About the property

Condo, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 2-4)

Hola!

CASA TUCAN is one of eleven suites in the distinctive Villa Blanca condominium, renowned for its organic design by Mexican architect Diego Mendez De La Penas. Variously known as “the Piano Building” or “Vallarta’s Wedding Cake,” Villa Blanca is one of the most architecturally distinctive buildings in Puerto Vallarta, and is widely recognized for its lush plantings and spectacular views.

Each unit in Villa Blanca is privately owned, and the building is serviced by a friendly and helpful manager fluent in English. Daily maid service is included, and a security guard is present after dark.

CASA TUCAN is a LUXURIOUSLY spacious (MORE THAN 850 sq. ft.!) TRUE 1-BR, 2-Bath suite, perfect for short or long-term rentals! Quietly situated away from common areas.

The unit includes a full kitchen (sans oven), dining area, LR w/2 large sofas (each can sleep 1 adult), Private BR w/King-size bed, and 2 full Baths complete with large tiled showers. CASA TUCAN is a private retreat awash in light, and features its own PRIVATE SUNSET TERRACE/LANAI, unique among 1-BR and studios in this building.

Additional amenities include the beautiful cooling pool at the building entrance patio, which offers a welcome respite from the glorious Vallartan sunshine. And the rooftop terrace is a haven for quiet sunsets or evening gatherings, offering a spectacular panoramic view of Banderas Bay from Los Arcos to downtown Puerto Vallarta. The rooftop terrace also features a traditional Mexican grill and outdoor bar/kitchen area.

For one of Vallarta’s most glorious beaches, cross the cobblestone Amapas Street, and you're less than 100 steps down to the beautiful Playa Los Muertos, with sand, surf, people-watching and an abundance of beach cafes, including the famous Blue Chairs Beach.

CASA TUCAN is centrally located in the Zona Romantica, and just a short walk to everything the Old Town and Olas Altas areas have to offer, from shopping to clubs and fine dining. Just minutes south of Casa Tucan lay numerous small, secluded beaches, and the area abounds in charming day-trip destinations rife with local color and culture. Whether you’re searching for a quiet romantic retreat, or an evening spent sipping martini’s in a luxurious cabaret lounge, Zona Romantica offers a quieter alternative to the bustle of Nuevo Vallarta and the Marina district.

Muchos Gracias!

Lovely spot

  • 4 of 5

Roomy and well located near the beach and the Romantic Zone, with all the equipment you will want. We took the folding chairs to the beach several times. The little balcony is great for eating outside, but the combination of foliage and a condo going up across the street means what little ocean view now exists soon won't. However, you can hear the waves because the area is so quiet at night.

The pool is for ducking yourself, far too small for swimming, and the great rooftop deck needs more shade, but these are minor points. We'd definitely rent there again.

Location, charm, character, great value!

  • 5 of 5

Thanks Daniel!

The location, unit and price was perfect for us!

Wanting to be close to this part of the beach without being too much of a hike up the hill was ideal. Although there were only 2 of us in the unit, having 2 bathrooms is a very nice extra! The personal items from books to art to collectables made the unit feel genuine. It had a very pleasant patio table with a tropical lush setting and the Tucan theme was repeated a number of times. While the new modern complexes that have been built over the past few years offer a lot of fresh fancy features, they usually lack the charm of PV, which is what we are attracted to. New construction is just about everywhere in PV, so having a building project across the road didn't seem personally impacting. We will definitely stay here again and refer this unit to friends that visit PV.

(One other thing...when people come to PV, they shouldn't expect cell, internet or cable service to be as reliable as that in the US or Canada. I did have a work project with a deadline that required the internet and I was able to accomplish my delivery.)

Also, the complex staff were very pleasant and helpful! Thanks again!

mostly disappointed

  • 2 of 5

We stayed 12 nights at Villa Blanca. What we did appreciate about the condo building (which is nice) was Jose Luis, the concierge. Always pleasant & available to answer questions & take care of any issues. For instance the fridge leaked water & the TV setup didn't work. He got a repair guy there quickly. The owners didn't respond at all to our call or even follow up to see if we got it taken care of. Also Angelina, the cleaning lady was wonderful. Other than that, in no particular order... the bed was extremely hard and the pillows flat and hard. NOT a comfortable sleep. The ceiling fans were great, really silent. The place didn't feel clean when we got there. Floor smelled fishy. (Jesus mopped it immediately for us) Also a permanent smell from under the sink. (maybe the raid cans?) We found clothes left in the drawers. The place was not really clean. Was better once Angelina was in. Still needs a THOROUGH going over. The kitchen - ample, if old, utensils, pots, dishes, coffee maker etc. It would have been nice to have supplied some basic items such as salt/pepper, saran wrap, paper towels etc. (coffee filters were the only thing) A big filtered water jug/dispenser is supplied and replaced when empty. The living area couches are hard and not comfortable to hang out on. No armrest and the pillows fall off. The little terrace was nice to sit out on.... however...The most dismaying thing was the endless construction noise across the street. We were lead to believe the major stuff was finished. Maybe it was but the workers start at 7:45 am & finish around 5:30-6, six days a week. Throughout the day was drilling, rebar clanging, pounding. On top of that at different times of day loud music beating up from the beach clubs. It was not the peaceful oasis desired for a holiday. Unfortunately we did get sick with stomach issues which did have us being there more than expected. (hence the TV) Who knows from what, but as a precaution don't use tap water to brush teeth! Okay... the outdoor grill on the upper terrace was disgusting and obviously not used. The "water sports gear" was filthy and the beach chairs old and rusty! - The beach was not for us. Packed with umbrella chairs and people. A nice 15 min walk took us to pretty Conchas Chinas beach. All too rough(at the time) for swimming. The area has old charm and lots of great restaurants. The people are great.

Interesting area in Puerto Vallarta!

  • 3 of 5

Casa Tucan condo is in the interesting Romantica zone of Puerto Vallarta. The treck up and down the hill made for good daily exercise! Our three week stay was somewhat marred by the construction of a new building right beside Villa Blanca but this was out of the control of the owners of the condo. Casa Tucan was very well equipped with everything one needed in the kitchen. The rooms were spacious and well furnished. The two showers were an added feature, especially if there were more than two people in the condo. The owners made every effort to inform us about places to dine, where to grocery shop, and how to enjoy the beach area. The building manager is a gem of a guy as is the daily maid. Our three star rating is only a reflection of the daily construction that made for a less than relaxing three weeks vacation. Hopefully, on a returning visit, we will be able to enjoy Casa Tucan to the fullest degree.

Rob and Dan and the staff took great care of us!

  • 4 of 5

Besides this being a central apartment near Los Muertos Beach, it's quiet and green. And the staff - the "concierge" and la senora who cleaned - helped us out all the time - finding taxis, cleaning only when it was good for us, with water refills, and our general questions about the area, etc. It just felt so nice to have someone to speak to when you're a little unsure how things work. And the lovely green space and peacefulness of the apartment was a treat! Thanks, Rob and Dan. You were helpful and kind...

Villa Blanca and Casa Tucan a delightful discovery!

  • 5 of 5

My stay at Casa Tucan again solidifies why VRBO continues to be an amazing resource for the smart traveler! I could not have been more pleased with the friendly and helpful staff as well as owner Rob, who was beyond helpful and gracious in assisting me with a last minute booking. Casa Tucan really ended up feeling like home away from home, with plenty of space (especially for a single traveler) and a really lovely patio from which one can hear the ocean breeze. The onsite wading pool was a wonderful place to spend an afternoon or two, and the proximity to the beach and every amenity could not have been better. A definite recommendation for a stay!
