About Patty McCain

I have owned the townhouse since 1994. I grew up in Northern Cal & LOVED being able to escape to the beautiful Lake Tahoe basin in both the summer (for camping and hiking) and in the winter (for the best downhill skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and cc skiing in the world!!). Tahoe is the best place to have fun & inner peace all in one place!

Patty McCain purchased this townhome in 1994

Why Patty McCain chose Tahoe Village

I bought the townhouse because it is in the ideal location for skiing in serene Heavenly Nevada in the winter and taking amazing hikes along the Rim Trail that runs through the ski resort in the summer. The views from the top of the mountain are breathtaking---desert on one side and that beautiful deep blue water on the other. The townhouse is great in all seasons and I love the space to entertain all of my friends---especially with the hot tub on the deck amidst the majestic pines.

What makes this townhome unique

The location to the Heavenly Nevada skiing with the serenity of being at the top of the mountain coupled with being able to be at lake level in 12 minutes to gamble, swim, shop, eat, and play makes this a great property to rent. Having a lot of bedrooms (4) means you can bring along a lot of friends and perfect for family reunions!

It’s a cozy home in a very convenient location.

  • 5 of 5

We rented the property for a skiing weekend to Heavenly. The bus stop is right in front of the building and we only waited for 3 min. But coming back the same shuttles won’t take us and wanted us to wait for number 23 which took over 30 min. But we discovered that it’s only a 15 min walk to stagecoach. So if you don’t have ski equipment it’s very easy to just walk back.

Dirty, run down, tired

  • 1 of 5

So bad my family and I would not stay and we went to a hotel. We showed up before it was ready as it was being "cleaned". We knew at that point we were in trouble. In fairness, we came back after it was "cleaned". I have many pictures to prove my case that this unit is horrible. The bathroom downstairs has rusted shower frames, stained floors and generally looks like it came from a prison cell. The carpet throughout the unit is badly stained and ripped in places. Dust and dirt on tables, old food inside the dishwater door. I could go on but I have pictures to prove it. The pictures on the rental site misrepresent this unit and I have no idea how the reviews could be what they are. I am suspicious for sure. The hot tub is actually right by the front door and has to be locked because it is literally right next to the sidewalk used by all the residents on the condo. Zero privacy contra to the pictures. Yes, it was dirty too. The beds are rock hard and I believe the Flintstone family would throw them out. I intend to attempt to get my money back. THIS PLACE WAS SO BAD I WALKED AWAY FROM MY FULL RENT RATHER THAN STAY HERE! I plan to get that back.

Great location, difficult stairs

  • 4 of 5

Loved this house. It slept all 9 of the people who went on the trip with room to spare. The kitchen had all of the necessary supplies for cooking easy dinners. There was a technical glitch with my app and I didn't receive the front door lock code before trying to check in, but the property manager was responsive and got back to us immediately.

The only downside (and the reason I'm not giving 5 stars) was the 3 flights of stairs you had to climb to get from the parking lot to the lower sliding door were COVERED in snow and ice. Tahoe had a crazy high snow season this year, and it was obvious that no one in the building had shoveled any of the snow. It was deep and really icy. Luckily everyone in my group was 23-25 years old and had no problem climbing up them. I did take a shovel from downstairs and shovel a good amount off though.

Comfortable home, many stairs

  • 4 of 5

The lodge had everything you needed, the stay was convenient with the space, location, and amenities. Be prepared to use to up many flights, wasn't easy in the snow but it plowed-cant control the weather anyhow. Must note that the front door is one of the bed rooms and from there living room is 2 flights up. The lodge had board games and working tv so we all had a great time inside away from the cold!

Comfortable & convenient to Stagecoach lift

  • 4 of 5

House was comfortable and right next to a stop for the local shuttle which is a 5 minute drive to the Stagecoach lift. There are 3 double beds and 2 bunkbeds, would be very comfortable for three couples with a few kids. I assume the couch folds out for more sleeping space although we didn't use it. Good value compared to other places in the area. Hot tub is small and quite exposed right on the front deck next to the steps and over the street. The kids enjoyed it.

Perfect Location for Skiing at Heavenly

  • 4 of 5

We were very happy to stay at this property, although we pushed the limits on the number of people. We had 10 total, which was kind of tight. I think it can comfortably sleep 8, or 10 if a few small children are in there. Due to the steep grade the condo is built on, the layout of the place is a challenge; it's narrow and tall (4 stories including the loft) and you have to pass through one of the bedrooms to get to the main living area. There wasn't enough room in the common area for us all to sit down to dinner, which, again, makes this place more suited to 8 people in my opinion. Also the closet in the bottom bedroom is locked, so there's nowhere to hang clothes there.

The kitchen was well appointed with plenty of cookware, plates, and even some spices and things, most likely left over by other renters (we contributed, too). I slept on the bed in the loft, which was very comfy thanks to a miracle foam pad. It must be said that the decor is about two decades old and the mismatched sheets, towels, etc. made it feel a bit downmarket. But, it was an excellent value for the price. The hot water was REALLY hot, the hot tub on the back (front?) porch was really nice to soothe sore muscles at the end of a day of skiing, so from that respect, it was great. My kids really enjoyed the nice reclining couches in the cozy living room area.

Thanks to Patty for allowing us to stay here; we enjoyed our visit.
