Perfect place for a weekend stay! Check-in process was clear and easy. Ample parking out front, and room was clean and as described. Only thing that would have made it perfect was a bath mat in front of the shower - it was a bit slippery on exit! I would definitely stay here again!

The building felt outdated and wasn’t quite as the pictures portrayed, but the room was a comfortable size and served its purpose for my solo trip. The price was fair, and the location made it easy to walk to Asbury Park, Ocean Grove’s boardwalk, and plenty of restaurants. The bathroom offered good space, though the shower itself was very tight.

The room is small and the place is worn, though maintained and clean. Not very romantic. Location is great and the price was right.

A perfect spot for a romantic getaway! One block from the beach, walking distance to great spots in Asbury, perfect location for long walks on the boardwalk. The B&B was clean, offered great wifi, clean towels, coffee and a microwave, easy check in, and the host was prompt in their responses to inquiries. We had such a great time we asked to extend our stay and they were more than gracious to accommodate. Thank you Melrose! Well be back!

Another great stay at the Melrose

This is our third stay at the Melrose in this particular room. It is perfect for my teenage daughter and I. Spacious, clean, very comfortable bed and linens, location is great. Easy walk to town. Easy walk to Asbury. 20 minute drive to Long Branch. Lots of parking. Really just great!!!

Great find

Perfectly spotless and tidy, with everything you need. There is a coffee setup and microwave in the lobby. Sheila was very quick to respond when there was a minor check-in snafu. A great find, especially for short stays at the beautiful Jersey Shore.

Solo trip

This was my first time to the Jersey Shore. I was meeting friends for a concert at Stone Pony. The venue was amazing!!! I enjoyed my stay at the Melrose. It was a great location with plenty to do in the area, great restaurants etc, i appreciated the 1st floor since i had a foot injury. The stairs were a little steep but I managed. Overall was a great stay with no complaints! Definitely would stay here again!

Fabulous long weekend get-away

Fabulous stay at this immaculate bed and bath! We stayed in room 1C which was spacious, very comfortable, and pristine. The bathroom was fabulous, newly renovated, and very comfortable. The mini fridge and freezer in the room was a nice convenience, as was the coffee bar in the front hallway. The keyless entry front door and room doors are very convenient too. Although it's not a bed and "breakfast," a short walk into town provides many breakfast options and it's ideal location on a quiet dead-end street with plenty of parking makes The Melrose a terrific option.

Beach House

We enjoyed our stay, was as described, clean, and adequate was easy to find free parking. I would say the communication was OK. But they always eventually got back to us. It just took about an hour or so. Thank you

Coming from Seattle, it never occurred to me that parking in Asbury Park/Ocean Grove would be a nightmare - as there is no warning of this in the property description. Also, if you were to OfferUp the entire room of furniture, including the TV, you might get $100. At least the bed was comfortable.

A little getaway

The place, as well as our room, was clean and inviting. It was a great location, 2 blocks from beach/boardwalk. Founder's Park at the end of the street. Short walk across the bridge into Asbury Park. Weekends parking was a little tricky. Enjoyed the front porch. Only bad comment I can say was the light fixture on the front porch was a little low for my husband's 6'5" height. He banged his head about 15 times during our stay. Otherwise we will definitely be back again!!husband

Adequate, but underwhelming

I wanted something nice, by the beach, for my daughter and myself at a reasonable price. Perhaps I am suffering from being timeshare spoiled. From the pictures, I thought the room would have been bigger. There was a refrigerator in the room, but the microwave was communal and down the hall. We were charged for beach badges, although at a discounted rate.

Great location, no frills

This listing is in an excellent location. It’s on a lovely street just a couple of blocks from the Ocean Grove beach. The room itself is bright and pleasant. It is a bit tight, especially for two people. But perfectly fine if you’re not spending much time in the unit. It has a window AC unit which provides good coverage. There is a television on top of the dresser but it would be difficult to watch it from the bed and not particularly comfortable from the couch (unless you moved it). Getting in the front door to the building is a little tight if you are larger or have a lot of luggage.

This room is marketed as "romantic". It is not. It is a basic, standard room with views of close buildings next door. Lobby is dated with old carpet. Coffee set up at entry is thrown together and messy. The furniture in the room is newish, but very standard issue. There is no parking and street parking is extremely limited (to be expected for the area). "Check in" was easy with a code for front door and room door emailed day of. Main upside is that it is a one block walk to the beach. Despite the great location, I found the price point high for the condition of the property.
