Host was wonderful. Gave directions from exit which helpful. The trash dumpster was harder to find and I feel the pool rates should be told before booking. Also found beer cans in upstairs rooms and toilet upstairs was not safe to use.

Thank you for your stay and for sharing your feedback. We’re glad to hear our directions were helpful and that you had a smooth check-in experience.
For clarity, the location of the trash dumpster is provided in several places—including our listing, the access email, and our guidebook—and our written directions take guests directly past it. We’re sorry it was missed during your visit.
Regarding the indoor pool, it is operated by a third-party association. The rates are publicly posted and also included in our listing details, house rules, and welcome materials so guests can review them before arrival.
Our cleaning team documents each room before and after every stay, and no beer cans or issues with the upstairs bathroom were present during our inspection. We take great pride in our housekeeping and maintenance standards to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all guests.
We did note an occupancy discrepancy during this reservation. While we appreciate guests who follow our house rules, we are unable to host groups that exceed the confirmed guest count, and we have documented this accordingly within the review system.
Thank you again for your feedback, and we wish you the best in your future travels.
Everything was wondeful, would stay again in a heart beat.

Great, relaxing rental
We really enjoyed our stay. The house was very nice and the lake was beautiful. John & Dorene were very easy to work with and were quick to respond to questions.
Very relaxing time at a beautiful chalet right on a picturesque up-north lake. Great fishing and campfires! Away from big cities but close enough to Gaylord to make quick trips for any needs.
we enjoyed our winter spring break. the hot tub was a hit, sitting outside while it was snowing!!!! The house was clean and the beds were comfy! Everything was as listed, it was a nice stay.
We had an amazing time. The water was crystal clear. We kayaked everyday. The hot tub was amazing and the kids had such a good time. Never once did we hear "im bored" perfect vacation spot for some relaxation and family time
Clean & organized home with plenty of room, perfect spot on the lake, great activities, great hot tub and close enough to town.

A relaxing getaway
We stayed in this cabin for a long weekend getaway and it was very relaxing. Everything was clean. We had a nice welcome note on the counter when we got there. I would recommend staying at this owners rentals. We enjoyed the outdoor hot tub even in the snow.
We had a great time at this home. Perfect layout for our 3 boys with the loft bedroom. Kitchen is well stocked and had everything we needed for the week. Location is great! only a couple minute walk to the pool. Good bluegill fishing right from the dock. The boat was great for sunset cruises. We will definetly be back!!

Fantastic Time!
The description of the Chalet was accurate! Was very clean & fully stocked with kitchen amenities, had a great lay out with the beach/dock and beach toys (boats). Had books/videos, games, pie irons, etc. We had 8 people & 2 dogs with us and had plenty of room & stuff to do. The surrounding neighborhood with association pool was very nice. The hot tub was a great treat! And you are only 7 miles to the city of Gaylord (Meijer, TJMaxx, downtown shops). We have recommended this great place to family & friends!
We had a great time!
Thank you!

Cozy cabin and base for hiking
My wife and I enjoyed a fall stay at the Sunset Cottage. The lake was peaceful and pretty, and we particularly enjoyed watching sunset from the jacuzzi. My dog enjoyed exploring the shore, while i read a book in one of many chairs. The cottage had lots of goods touches for renters, including a Michigan outdoor recreation atlas, a map of the unpaved roads around the lake, games for kids, etc.
The house was also a great base for trips. Hartwick pines (the only old growth in the lower peninsula) was gorgeous, and we also had lunch at another of several state parks in easy driving distance.
We have already reserved the cottage again for next year.

Awesome Girls Trip!
We all had a fabulous time at Sunset Beach! Long weekend for 9 girls & 1 dog :) Plenty of room for everyone and perfect location for visiting Traverse City and Mackinac Island. The hot tub was used often and so was the outside firepit and the fireplace. Even the kayaks were used snce we were lucky enough to have warmer than expected weather the day we arrived. There is a great park right at the end of the road, althought it was too late in the year to use the basketball court, pool etc., it was a nice place to be able to walk the dog. Dorene was awesome to deal with - answered every question we had and their pizza was fabulous! We will definitely to making a return trip - thanks again!

If you're looking for a wonderful lake property for a family vacation, look no further. The chalet was clean, stocked and perfect for my family with three kids. We spent hours fishing (pike, bass and tons of pan fish right off the dock) and using the pontoon boat, swimming in the lake and afternoons on the sand bar. The kids enjoyed playing all the games as well. Having access to the pool and pickleball/playground was a bonus. The hot tub was great to relax in after a long day of activities. Dorene and John are phenomenal hosts and made sure everything was perfect for us. We even had a ready made campfire set up for us! Every year we take a different vacation to a lake house and everyone thought this was by far the best! We'll be back here for sure!
Thank you John and Dorene!
The house was wonderful and clean when arrived. Neighborhood was quiet and lake was not super busy for the week so taking the kids out on the boat was nice and calm. Fishing was great off the dock! Caught bass, bulegil and sun fish. Beach front was a bit weedy and rocky but water was clear. Pool was a nice bonus, but we only went down once due to rainy weather during our trip. With the rainy weather, we spent lots of time in the hot tub! Only bummer for us was that the kayaks and life jackets were full of spiders and didn't appear to have been used in quite a while. We will definitely be back to one of these rental properties!

Family Vacation
We have stayed at multiple houses at Lake Arrowhead and just love the location. Sunset Beach is a cozy cottage that was perfect for the 4 adults and 2 children that stayed the entire week. It was also large enough to accommodate a weekend stay for 2 more adults and a little dog. We loved the beach area, although the water level is definitely higher compared to the picture of the beach. We chose Sunset Beach because of the beach area for the 2 children. The kids didn't mind the lack of beach at all, at ages 8 and 5 they loved swimming out ( with life jackets provided!) to the platform and jumping off...over and over and over! The lake is small enough so that we felt very safe teaching the 8 and 5 year olds how to kayak! Fishing off the dock was the highlight for the kids, one night our granddaughter caught 19 fish! Granted they were all to small to keep, but imagine the delight in watching her face as she continued to catch little "fishies"! The association pool is a very short walk away so we enjoyed the pool in the morning and the lake in the afternoon. Sunset Beach was by far are favorite cottage. Only issue... Be very careful in reading over the contract, especially when pertaining to the number of guests staying at the cottage. Overall....a wonderful week!

Everyone loves Sunset Beach and home gets repeat guests all the time. Yes, of course, you need to book home with correct amount of guests and not bring in unregistered guests in a private neighborhood as I have to certify guest count of renter and if the renter lies on amount of people, we will have an issue
Generously stocked with necessities like paper products (love not having to run out for adequate quantity for our stay). Oct visit during fall colors provided beautiful backdrop everywhere we looked. Kayaked, fished off dock, hot tub soaks, ping pong tournaments, campfires and comfy beds made for a rejuvenating 3 night stay. Host very timely in responses. Would definitely stay again!
We had a wonderful stay at Sunset Beach! The kids loved the beach and kayaks and the adults loved the hot tub! The pool was great too. We had campfires and watched beautiful sunsets.
Cell phone service is not good in the area but the wifi worked great. The kids loved having the upstairs room as their space. We would stay here again!
Great host!
She always answer after a few minutes, the place is clean and the hot tub is the cherry on the cake, my 5 year old enjoyed a lot. We also have fun in the lake with the kayaks including my wife and dogs jajaja, we swim for a little bit even though that the weather wasn't the best... we'll love everything and we'll definitely come back when is 80° to Dorene looking for a different cabin but definitely with her in a couple months if she have a space in the calender lol 😆
