About this property
Beautiful Victorian Lake Front Estate
Renovated in 2004, built in 1887 Victorian estate, nestled on 5 acres of magnificent, Lake Ontario shoreline provides modern structural technologies while maintaining its historical appearance down to the last detail. This hidden treasure will provide tranquility and peace of mind for you and your family.
Throw large summertime parties or enjoy quiet moments to relax and sunbathe by this 20’ by 40’ in-ground heated pool with a magnificent view of the lake. The concrete deck is framed by brickwork walls, and a staircase ascending to the veranda. A loop-top wrought-iron fence completely encloses the pool area for security.
Step through the main entrance onto the Italian marble of the grand foyer, and be greeted by tradition, elegance and whimsy. Elaborate crown moldings and raised-panel wainscotting and doors are illuminated by period wall sconces and an elegant chandelier. A delightful mix of rope twist, twisted flute, and plain balusters line the grand oak staircase, and are capped by a lustrous cherrywood handrail.
Thoroughly insulated walls and ceilings are covered by insect- and fire-retardant cement fiber clapboard siding, and a Lifetime 24-gage standing seam steel roof. All interior walls have been sound-deadened, and all floor joists have been replaced with Silent Floor truss system.
The elegant kitchen features a spacious floor plan with plenty of room for entertaining. The custom cabinets hand-crafted in Tiger Maple with rare Crotch Mahogany panels are set off by the slate countertops and hand-etched backsplash and trim. The custom breakfast table enjoys a lovely view of the grounds sloping to the orchard and lakeshore.
The dining room has a textured tin ceiling, Murano glass chandelier, and ornate crown moldings cap this spacious dining room, which features a large table with matching buffet and china hutch, and chairs. Formal dinner parties will be as intimate as family meals with the gas fireplace.
In the living room you will find a rich Oriental carpet over gleaming hardwood flooring and the textured ceiling and wainscotting harken back to simpler times. Gather around the large ornate fireplace with original andirons and cooking pot arm, framed by the stately carved mantelpiece. Enjoy warm conversation, your favorite show, or a view down to the lake, while relaxing on the cozy furniture.
The chess room/study is a quiet refuge for reading, having a thoughtful game of strategy or relaxing with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.
Master bedroom has large Anderson low E glass windows keep you cozy year-round, but open to catch the cool summer lake breezes. A crystal chandelier hangs from the plaster appliquéd ceiling, illuminating the bed and the lustrous hardwood floors. Ensuite bathroom has a full bathroom with italian marble floor, claw foot tub with air jets, double sinks and a shower.
In the second floor you will find 4 bedrooms, two full bathrooms and a recreation room furnished with Oriental carpet, sofa and large plasma television.
Three columned porches, one in the front, another one in the back and one in the second floor features a weathersealed wood floor and comfortable furniture. The northern exposure offers cool relief during hot summer days. The ones in the back command a view of the swimming pool, orchard, and lakeshore in the distance.
The house also has a central vacuum, newtone speaker system throughout, and WiFi access.
As part of the original estate, the ice house was built to store blocks of ice cut right from Lake Ontario. This sturdy outbuilding is currently configured as a kennel and extra storage space.
