A Magical 25thWe’ve just returned from Casa Mariposa and a week was about a month too short. What a beautiful villa, in an utterly idyllic setting. Every comfort has been considered. The chefs kitchen. Lounging by that glorious pool. Pristine landscaping. Every view is stunning. The way the light flows through every room and exterior space is spell binding. Complete privacy save for the multitude of birds and howlers making themselves know at dawn and twilight. There truly aren’t enough superlatives.Tom and Christine, thank you as always…there’s a reason we keep returning to the Jaguar fold, your warm welcome and professional management are simply the best. Our stay at Casa Mariposa was perfect! The villa is beautiful and very well maintained. Jaguar Property Management is well organized and offered us concierge services with Carole, as well as several car rental options, which really helped us plan our trip.We booked the chef service for a full day for my birthday, and also enjoyed the Lotus Spa service that came directly to the house.The view from the villa is breathtaking, and it’s so well equipped that you won’t miss a thing!Rent it, you won’t be disappointed!

Honeymoon in paradise

This was the perfect mix for us of privacy and resort style accommodations. Our hosts had a lot of amazing advice and put us in contact with an expedition company who made all our arrangements. The view is spectacular, even when it's raining. It's open air living in the jungle without the hassle of crowds. We saw parrots, toucans, and a coati just from our yard.

35th Anniversary Trip

As always, Tom and Christine, do a great job and getting you set up for a great time! The house was as listed and described! We did a whale watching tour and saw five whales and had a masseuse out to give my wife a massage and she said it was excellent. Incredible Coastal Getaway

We had a once in a lifetime experience here. The house will make you feel like you’re the star of your own movie. Pristine architecture nestled in the jungle with ocean views, beautiful landscaping and a refreshing pool. The drive up to the house does require a 4x4 and we found it to be quite fun! Tom and Christine are exceptional hosts; their communication was great and they will tee you up with an abundance of resources to ensure you make the most of your time in Uvita and the surrounding area. dream House

We spent a memorable week in Casa Mariposa. A magnificent house with well-spent architecture and lots of windows allowing light to pass through, with all modern conveniences. A superb view over the valley and the sea. The pool was beautiful and allowed us to cool off at all times. It was nice to fall asleep to the sounds of the night and wake up to the songs of birds and the cries of howler monkeys. We were able to admire multiple toucans around the villa. There is also a path on the property allowing a small excursion in the forest which we appreciated. We felt very safe in this house. The cleaning hour per day, included in the rental price, was great. Thanks to Tom and Christine for helping us out and finding a rental car. They are very professional and friendly. We intend to go back….

How to make an excellent place even better

It is definitely not easy to make an excellent place even better - but it is possible, as we experienced in Casa Mariposa.The most important aspect is the first class care the managers Christine and Tom offered us. They seem to be everywhere at any time. No problem appeared that they could not solve within shortest time. Furthermore they gave us at least 1000 advices, what to explore, so see, to experience in Uvita area. They are just great, behaving like good friends.The house is perfectly cared of and maintained at any time. In the bedrooms, the closets, the kitchen, outside… at any place you find all devices you could ever need. Every time we stay in Mariposa, we are glad to see that all the equipment is steadily improved in first class style.The place is far away from everything - and this is perfect, with a great view to the ocean and the mountains as a priceless extra. We will definitely return, everything else would be stupid.

A flowering piece of heaven

High up in the mountains we found our little piece of heaven above Uvita, surrounded by exploding nature with all sorts of birds, wild animals of all kinds... and yes, we had mariposas, too. We enjoyed every minute of our stay in deep tranquility, fascinated by what happened around us. Who do people walk for miles to see nature - here your big show comes to you... The house is super modern and equipped with all sorts of devices you can ever wish. While we spent our holidays there we made a further booking for 2025. This may give a hint to our opinion of this place. If we could we would give a sixth star for the hosts, Christine and Tom. Whatever unexpected happened - they were at our side, showing more than good will and creativity to help us - even during outages of electricity or internet connection, which was for away from their responsibility. To find managers and friends like them you have to search for a long long time...

Beautiful Property in a great location

We just completed a two week stay at Casa Mariposa and had a wonderful stay. The house is conveniently located 10 mins south of Uvita and close to our favorite beach Playa Ventanas. While you should have a 4x4 to get up to the house, the roads to the house are in very good condition and much faster and easier to travel than many of the places we have previously stayed. The house has a great modern vibe with wonderful views of the southern coast. The kitchen is very well equipped and we spent most nights cooking/barbecuing at home and enjoying dinner and music by the pool and deck. We had a couple minor mishaps during our stay and Tom and Christine responded immediately and got everything squared away. They couldn't have been more helpful. October is a great time of year to visit. It is not as busy as the Dec-Mar period and the moderate cloud cover really helps when you want to spend the day at the beach. The house is at an elevation that provides a great view, is cooler and a little less humid than properties closer to the beach. We enjoyed the daily visits by the Tucans, Macaws, hummingbirds and butterflies. The howler and capuchin monkeys were never far but it does take a little bit of effort to find them. I recommend spending some time looking at the tree tops with the binoculars in the early mornings and just prior to sunset. Costa Rica is a magical place and you won't find a better place to enjoy it.

