Had a great time!!

  • 4 of 5

We (six of us and two dogs) had a wonderful time at the condo and in Prescott. Plenty of room and well appointed. Other than an afternoon

at The Palace Saloon on Whiskey Row (a must !!!) we spent most of our time on the back deck enjoying the weather and location. Other than

food and booze, everything you need is there!! Even a two car garage!. Would love to go back!

Poor maintenance, rude owner, cute place

  • 2 of 5

I rented the condo for 5 nights but only stayed 4 nights after a series of things going wrong. When we arrived in the late afternoon, it was over 90 degrees outside and the air conditioning in the main condo was set for 85. It took 15 hours (yes, the next day) for it to cool down inside. It was stifling. We thought it was broken and when the owner sent an A/C guy out the next morning, he was upset with us because nothing was wrong. I will say that the air in the downstairs unit/casita was great. The front door has a code on it and it was very hard to get open - it was frustrating. On the 4th night, the smoke alarm upstairs started going off at 3am and wouldn't stop. The ceiling was so high, we had to call the fire department to come and stop it. They said the alarm had never been maintained from the looks of it - that they were all over 10 years old and out of code. We tried calling the maintenance man but he didn't answer or call back. After this, we decided to leave to get a partial refund. Some of our money was returned. The place is cute and has a very nice patio. We were able to bring our dog which was nice also.

The owner, and I quote, said, "You have the distinction of having been the worst rental ever. It must be very difficult for people like you to make your way through this world so lacking in common sense." And I'll leave you with that. Hope nothing goes wrong if you rent the place.

Owner's Response: I am so glad that this guest decided to write this review. I have had nothing but complaints from her since before she rented the place that my instinct told me not to rent to her but I did nonetheless. I hope other property owners read the following "other side of the story" and take heed. DO NOT RENT TO THIS GUEST. YOU WILL ONLY BE INVITING MISERY UPON YOURSELF. First, prior to renting the place to this guest, I fielded several phone calls asking about things that are already stated in the VRBO posting. I nonetheless was polite and responsive. That said, after I accepted the booking, this guest called 3x during the work day and I did not immediately answer my phone and she left a voice mail after which she immediately filed complaints with VRBO that I was unresponsive. Upon her arrival, the house had been closed up for a week. It was, admittedly warm. The instructions in the renters manual that state that, should that occur, open a window on the top floor of the house to let the hot air out. When I called her back, she screamed at me and demanded that the air conditioning was malfunctioning. She screamed at my neighbor also. I finally acquiesced and called an HVAC contractor to make an emergency call (at my cost) who found there was nothing wrong with the AC. Even the service tech suggested that had they opened a window the warm air would escaped the house within 20-30 minutes. Ironically, she complained to the HVAC tech that the house got too cold overnight. Thereafter, I got daily texts with minor gripes. Also, her daughter walked off with a set of keys and what should she do. Finally, according to the fire department with whom I spoke after she called them out to the house, the smoke detector was signalling that the battery needed to be changed. This evidently went down at 4 am and, like most people, I was sleeping at the time she called and screamed into my voice mail. Regardless, when the smoke detector went off and there were no flames and there was no smoke, she decided to call the fire department rather than waive something at the smoke detector as one who lives in a home with smoke detectors would probably do. Yes, in the end I was probably more rude than I should have been and for that I am sorry. When renting through VRBO, you are renting a house, not a hotel. They have quirks. I have had great rental experiences and reviews from many other great renters that one must consider the source when considering this one.

Cool Pines

  • 5 of 5

The townhouse was perfect for a girls get away weekend. We had plenty of room to spread out, relax in the cool mornings and evenings on the deck, and enjoyed the comfortable beds. We enjoyed the decor and the sense of humor of the owners as evidenced in the booklet of instructions! We would consider returning to this lovely setting. The location was great for just about anything you wanted to do.

One small warning to someone with ambulation problems: There are some steep stairs to enter the home and to reach two of the three bedrooms. It was no problems for us--even with our luggage.

Wonderful family reunion in Prescott

  • 4 of 5

The property was in an excellent location, it was very clean, well equipped and nicely decorated. It was wonderful to know that we were in a gated community where we felt very safe. The owners were very responsive.

The property was not without it's issues to consider when renting. To get to the main floor there were lots of narrow and steep steps to take plus another set of steps to the upstairs two bedrooms...not ideal for anyone who is elderly or who have disabilities with walking. The sidewalk into the casita was not level making it difficult to walk on for anyone with disabilities. The shower we used only had luke warm water and there was no soap which seems to be provided in most places that we stay.

Overall I would recommend friends or relatives staying there if the steps didn't pose a problem.
