel and Andrey took great care of you, and that housekeeping and excursions met your expectations. It means a lot to know your time in Manuel Antonio was so memorable. We’d absolutely love to welcome you and your family back anytime! 🐒🌺
This is a great house for a larger group, located in a very good location between Quepos and Manuel Antonio. The property is as described here. The chef and concierge well exceeded our expectations!

Amazing private villa for 8-12 people, some caveats
This is a great property and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a spectacular, spacious, comfortable, and private villa located 10 minutes to each of Quepos & Manuel Antonio. The management company & their concierge service was *amazing* and helped so much make it a wonderful experience. The in-home chef service was also great (but see notes below).I was there with 2 couples and 5 kids, age 5-19 and we loved it. Could have up to 14 people if the "kids room" with bunks and pull-outs are used, otherwise 10 adults if you want to avoid adults sleeping in the double bunk bed. However there are things to be aware of: the property needs 5-10k in updates, e.g. fridge, dishwasher, light fixtures, some TVs (a laughably small one in one room), better wifi (didn't work in basement, barely worked in out-building bedroom), limited seating options for anyone doing remote work. There is no laundry available. The dining table only seats 8. One of the large downstairs bedrooms has no en suite bathroom but instead an "across the hall" bathroom. The bedroom in the out-building with the pool cabana has an en suite with a jacuzzi bath, but no shower. The outside shower is cold water only. The chef service was amazing, but you need to be very specific in food requests (e.g. if you want any alcohol or drinks, otherwise just water) and quantities are huge, expect left overs. It was also *much more expensive* than going out to eat. Finally, most taxis wouldn't go up the hill.

Thank you so much for your detailed and thoughtful review! We’re thrilled to hear that you and your group had a wonderful stay and enjoyed the space, privacy, and attentive service from our management and concierge team — as well as the in-home chef experience.
We also truly appreciate your constructive feedback. Since your stay, we’ve made several key updates to improve comfort and functionality, including a brand-new refrigerator, new black out curtains, new cushions for the pool pavilion. It is also important to mention the kitchen var has stool for extra guests.
Your notes about the chef service are helpful for future guests — we agree that it’s best to communicate preferences clearly in advance to ensure the best experience. And while the villa is perched in a beautiful, private location, we understand the hill can be tricky for some taxis, so we’re always happy to assist with 4x4 taxis through our concierge team.
Thanks again for your recommendation and for helping us continue to improve.
3 stars. Nice house but Had major issues. We won't rent this house again. The issues were too much.
First, let me say that this house was the perfect size for my family of 9! It was beautiful and had a great pool. The property was teeming with wildlife. There was always something fun to do within a short distance from the property. But, we did have some major issues. The concierge, Andres, was easy to contact and seemed prompt to address each issue; but not every problem could be fixed. The AC unit and ceiling fan in one of the bedrooms was not working. That room was extremely uncomfortable during the 1st and 2nd nights of the stay. I messaged Andres to let him know. He provided a plug-in fan for the room. AC repairmen came to fix the unit. We do feel it could and should have been addressed before we arrived. I did not like leaving our things unattended in the house as several men worked on the AC unit. The shades in the master room would not raise to expose the windows. Andres let me know he knew that they were broken and could not be fixed while we were in the house. I was very disappointed because I love to have the sliding glass doors open during the daylight hrs. It is a major reason we chose this house. The master bedroom remained very dark and depressing the whole stay because of the broken shades. Another day, the pool house had no hot water. Again, I messaged Andres. He sent someone out to fix the hot water unit the next day. Again, our things were unattended while we were gone and people were in the house. We ran into a major issue during the last 24+ hrs of our stay when the whole house and the pool house had absolutely no water at all. I mean ZERO water. We had no showers, water for washing hands, cooking, flushing toilets, or anything. We were filthy from being out with activities at the beach and hiking the day the water stopped. But, we couldn’t clean up once we arrived back at the rental. The issue was never fixed during our last 24+ hrs of our stay. We felt embarrassed for leaving fecal messes in the toilets from not being able to flush and gross because we couldn’t shower for our return flights. We were told it was a water pressure issue because the house is so big. During our stay, we also took advantage of the chef services for 3 evenings. Alejandro was amazing! His food was incredible and he was very professional. The 3rd night we had a different chef who stole about 1lb of cooked steak with him when he left and served us grocery store pie still in the package. I paid for that! Very unprofessional. 3 stars overall.
We rented this property to celebrate my birthday and it was fantastic! Plenty of space for everyone and a lovely, serene setting. We took advantage of the chef on a few days, who provided delicious meals and we were able to easily get into town and other activities. We highly recommend Henry as a tour guide for the National Park! It was a perfect week!
