Darling cottage

  • 5 of 5

The home was so comfortable and a short walk from Douglas Beach. The screened in porch was wonderful and the landscaping was lovely! We enjoyed seeing the deer on our walks. We made several quick drives to visit Saugatuck. The kids loved the free concert at Wicks Park on Wednesday evening. We also loved spending a day at Oval Beach. I would definitely reccomend to my family and friends!

Comfortable, Neat, Homey

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the Douglas cottage several times in the past when there was a different owner. This was the first stay with new owner. We were worried that it would not be the same. It was the same wonderful, welcoming cottage it always has been and maybe even better. The cottage is exceptionally clean and well stocked from kitchen supplies to beach towels to toiletries. It is so comfortable we instantly feel at home and Brett is prompt in addressing any questions. It is walking distance to lake and perfect location for taking walks along Lake Shore Dr. We will be back!

Beautiful, Charming and Perfectly Appointed!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in this very charming cottage in the Fall of 2015 for a mini honeymoon. I then brought my best girlfriends for a visit this past week, as I had so loved my stay before in this beautiful home away from home. It is so perfectly appointed with everything you need to have a joyful and relaxing time at the lake, beach chairs, towels and even bicycles! I especially love the decor! The patio and the screened in porch were two of my favorite spots to have a cup of tea or a glass of wine! One night we saw deer walking across the front lawn! Simply magical! Thank you for a wonderful visit!

Just as lovely the second time around

  • 5 of 5

This is my second stay in this home, and I failed to write a review last year, so this one is more comprehensive to make up for it!

While I agree that 'cottage feel' does describe this home, it comes without that musty smell (lol) and the dark confined rooms I think of when someone uses the word cottage. The rooms are bright, sunny and airy, painted light colors and decorated with locally themed decor and comfortable furniture. Beds are super comfy. The enclosed front porch is lovely for coffee or cocktails (we did both!) and out back there's an open brick patio with more seating, a gas grill and a fire pit. The yard is landscaped beautifully but still has ample green space out front to throw a ball around.

Many amenities are provided - soap, shampoo and conditioner, dish soap, dishwasher soap, etc., and were well stocked both visits. There are also basic provisions - coffee, sugar, oil/spray to cook with, condiments, and a great selection of spices. wifi that was easy to log onto.

The location is indeed fantastic. We walked to the beach (make sure you catch a sunset over the lake - amazing!), walked along the lake for a couple miles, we even walked to the Chain Ferry in Saugatuck and took it across the Kalamazoo River into downtown Saugatuck. There's a grocery store conveniently nearby, and of course, all the shops, restaurants and galleries that call Douglas and Saugatuck home.

We love it here. If you are looking for comfortable space with everything you need in Douglas, this is where I would send you. It's obvious as you settle in and look around that the owner is detail oriented and truly cares about this property and the guest experience.

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This lovely home provided us a perfect getaway. The weather didn't cooperate, but the house was a cozy and comfortable place to come home to. Everything we needed was there to make the stay a memorable one.
