Hacienda Pinilla is a 4500 ranch that is situated on over 3 miles of pristine beach in Northern Guanacaste. Hacienda Pinilla is a gated community consisting of residential areas, a JW Marriott hotel, a private Beach Club and Spa, an equestrian center, 18 hole golf course, and acres and acres of beautiful natural greenspace. Casa Nibbana is located close to the golf course and minutes from both the JW Marriott and the wonderful swimming and surfing beaches.

Hacienda Pinilla has a private and manned entrance and is a 4500 ranch that is situated on over 3 miles of pristine beach, forest and jungle in Northwestern Guanacaste. Hacienda Pinilla is a gated community consisting of residential areas, a JW Marriott hotel, the private Hacienda Pinilla Beach Club and Spa, an equestrian center, 18-hole golf course, and acres and acres of beautiful natural greenspace. Casa Nibbana is located 3-6 minute drive to all of the Hacienda PInilla amenities like the Beach Club, the multiple swimming/surfing beaches, the golf course, and the JW Marriott. All on private roads and all with guest parking inside the beautiful development. There are 6 restaurants located in Hacienda Pinilla that are available for guests of Casa Nibbana.

Hacienda Pinilla has a state-of-the-art equestrian center, where horse rides can be arranged. It also boasts an 18-hole “Mike Young” golf course that has several holes that are on the ocean. Tennis courts are available as well as an indoor fitness center with up to date equipment. Hacienda Pinilla also has over 45 kilometers of trails throughout the working cattle ranch, forest, and coastline. Bikers of all levels can discover the true nature of Costa Rica on these run / bike trails. Expect to see monkeys, iguanas and lots of colorful birds along the bicycle and waking paths.

Casa Nibbana is a single-story home with classic Spanish architecture with of all the moderm comforts. It boasts an oversized great room with a high wood-beamed ceiling, Columbian terra-cotta floors and a fully equipped gourmet kitchen. Air conditioning is available in all of the bedrooms, if you wish to have ac in the great room please inquiry about pricing.

The master suite has its own two sink bathroom, walk-in closet and a King-sized canopy bed. Each of the 3 additional bedrooms has a private bathroom and closet. One offers a four-poster King-sized bed and the other two have 2 Queen-sized beds. Three bathrooms are beautifully decorated with Talavera local hand-made tiles and the fourth bathroom boasts a sleek and modern open shower concept, providing a spa-like experience in the comfort of your own space.

The home has a large covered terrace completely furnished for outdoor living and dining. Beautiful and tasteful art and antiques are found throughout the house. The terrace leads to a large private pool and Pergola that has a gas grill along with a table and seating.

Casa Nibbana not only comes with all of the kitchen wares that you would find in your home, but also all linens, beach towels, boogie boards, chairs to take to the ocean when you go along with coolers and toys for the little ones. We also offer three hybrid bikes for use during your stay.

The back covered terrace creates a wonderful refuge for morning coffee or happy hour drinks. It has a full sized table for dining, two sitting areas that overlook the private salt water pool and the backyard oasis where you will be able to hear the ocean in the background as well as howler monkeys, see many birds and beautiful butterflies that are indigenous to the area.

Beaches:

The Beach Club! This club is located on Playa Avellanas inside Hacienda Pinilla. It is a private members’ club which house guests have access to for a fee of $10/day/person. This fee is a redeemable credit for any of the services offered at the Beach Club such as food, beverages, spa treatmens ect. The Beach Club is free for children under 12 years old. There is a beautiful infinity pool that overlooks the ocean with lounge chairs, a great place to read a book under a parasol. A full service spa (massage, facials and mani/pedicures are offered), and a nice restaurant and pool-side grill. Wow this place is nice! Second floor is a great place to watch the sun set with a nice glass of wine or cocktail.
The best beaches for surfing and swimming are Playa Avellanas (turn Left after the Reserva de Golf guard house), continue straight past JW Marriott and turn right at the next large landscape island.
The other great beach inside Hacienda Pinilla is Playa Langosta. This one is about a mile long and is great for walking and swimming (boogey-board). It is generally pretty private. To get to it turn right at the guard house continue to the intersection where you see the wooden signs for Hacienda Pinilla offices. Now turn left onto a good dirt road and drive about 2 minutes and you will see a parking lot on the left in the woods. From here you are right at the beach.
You can also access Playa Mansita by going to the JW Marriott entrance, then to the right. Just follow the signs.
Follow the tide charts (Tamarindo tide tables-look on line) and go at low tide for some fun.

JW Marriott pools: You can have access to their beautiful lagoons pools however they charge $50/person/day only based on availability.


Horseback riding:

The on-site equestrian center preserves Hacienda Pinilla’s history as a working cattle ranch, now offering individual or group lessons, rodeo events, and horseback excursions on the beach and along 16 kilometers picturesque riding trails. The horse stables are state of the art and these are the best treated horses we have ever seen. Just call to reserve your tour or lesson.
Hiking and Bird Watching:

From the equestrian center you can join an organized hike with a guide who will take you on a trail (1 mile/1.5 km) in the tropical forest. You will see a variety a natives plants, birds and local animals. $12/person. Go early and enjoy!

Golfing:

Hacienda Pinilla’s Audubon-certified links-style 18 hole golf course conforms to the natural slopes and contours of its dramatic coastal setting, and was built without destruction of a single tree. The 7,500-yard Mike Young masterpiece plays to the ocean and incorporates frequent risk/reward situations, assuring different challenges every time you play. El Corral, the golf clubhouse, includes a full service pro shop and restaurant.

Tennis:

The tennis courts are open from 8amto 6pm.


Souvenirs

Please take a morning and visit the pottery making town of Guaitil. It is approximately 1 hour away (20 minutes from Santa Cruz). In this beautiful village you will see traditional pottery making by families of Chorotega natives. If you go, please stop and meet a wonderful pottery family in town. Susan and her husband Jesus have their pottery store/home on the left at the end of the square when you enter the town. There is a large pottery oven in front of their house. Tell Susan that you know Lyne and John Guy from Hacienda Pinilla. I highly recommend going to Guaitil!
Also, the JW Marriott has a nice gift shop which has a wide selection of costarican products such as coffees, nuts, t-shirts, jewelry, pottery, books and more. Some nights they have vendors who sell small gifts in the main lobby.