Soggiorno fantastico a Mariposa

La villa si trova a 12 minuti di auto dalla bellissima Playa Ballena . Fa parte di una grandissima proprietà con altre ville molto distanti l una dall altra che a malapena si intravvedono . Qui , a parte il grande giardino curato perfettamente , si è immersi nella foresta La strada per arrivarci e a tratti ripida ma ben tenuta, ci vuole un 4x4 , ma e fattibile ( noi abbiamo 70 e 75 anni anche se molto molto attivi..) e ci si abitua subito . La villa e stupenda e molto centrale per visitare i dintorni con la propria auto o fare dei Tours . Bella piscina a sfioro , grande panorama , tramonti e albe ( non tirate le tende di notte , L Alba e bellissima ! )C e una casetta del guardiano all entrata e ci si sente sicuri . La casa e attrezzatissima ( vedere la cucina per credere ) e arredata con gran gusto , molto design ! Nei dintorni ci sono spiagge deserte bellissime e tante cose da vedere Gran bella esperienza !

Our stay at Casa Mariposa was phenomenal. The house is absolutely beautiful, very comfortable, super clean, and the kitchen is well equipped. Love the decor and hand carved furniture! The master bedroom has ac, but we didn't need to use it during our stay. Such a peaceful, private and serene spot, still close to lots of tours, shops and restaurants, Uvita is an easy 15-20 minute drive. Favorite tours are the Nauyaca Falls horseback tour, and Ventanas Cave boat tour...we even spotted a Bryde's Whale! Favorite restaurant is Exotica. View of the ocean and jungle is incredible, grounds are beautifully manicured, and we really enjoyed the private trail down to the creek. Spent most every afternoon floating in the pool after our morning outings, loved being able to cook dinner on the BBQ grill. Had a jungle rain one evening and enjoyed the lightning show on the horizon. Nice to have a gated community and on-site caretaker (who was completely respectful of our privacy), we felt very safe and secure. His wife was available for a little daily cleaning, which was much appreciated. Jaguar Property Management (Christine and Tom) gave us detailed directions and info, met us in town, took us to the house and helped us with rental car and our tours...super nice and helpful. We plan on coming back here next year and staying longer!

Not The Best Choice For Us

If you want a peaceful home way off the beaten path, this is the home for you. Online description implies A/C, but only master and main living area had A/C. Very, very long drive up into the mountains, having to pass thru a padlocked gate that has to be manually unlocked, opened, closed and then re-padlocked. Not very inviting. Staff were very nice, house was nice, except for the lack of A/C in the other bedrooms. We ended up leaving this place early to rent another.

What a relaxing week in the rainforest! We woke early to the sound of the birds and enjoyed the views of the Osa while sipping local coffee. Our hosts Christine and Tom from Jaguar Management were fantastic....even took us up to the house in the dark when we arrived late. They delivered on everything and always had the answers to our questions. The house was perfectly set up to welcome us....at night! The next morning we were greeted by a pack of Howler Monkeys in the tree by the bedroom....nice alarm clock. Daylight reveals grounds around the house are lovingly maintained with everything from fruit trees, flowers, cacti to mature palms of all shapes and sizes. All around us primary jungle and animals galore. 4 Scarlet Macaws visited the almond tree and stayed for lunch. Pool, terrace and living spaces flow perfectly with breezes keeping everything cool....we never needed the AC. Having the caretaker couple (Wilson & Ivania) at the property was a great extra sense of security when we went out for the day/night. Ivania came to do cleaning and kept things immaculate. They live at the end of the driveway outside the gate and gave us all the privacy we could want. Gentle happy people. Had a hard time tearing ourselves away from the house to see other things. When we did, Jaguar did a great job helping us with booking day trips and were a solid source for local knowledge. Playa Ballena or Playa Arco at the bottom of the hill are fantastic. Not a person there most of the time just empty beach for walking and maybe a few surfers (check tides as the beaches practically vanishes at high tide). We loved Ballena Bistro at the bottom of the hill for lunch. Be sure to get a good 4X4 vehicle both for the road to the house as well as most other places you will want to visit. We have rented all around the world and this is by far one of the best maintained and managed houses we have visited. We will be back for sure and would recommend this experience to everyone looking for a jungle luxury experience. Thank you Christine and Tom for making it all happen...hasta luego.
