  • Fantastic location for a great vacation!

"We were impressed with Denise's beach house from the moment we walked in. It's decorated beautifully and has a very warm, welcoming feel. We told her right away, "this is the nicest rental home we've ever stayed in." She had everything we needed, including lots of great toys for our 10-month old son. That was helpful when he got bored with the few toys we packed! Denise was also extremely helpful and available to answer any questions we had. The location is great - we were able to easily bike to Island Beach State Park and walk to the beach on the ocean side. The playground on the bay side beach (also easily walkable - just a few blocks away) was a lot of fun for our little guy. We appreciated being in a peaceful location with very easy access to everything (including the boardwalk amusements a short drive away). The view from the front porch is fantastic. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets every night! This shore house was definitely a great find! Thanks, Denise!!"

  • Immaculate gem of a house

"We stayed in this great, immaculate gem of a house for a week in August. The owner could not have been nicer and more helpful. We couldn't get one of the porch umbrellas to close and he came over immediately to fix it. He has obviously taken great care to insure that your stay will be very enjoyable. The house is incredibly well maintained and has everything you could possibly need. The living room opens into the kitchen, which has an island, so everyone is in the same room while you are cooking. The large TV and incredible steero system were great additions, and we enjoyed listening to music while relaxing and cooking. There are 2 large sliding doors in the living room, and plenty of skylights all through the house, so there is a lot of natural lilght. The beds were very comfortable and the washer and dryer were huge, perfect for family loads of wash. There is a great wrap around deck with an outdoor grill, picnic table and lounge seating, and another deck on the roof with another picnic table. It was so enjoyable to eat out there and relax on the breezy summer nights. The house is air conditioned and also has ceiling fans, so we were incredibly comfortable in the intense heat of this past week. There is a great outdoor shower with a mirror and dressing area that we used almost exclusively. The beach is a block away, and the owner provides beach badges. The beach was beautiful and large enough that you don't feel crowded. You are also very close to several minature golf places, plenty of great restaurants and ice cream stores, great location. If you don't mind a short drive, we recommend Harvey Cedars Seafood for a really great meal. Go early as it gets packed. We really loved staying in this home, and will come back here again when we vacation in Surf City. Thank you Roger and Helen for a wonderful family vacation!"

  • Down by the Bay - week of relaxation

"My boyfriend's family and I (6 adults, 1 baby) stayed in the bottom apartment for a week in June. The weather was wonderful, the bay was warm and beautiful, and the apartment was fantastic! There is a spacious master bedroom with its own bathroom (plus - two sinks, large shower!) and a king size bed (very comfortable - bring your own sheets and blanket). Then there are 3 rooms on the other side of the kitchen (the separation was nice), 2 having a queen size bed and 1 having a queen and a twin along with another bathroom with a tub. The kitchen had every utensil, dish, misc item (including a junk drawer) that you needed and the dishwasher made clean up so much easier. There was also a washer/dryer in the wet bar area which was perfect for towels and bathing suits after days hanging by the bay or beach. The apartment also has a little bit of a larger balcony (waist high enclosed with glass) than the upstairs apartment that has a table/chairs and a grill. We spent a lot of time out there with a beautiful breeze (no bugs when it's breezy but bring some spray for still nights) and a wonderful view of the bay and all of its activity. Beach badges for Ship Bottom were provided (8) and the drive over the bridge was quick and easy! You can drive the other way for access to a WalMart for any grocery needs, also. If bringing a mobile baby, I would suggest bringing a baby gate as the stairs just lead directly into the apartment. The views from the living area on the opposite side of the living room are beautiful with green marshland and more water activity (also a pair of binoculars!). We didn't get around to it but there are a few local areas that offer kayak and jetski rentals and there is a dock that the owner rents out for this use. We would definitely stay here again, what a great week!"

  • A relaxing retreat from city life

"On the day before we left, one of our 5 year old twins turned to me and said, "Mama, can we stay here forever?" Karen has a beautiful home that we loved. We spent our mornings and early afternoons on the beach, the splash playground, and walking around Asbury park, and returned around 4 pm to cook dinner outside in the beautifully appointed outdoor kitchen/BBQ area while the kids played on the lawn or had a squirt gun battle. The kitchen had every thing we could possibly think of, which made cooking an absolute pleasure. I burn everything on an electric stove, so I happily cooked outside on the grill's gas burner rather than torching breakfast. After putting the kids to bed, we relaxed with margaritas in the hot tub. Karen was responsive by text when we had questions, and we returned to NYC rejuvenated and refreshed. Thanks, Karen!"
