Lodgepole Pine House is a very special custom built home- not the typical vacation rental.
Wow! Epic weekend. 2 families with 4 total kids stayed for 3 nights. Anne, the owner, was incredibly responsive and enabled us to rent the house at the last minute. The layout of the house is PERFECT for large groups. We were essentially able to share the main floor living space and then each family occupied a floor for sleeping. The house is less than 10 minutes form Sugar Bowl, where we skied for 3 days. The house is so well done and comfortable, but not so "fancy" that it doesn't feel livable. We will definitely rent again!!!
Just returned having stayed at Lodgepole Pine from a long weekend skiing and couldn't have been happier with our stay. The house is beautifully designed with a great layout - the large open living area on the second level was the perfect place to hang out after a long day skiing. Will definitely be back.
We have returned to the Lodgepole Pine house several years in a row now. It's very easy to get to from SF and is super comfortable for 3 families with young children to relax and have fun. The kids love the loft- and we love the open floor plan on the main floor. Plenty of bathrooms, heated floors, and well stocked kitchen. Very clean and comfortable- and even has yoga mats. Can easily ski to Royal Gorge, and it's just 5 minutes to Sugar Bowl, or 30 to Heavenly. And if anything comes up, questions or otherwise, Anne is a pleasure to communicate with and very accessible. We've always come up in the winter, but I imagine it would be lovely in summer as well. The place has 3 decks and wonderful outdoor space.
This was the second time that I've stayed in Lodgepole Pine House (LPH), and it was better than ever. The house is beautifully designed, and it's furnished and fully stocked with everything needed for a comfortable and fun stay. The large, open living space (kitchen, dining, living and library) are perfect for even a large group to cook, eat and relax together. The house backs unto a beautiful forest that was recently thinned to reduce fire hazards -- now one can see through the trees to the sunset and more light reaches the house.
Astonishingly lovely place, comfortable, beautifully furnished and finished. Only complaint is that the exteriors of the other houses (with few exceptions) aren't up to Lodgepole's standards. The site is also quite choice, looking from the back to the forest and no other houses.
We had the BEST time ever in this beautiful, architecturally unique, and warm, spacious home. We have stayed many times in the area, but Serene Lakes is very special and the Lodgepole Pine House is hands above anyplace else we have ever rented. There were 13 of us and we all slept comfortably and never felt crowded. We started every day with a walk around the lake or a long hike taken from one of the many hiking books on the shelves, came home to eat lunch in the well-stocked kitchen, rode the bikes provided to the lake to swim and kayak in the warm water. We would then return and cook up elaborate meals on the BBQ and in the kitchen that has every gadget a cook could wish for! It was great how we could all comfortably fit around the big table, where we ate and laughed for hours, followed by playing games on the porch. Everything in the home was of such quality; my daughters especially liked the herbal shampoos and soaps. Anne was very responsive to any questions that we had, and we all agree we have forever been spoiled and will never be satisfied staying in any other cabin. We can't wait to come back!
